Sena - WIFI adapter How to connect

The app does make it easier. Once it has been connected to the internet, It doesn't need to be connected to a pc it can be powered by a brick into an outlet.

Why do I need that WiFi device or cable? I'm trying to figure out what exactly I could do with that. I just got my new Sena 50R, connected it to my computer with a regular USB cable, upgraded firmware, installed it on the helmet. Everything works fine. What is that special thing that I can do with this WiFi?

If you plug it into charge it it’ll automatically update firmware. It’s kind of a gimmick but once you have it set up you don’t have to worry about updating it every two years when they finally come out with an update 🙄

I hate these stupid things. It’s simple…when it works! Have to keep unplugging and replugging and rebooting to get it to detect. Then when I unpowered my unit and plugged it into the dongle, the dongle kept rebooting over and over… what a pain 🤦🏽‍♂️

Dude, I connect to wifi adapter but the adapter doesn't show my wifi network. I have done as you did forgot the network on my phone and still. Any other ideas?

@@redron357 No...I used the device manager instead...there is an update to the new 50R...odd, every neighbor's wifi shows up but mine...

Had the same issue - wants a 2.4mhz wifi network. I had a dual network had split them on wifi router and works great now. also name of network should only contain letters and numbers.

Thanks for the video. I'm still not seeing success. I thought it was my cable, and convinced Sena to send me another one -- that didn't help. I never see the SENA WA.... on my WiFi menu, so I can never get to the next step. My WiFi network name has a Space in it -- JWP New -- is that causing the issue? It is a 2.4 GHz network. There's also an 5 GHz band active.

thx a lot i have the same problem too. bye the way do u konw that can 50s open mech connect to 30k？ or it can only open mesh connect to 50s and 50r. cause my friends' 30ks couldn't hear me when we all open mesh.

Thanks for the upload.. but all I get is "connection failed", "connection failed", "connection failed" 🤬 using my galaxy s21+ and s21 Ultra The connection gets established then instantly ends So after about an hour of trying, I thought.. "hmmm something must be wrong, this shouldn't be this difficult" smh

I’ve been dealing with the same issue for a couple of hours. I even tried to connect to the Sena Wi-Fi using my wife’s phone. It connected on the first try, but for some reason the download didn’t work. All subsequent try’s to connect to the Sena Wi-Fi using my wife’s phone failed. I even spent an hour on the Sena support via messaging back and forth without success. Then I tried to use my laptop computer to do the update but the Sena software could not or would not identify the type of Sena unit that was connected to the PC so the update could not progress from there. As expensive as these communication units are, the firmware update process should work seamlessly.

I've tried all the combinations. Use my phone. use my computer.. nothing. It charges, bluetooth works, but nothing else. no voice commands, nothing. I can see the wifi, but using the app, my computer says it can't see the USB device. When I tried to connect with my phone, it asks for a network name and password. SENA has been emailing back and forth with me for 4 days now. SENA's instructions are the worst! i'm ready to get it replaced with something else.

for anyone watching this that has a SENA SRL-Mesh... if you're using a computer.. forget the cable that shipped with it. use a standard cable. The management app instantly found the helmet and downloaded and installed the latest firmware. They say a standard cable will only charge the helmet. NOT TRUE! It did everything the provided cable would not do!

Absolutely terrible set up and connection method. What the hell was Sena thinking? It took 30 minutes but my phone FINALLY connected to the wifi adapter then immediately failed to connect to my home wifi. Tried again, app says it failed yet the wifi led on the adaptor is blue. This is a complete mess and not even worth the effort
