Great speech. Completely agree. There should be legislation which blocks the government from submitting 40 bills in a day. There should be a legislated minimum amount of time for each bill to be reviewed properly and for the Australian citizens to comment on the bills.

Yep, there needs to be a Private Members Bill which outlaws any government from demanding the Senate review excessive number of Bills per day (e.g. 40) or in any limited time period for that matter. I know nothing about the procedures involved, but could the Senate/ors request (or in this instance, demand) more time??? Surely, to expect these bills to be examined in that space of time is insanity. I would hope that anyone in there, making these important decisions on the publics' behalf, would be responsible enough, to DECLINE putting any of these bills through, at this time, given the circumstances???
