Kudos to Senator Flake. He's a good, ethical man. A breath of fresh air in the stench that has become the GOP. Easy to understand why he's voluntarily leaving office, to get away from the stench. The Congress desperately needs fresh blood. Those old coots, especially Grassley, often seem unable to keep up with the changing dynamic, like senile seniors who throw a hissy fit when a new kind of jello appears on their plate.

Sorry, can't think of a good reason to do that. Can think of plenty of reasons not to. I am curious though why you people on the right think typing something in all caps with multiple exclamation points makes it more convincing. It doesn't. It just smells of desperation, like you're trying to convince yourself you're right. Sad!

1. Voting Republican is, in effect, voting for Trump's agenda. 2. Trump is far too friendly and accommodating with Russia, a country run by a murderous dictator whose military meddled and continues to meddle in our politics according to your own FBI. 3. A major part of Trump's agenda is to destroy alliances we have had with other Western democracies for decades. This is just what Putin wants: a breakdown in Western unity, making it easier for Russia to dominate it's neighbors, i.e. rebuild the Soviet Union. 4. Trump has told well over 4000 lies since taking office. 5. Trump has expressed a desire to rule for life, restrict the freedom of the press, and completely undue environmental protections (that means dirtier air and water and poorer health for everybody) to name a few disturbing things. Without a Democratic majority to hold him in check, he'll have free reign to do anything his wishes. For a more complete picture of Trump's ties to Russia and why that is something to be very scared of, watch the film outlined in this trailer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJa4fYWbm5mIb9U

I have profound respect for Sen. Flake. Everybody on left commends him because there is now an FBI investigation into the allegations against Kavanaugh, but they forgot that it's also because him that Dr. Ford can be heard. Remember Grassley said there is no need to hear from Dr. Ford when her accusation first surfaced. But Sen. Flake said he would not vote for Kavanaugh to force Grassley to have the hearing.

Thank you, Senator Flake. I think this is a good compromise. Let the FBI do due diligence in limited time and scope. I believe America is a true country of laws. The Dems Party of Chuck Schumer who challenged openly "we will never let Trump nominee to be voted for the Supreme Court." When Diane Feinstein received from Christen Ford a cooked up letter concocted by the Democrats has proved to be weaponized to bring Brett Kavanaugh down to the sewage gutters. You all who love the law if you received a letter accusing of sexual assault of a person to be hired for the highest office would immediately call the nominee "Mr. Kavanaugh, would come over to my office, I have something to discuss with you?" Feinstein as a true American who believes in a due process would secretly get in writing a statement "he has never sexually assaulted any woman in his life." That's done, Feinstein could then contacted the White House of a sexual allegation from a woman 36 years old and have FBI to investigate true or false. Feinstein kept it a secret from Brett and Trump, but same time, she leaked to the media to be accused as a sex predator. She did what Chuck Schumer had decided from day one "never to nominated Brett Kavanaugh All Feinstein could have saved all the abuses on Christen Ford and Brett Kavanaugh on the day she received the letter. No that's what America is about, but to destroy an honest innocent man. What has Feinstein achieved by telling lies "I have not leaked to the Media?" How can a letter walk out of Feinstein office and talk to the Media? This is a well-organized crime by the Schumer gang. Lie Detector Test carried in advanced without WH Trump or FBI knowledge. Who paid for it? Ms. Ford afraid to fly to be questioned, but flies for all her vacation and business. She is supported by 2 lawyers. Who hired them? Now found by the Clintons. This is all staged and well tutored to bring Brett and Trump down. This is how Americans have been lied by the Dems to regain power by destroying the life of an innocent man.

What exactly did he do? He gave up his leverage to demand the right thing by tossing the decision over to McConnell since he's only one of two votes needed in the Senate to force the right thing. Instead of being the ONE courageous Republicon to force the right thing inside the committee, he voted yes to move out of committee and give up all that control. Now, if McConnell proceeds despite Flake's threat, Flake can say "see... but I tried... it wasn't my fault!" That's not real courage. That's politics.

Quite frankly I think if Ford is proven to have lied about being raped by Kavanaugh she should suffer the consequences! She still shouldn't have received death threats. But Kavanaugh has made statements that seem to imply (rather than outright say, as I admittedly believed without doing research first) that the President is above the law. For that I cannot support Kavanaugh's nomination and would vote no!

@Salsuero6 жыл бұрын
There is no heaven. And why is the country proud? All we got was him saying he'd be inclined not to vote yes if an investigation didn't occur. He had all the leverage in the committee, but none in the Senate since he's only one of two that need to threaten to vote no. If he doesn't have a single other no vote on his side (and an agreement from all 49 Democrats not to vote yes), his "gesture" is nothing but a puff of smoke. In the committee, he could've forced them to delay for the week by threatening to vote no before advancing the nominee to the Senate floor. He took the easy way out and kicked the can over to Mitch McConnell. He's still going to vote yes if the investigation does happen and his no vote doesn't matter alone. So, really... how much courage did he show here?

@bovineone24206 жыл бұрын
Adrian Foster - And if you know the law, it makes perfect sense that Kavanaugh never directly called fo an investigation himself because he's a federal judge. He knows that if were to call for an investigation he'd be violating the responsibility of neutrality. And they could use that against him too. The FBI, by law, cannot take sides in a political matter. All they can do is ask the same questions as the Senate committe did and submit a 302 to the chairman. It'd be redundant.

Dmc Several problems with your comments. You don’t want to live in a society where you are guilty without evidence? Well that’s the whole purpose of the investigation. To find evidence. In regards to the 6 previous FBI background checks, the FBI didn’t know about the allegations until now. They wouldn’t have found anything if they didn’t know the allegations existed in the first place.
@thebigbronkowski6 жыл бұрын
if you honestly believe that 6 background checks wouldn't find even an incling of misconduct then you are drastically underestimating the scope of an FBI background check. The entire purpose of a background check is to find out potentially negative information regarding a candidate. If he was truly guilty of sexual assault and gang rapes on multiple occasions like these women claim the FBI would've found something already
