I am getting this error when I use an email template in my flow. "Error Occurred: insufficient access rights on cross-reference id". I have the sys admin profile. I also created another test template WITHOUT any merge fields. Please help!!

Hi, I tried to use the new Send Email on click of button on a record page. I need to use an email template but recipient id is mandatory. I need to send the email to external email address s0 there is no user/person record id to be used for the recipient id. In this use case, Send Email is not useful. I tried using Email Alert with email template. It works fine with external email address. However, I need to log the sent email to the record's activity history. Any idea on how it can be done? @@salesforcegeek I tried creating a record of Email Message object and related to the record from where the email is being initiated. When I set the HTML body on Email Message record with HTML value from email template, I can see the email template in the history with the values data like 'Hi {!Object.FirstName} {!Object.Last Name}...'. I don't the actual sent email with actual values for the fields/properties. Any advice on logging the actual sent email with appropriate values?

Hi @salesforcegeek, thanks so much for this tutorial. Have you try this with an object other than the standard (opportunity, contact, case, etc..)? I have a flow that is triggered by deliverables (NPSP custom object - npsp__Grant_Deadline__c), I'm currently using a text template within the flow for the emails's body/subject, but I want to use the Email Template. I'm either getting the "Recipient ID is required when using templates" or "insufficient access rights on cross-reference id" errors because I don't really know what to put on the required "Recipient ID".Do you have any ideas on what I should do here?

I am having this same problem, and I don't think there's any way to leave Recipient ID blank, even though it is not used for my process. Looks like I will have to stick with manually having the body and subject filled out in the flow, unless you have found a solution to this?

Hii, I did the same process, though the flow is working as well as the email template. But the mail that I am receiving from that email template is not having any data from the flow. Previously when I was using it as Email Alert action, the data were populated but now after using this email template directly in flow. the field values are not populated. Is there something that I am missing? Can you give me your input un this scenario. Thanks!!

Note developer name is actually the Template Unique Name so, certainly for Classic email templates, that value is easily found 🙂

1. We have alternate Saturday doubt Class but currently on hault because of a medical situation at my end but we will resume doubt classes from Mid July 2024 2. Yes you can ask your doubts but there will be more folks available so we need to give time to all of them accordingly.

Yes It's a known issue this will not work if you use Email Template on Lead or Contact with Salesforce Flow

Hey Shubham, thank you for this amazing step-by-step guide. I have a question regarding Use Line Breaks setting. I have it in sandbox but not in Production. My Sandbox is on Winter'24 but Production is still on Summer'23, do you think that's the reason for absence of Use Line Breaks in Production? Or is there a setting I am missing in Production? You need to fetch all the mails into a text collection variable also if you are planning to use core send email action you will not be able to send email to more than 5 recipients
