The writing on the Strength card is greek :) It says "know thyself" in ancient greek. In the 10 of Wands, I see a baby bird getting out of the shell, which kind of ties in with being overwhelmed by the new possibilities and also all the new responsibilities etc. When I first saw this deck on Amazon on preorder, I thought "the artwork looks pretty cool". Then I saw some pictures of cards that puzzled me, like the 6 of Swords...and I was "okay, maybe I should remove it from my shopping cart". But after seeing a couple of walkthroughs...idk ...it's back in the cart... (/facepalm) I really wish there was some explanation on the symbolism in the guidebook...I would have bought it already! For some reason, I feel that this deck may do the job the Mary-El did not do for me! Somehow I feel that they have a similar vibe...don't ask me why! lol Hope you enjoy working with it!Much love to you! xx

I loooove the colors in this deck and just scooped it up in a sale. But I am soooooo with you on wanting a larger guidebook. I don’t think it’s the Thoth stuff I want more info on. It’s the artist’s specific choices. Because often I think it really goes it’s own way from either of the systems.

Agreed! From what I thought, I figured I was missing the system choices, but the more I mess with it, The more I feel like it’s the artistic choices that I really want to know more about.

@@DaniMystic As this isn't really a Thoth based deck, don't worry about Thoth. You are right that the symbolic artwork is the key, and while some is generic Golden Dawn, most appears to be idiosyncratic to this deck creator.

I really like that they are closer to playing card size. I have small hands, so I get a bit frustrated with many tarot card sizes.

I like the size to just with the thicker card stock I find their little harder to shuffle but are going to be way more durable

On the 10 of wands, looks like a baby bird coming out of the shell. Many of these images could be my favorites ever, love the diversity but some of the images pull me away a little. I have only worked with it very little so far.

The artwork is interesting but it is really annoying when decks use symbols and there is no information on what the symbols mean or represent. Without that information you are never going to get a real understanding of the cards or be able to do an excellent reading.

Agreed! This one really would benefit from a more extensive guidebook that would explain the artistic choices. I’ve had some people comment that there are blogs and stuff about it, but I find it really unfortunate that it is unable to be “used “out of the box when it comes to the art choices!

Great video! So, I bought this deck last week and I’m really enamored with it. As far as some of the figures looking like regular dudes I think it’s because they are regular dudes from her life. I think the Knight of Cups is actually her self portrait. The Queen of Swords was a friend of hers who gave her advice during a tough time. I’m not sure at all, just a guess, but from looking at the authors Instagram I think Temperance may be her partner. I could be completely wrong about that - I can’t remember if it’s in the guidebook or not. Benebell Wen did a review on her blog of this deck and she does some talking about these portraits

Thanks for the info! This is a perfect example of how this deck could’ve benefited from a bigger version of the guidebook! Because unless you go and seek out the artist or seek out other creators who spoke about this, you have no way of knowing. Since this one was gifted to me, I felt like it would benefit others to know my thoughts working with it solely with what’s in the box!

Quite an interesting deck. Thanks for showing! ⭐ It has some intriguing weirdness (androgynous magician, diversity in the princesses, knights and queens) which I like. There's also that wonderful "off-beat" quality that I adore so much in the Grim Tarock. The art style is nice and the colours are lovely. It reminds me a bit to art noveau. However ... I do have troubles with the "hermetic" side of the deck: Quaballah, Astrology, Geometry, ... and especially the Golden Dawn references (the deck reminds me much more to the older Golden Dawn decks than to Thoth or RWS). The glasses, the nestling coming out of the egg and symbolisms like that ... I do like them. I'm fine with the tower. I don't like wands formed into a star ... and that kind of symbolism. ... it's a nice and quite deck. It's certainly not for me now ...

I'm sorry they didn't put triple borders. on it, that would have been amazing. Double borders aren't quite enough to hide the pretty artwork. Insert eyeroll here.

Omg, thank you!!! The 10 of wands almost makes me want to dump this deck. I don't think it has any thing to do with Thoth (could be wrong) the deck is very cool, a little inconsistent with it's tree of life symbolism which is what originally I thought there was going to be more obvious reference to. But that darn duck/feather/green appendaged armed reach around mutant thing..... Can't get past that. If you find out what it was supposed to represent please let me know- K

I wanna know what’s happening in the cards because that’ll add so much layer and depth to readings! The Tarot of Mystical Moments’ guidebook did this so wonderfully.

The 10 of wands looked like a duck/bird breaking out of it's shell so to me it seems to reference the amount of effort it takes to transition from the end of that burdensome cycle to the next. I don't know if that helps you or not, but I do think it's a bird still in it's shell from what I can see. Also there are some references to thoth system but I don't know if learning more about the thoth system will help all that much with reading this deck. They seem to take the system and then run off in their own direction with it. I saw it more clearly in a few of the minors but not to a very deep extent. Basically, as much as you could clearly read RWS in a few cards, that's about the same amount you can read clear connections to thoth, everything else they took a lot of artistic liberty. Which is cool, but I just wanted to put it out there that you don't need to stress about knowing thoth to work with this deck.
