For anyone whose interested, a text direct call (normally referred to as a a relay call) is a way for deaf or speech impaired people to make telephone calls through an operator. The deaf person will type that they want to say on that keyboard, the operator will then read that out to the hearing person and then the operator will type back the hearing person’s reply so the deaf person can read that on the screen.

I know this is almost 7 years old now, but, any chance on mentioning where the location of this phone is? EDIT: Never mind, that Brick Sofa helped locate me to Albert Ct in Ramsgate. The phone box is at the end of High St opposite Harbour St next to the Cafe Nero
