I met my wife in a restaurant in Phuket in my last night in Thailand. We kept in touch on line and after a couple of months she said she wanted to go home. I asked what she was earning and she said 10k baht a month. I was earning 5k a month in the uk and sent her 10k baht a month which was a drop in the ocean to me. I returned to Thailand every 4 months and we’ve been happily married for 4 years. My wife is beautiful and a lovely person with it. Her parents have never asked me for money. In fact they gave us a massive piece of land to build our bungalow. We’ve both been working in the uk for 2 years and my wife has been financing her family from the uk. I’ve just retired and we’ve come back to our home in Sisaket. We are going to rent a condo in Pattaya and live mainly in Pattaya. I know i was lucky but I was cautious and all I would say to blokes watching this be cautious and keep your feet on the ground and only send what you can afford. i helped a girl through the pandemic, not much, but enough to pay her room in bangkok and eat. she was working in a salon and attained her advanced hair design cert in that time. after the pandemic i went back to see her again and went to her province. i had already met her family first time. they didnt have much but whatever they had i got my share. memories i will always treasure. it was a win win situation. we traveled all over thailand together from chiang rai to phuket. when i came home it sunk in that she was 6000 miles away, too far. i said goodbye in january this year. i dont regret a thing

Hi Trev I have lived here over 10 years, I support a Thai lady and her son, the difference is she lives with me so no sponsor’s money. My first and only trip to her Mothers who sadly passed away last year started of with the ‘trolley dash’ round Tescos in Isaan. No problem I didn’t mind buying stuff for her Mother not realising there was the family with a second trolley behind me stacked up ! I spent a few days up there but was paying for everything, fuel for the truck, meals etc. I learnt my lesson very quickly, the family thought they were quids in, I did send Monet her Mother before she passed now and again but not on a regular basis, usually 3000 baht. Each to their own but why send money to some one when you are not even in the country, I have heard and witnessed all the stories people losing everything and having to leave Thailand, yep loves blind as they say more so in Thailand.

Great "walk and talk" vid Trev really enjoyed it thanks. I met my only "regular" Thai girl two days before leaving after my 1st two week millionaire trip 10 years ago. After a return visit six months later I started to send her £100 a month (about 5,500 Baht back then) and continued sending it for the best part of five years. I was beginning to question if I was sending her enough until I was sat in a mates bar and saw a sign in Thai the only bit of which I understood was 4000 Baht, he explained they were advertising for staff and that was the wage plus accommodation and food. I never resented sending the money as I could afford it and it helped her get out of the bars and subsidised her when she was working as a steel erector (no euphemism there) in Bangkok. Don't send money, or give money to these women. Why is it that when an English man in England meets a younger, sexier than him girl, and she wants to have a relationship (arrangement) with him. But she wants regular payment he'll immediately think "hang on a second, this girl doesn't want to be in a relationship with me, she's wanting to get paid, SHES A HOOKER" But when faced with exactly the same situation in Thailand an Englishman's brain doesn't work properly. Bad idea! One time I saw a girl in an Internet cafe in Southeast Asia with about SIX guys on her screen! She was talking to each one. Each guy didn’t know about the others! She was asking for money! They do this in BULK! More money that way. They end up making a lot of money! Per month. Why just go with one sucker! When you can have a bunch of suckers! It’s ALL about the money! They view us foreigners as walking ATM machines. So many guys out there fall for this racket. Because they are lonely and/or can’t get a girl on their own. Especially in their own country. I have traveled for many years in Latin America. Mexican girl asked me money, Dominican girl asked for money, Brazilian asked for money.. . It is not specific to Thai. It is specific to girls that see you as a sponsor. Very easy to say I love you on WhatsApp and getting monthly salary for just words. Traveling for 22 years. My take is that calling a female your girlfriend is false hope. If you don't live in the country, she not yours. I slept with more than a few girls that speak of their Western boyfriend, who sends her a little money every week. Most men go to Thailand once or twice a year and truly believe the girl doesn't sleep with other men, even though she text you every day while you're back home. Still, you are right about the fact that long-distance relationships in general rarely work out, and probably even less so when those women are from Southeast Asia. It is also true that the vast majority of men who send money to Thai women while they are away living in another country do not know these women well enough to be sure they are being true. Hi Trev. Good work with the videos, especially re the “pay Girl money”. I am like you and see a good heart in these girls/ladies. They are human and some have had a horrendous time. Especially after starting work in bar etc. I ignored the 3-day rule as I am not made the other way. But for me I feel better as this latest lady seems pretty genuine. I know she is in the bar and the reality is that she has customers. That lessens the financial responsibility for me. Anyway, I always look forward to her Line messages. My girl has family: a 4-year-old child, grandparents looking after her kid, and she is the main/only bread winner. Such pressure for a young person. As she is young, who am I to deny her the right to look nice - makeup - have some good times with her friends in bar, and sometimes out of the bar. Almost every day she is with me all day, and we seem to enjoy each other company. Maybe she is a good actress, but I think there is some genuineness to the situation. On my previous trip, I met a very young P4P girl. I bonked her and she gave up the bar work because she could not handle the sex. So, she got a factory job in BKK. I did help her, but not anymore as I have the new girl. I am just saying the bar work is not the best for the ladies, and it is in reality the Thai social security system. Even in Australia, the social security is now being found out to be pretty ordinary. Some of the girls thrive in the bar work, but I have met many who do not and give it up. Some are actually quite intelligent, and one lost her pre Covid work in a white collar job in a Thai company that went bust; so what did she do? Go to the Thai social security system and work bar. But only for a short time as she could not handle it. Some bad girls get a sponsor, good on them. They work the system. No good really. Us guys have to be wary, but in the end, even with bad girls, we should only pay what is comfortable for us. The rule is to not get too hooked and extend oneself too much in giving them support. I think a lot of guys do get hooked and do not look after themselves enough. That is the bottom line; take care of yourself, then you can give a little to help the bar girl.

Hi Trev and team, I am very interested in the comments this video may generate as putting a Thai girl on a monthly salary has a lot of pros and cons. Many may say never do it and it is ruining it for everyone else and actually driving up the prices. Others who can afford it will see no harm in it. But from my perspective, if you are willing to pay a monthly salary at whatever thousands of baht, you should also be ready to accept that others are probably funding your girlfriend also, so be prepared for that disappointment.

Okay, I’m a bit confused once again. Why is everyone talking as if all girls in Pattaya are bar girls or freelancers? The title of the video simply uses the word “girl” not “bar girl” so why all the assumptions? When I lived in Pattaya I dated department store girls, hotel workers, beauticians, realtors, etc., etc. So, if a comment is meant to refer specifically to bar girls and freelancers it might be a good idea to mention this fact in the comment to avoid confusion. When I hear the word “girl” or “Thai girl” I don’t automatically assume that we are talking about sex workers, and neither should anyone else. Still, as long as we are now clearly on the subject of bar girls I would have to agree that its generally not a good idea to send them money as there is a definite statistical likelihood that she will be getting money from other men as well. There are plenty of exceptions to this rule of course, but unless you are exceptionally good at reading people you will never know for sure who you are dealing with and how she really feels about you. As for sending money to a regular Thai girlfriend while you are living apart, that is totally up to you and your circumstances. Personally, I never gave any money to any of my past Thai girlfriends over the past 30 years and they never asked - although obviously I paid for all our living expenses when we lived together. Still, since some of these girls were from poor backgrounds I’ve started feeling a bit guilty lately about the fact that I never offered to help them out by giving them money to help out their families (I'm sure they wanted to ask but were afraid I would think they were only after money). And maybe this is why I decided to help out my current girlfriend even though she never asked me to do so. You see, I live in Phuket but she attends college up north and since that college is a 90-minute drive from her parent's house she has to have her own apartment. Anyway, I thought I would take some of the burden from her parent’s shoulders by taking over paying her modest rent and food. It would be MUCH cheaper for me of course if I would just move up there to be with her like she wants me to but I just like living in Phuket too much and I could not stand living in a place like Isan. So she stays with me during school breaks and I take trips up there when I can - at least until she graduates and can move down here. I’m sure some of you might be wondering why I don’t simply find a girlfriend down here. Well, the answer is that its just not that easy to find a really fun-loving girl who is in the top one percentile of beautiful Thai women and who can speak English without any detectable Thai accent and who genuinely believes that she is in love with you. Finding truly genuine girls here is just such an exhausting and time-consuming process that when you finally do find one you want to stick with her.

You need to be careful, it can be death by a thousand cuts. I had a Thai GF and I didn't give her a salary but I sent her money when she 'needed it' but there were times when she would lie about what she needed, and it turns out the money was going on alcohol and not the broken bike tyre or whatever. Plus you never know what these girls are up to when you are home. If a lady has a child with you or you have immediate plans to live together either in Thailand or in your home country (within 6 months say) or get married, you absolutely should support her. But those are the only scenarios in which I would do so again, having had my fingers burnt once.
