Stol competition. 1/4 scale Cubs. Standardized engines. Wing mods only. Categories: Takeoff. Landing. Slow speed handling. Top speed. High speed handling. Would love to see something like this on your channel. The rigger boat hull went on to set prop boat speed and et records in actual drag boat racing. Problem child and others. Rc is so exciting for R&D. Love the channel.

This sort of thing reminds me of that one aviation story I heard a while back that was about the first test pilots for the first US fighter jets I just looked it up to get the written version on a website called WeAreTheMighty so I'll just leave the story pasted here: In 1942, Bell aircraft was developing its P-59 Airacomet, the first jet engine fighter designed by the United States. And although it never saw action, it was an important step in the development of U.S. air power. It was also a top-secret project at the time. The British had a jet fighter airframe in development since 1941 as did the Germans. It was so secret, in fact, that when the P-59 was taxiing, airmen put a fake wooden propeller on her nose so onlookers wouldn't notice anything odd about the aircraft. In the air, however, it was a different story. Pilots flying the usual piston-driven aviation engine would report back to base with sightings of a fast-moving plane without a propeller. They also said the plane was flown by a "gorilla, wearing a derby hat, waving a stogie at them." The Chief test pilot for Bell Aircraft was Jack Woolams. By the time Bell was testing its P-59 design, Woolams had already served 18 months in the Army Air Corps. He was the man behind the gorilla mask. Other pilots who were exposed to Woolams' prank were convinced by Air Force psychologists that they hadn't really seen the gorilla flying the plane, "because everyone knows you can't fly without a propeller." Thought you guys might enjoy hearing that story because this video reminded me a bit of it.

Hey guys, Mark here, I have been binge watching your channel for a couple of days now and this video finally pushed me over the top (I had a stuffed monkey as a kid too Alex), so I finally subscribed. You guys are infectious with your enthusiasm and your attitude is super inviting (In your minds you must still be 10yrs old, am I right?). You've quickly become one of my favorite channels and I will tell you that I'm picky about what I watch. For an Indiana farm boy who grow up flying and losing planes and rockets in the corn feilds, this brings it all back home for me. I love to tinker with stuff and I have what believe is a God given love of all things that fly. (BTW, you should see what's hanging up in my garage.) Not surprisingly, I am a career aeronautical engineer from a great aero school (Hail Purdue!) with a large aerospace company in Seattle (I love my job). Love your channel and your spirit. Keep up the good work guys!

Most people who have slightly mad ideas tend to fail in the execution. Sometimes with style, sometimes not. FT has some pretty mad ideas, most of which work and even the fails are invariably stylish and amusing. This one was a fairly insane concept from the start and, like nearly all of your most insane concepts not only worked but worked well and was flown well. And I still haven't stopped laughing 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
