I’ve had to try a bell collar, I feel so mean making her wear it though, it must be irritating. I wasn’t sure whether giving her hunting toys would satisfy her hunting instincts, or just help hone her hunting skills.

My cat started bringing preys like 3 times a week even with a bell collar on (he was castrated long ago and has a lot of food to eat). He always brings them alive and once he brought a rat to my mom's room and it escaped and hide so we had to open the f*cking mattress to get it out. I'm searching for good toys and those automatic toys or slow feeders so my cat gets that chasing/catching/eating gratification. And we also started closing the doors and windows at night and it seems to be working so far.

Mice and Rats are invasive species. It's natural for them to hunt mice and rats. Birds not so much. But that's why itd bad to let your cats outside.

The neighbors cat just grabbed my favorite squirrel right off my porch in the middle of the day. I’ve been feeding that squirrel for 4 years. The way it looked at me for help when I came out the door and it’s belly was in the cats mouth 😩😩. I sprung into action and was chasing the cat threw the woods but I lost it. I feel so horrible, what a horrible death. I seriously want to hurt that cat. I’ve never wanted to hurt a breathing animal, but this cat is horrible

I haven't found satisfactory studies proving that collar bells save birds because birds aren't conditioned to fear a soft, tinkly sound. I would like to put a collar with an airhorn on the roaming cat that stakes out my birds! I'm on a quest to solve the problem. Failed: fox urine cat repellant granules. Partial win: installing a 7-foot pole system but only because my stalker cat is unusually small. She can't reach the feeders now, but catching them in flight or on the ground is still a risk. This cat is so small that she won't even chase a squirrel. Fox squirrels are the same size as her.

I would highly advise against declawing any cat, much less an outdoor cat. It isn't like cutting your nails or even removing your nails. It is more like taking off the tips of your fingers.. down to the bone that holds the claw. This is an amputation. If the cat spends time outside it could prevent it from defending itself from larger animals. There are alternatives to declawing if you're focusing on the claw aspect itself. I personally stopped letting my younger cat out after our older cat got hit by a car and struggled to come back and die on our porch 😞 Keeping cats indoors is much safer for them (very large diff in life expectancy) and outdoor critters as well (cats have contributed to the extinction of many different species). If you still want to have an outdoor/ indoor cat then this video did seem to have some good options 😁

The Birdsbesafe collar might work for you (and lizards) if you decide to continue allowing your cat outside. I'm seeing that it might not help with rodents but it does seem to help with lizards! "A scientific study in Australia showed some protection for lizards when cats wore Birdsbesafe cat collar covers. It is postulated that the lizards have color vision abilities that draw their attention to the cat's Birdsbesafe collar cover." I haven't used it but it seems promising and may help you :)

I don’t want my cats to stop hunting. That’s literally why we got them. We have backyard chickens and wanted to curb the influx of rodents (for ours and our neighbors sake). What I do want to stop is my cat bringing large alive animals in our house and letting them go. I’m tired of having to trap animals to release outside then sterilize EVERYTHING!!! Sigh. It sucks.

Cat are carnivores animals. Dog can stomach can digest vegetables and get their protein for it cat can not. That is why cat only live 10 yr. but if you give them a pices of meant thin sliced a week there fur get double amount. And dry food also without drinking water take water from there kidney over and over takking water and refill it . It break in time.

And s I said. Make sure they drink enough water to wet that dry food so it don't take water from kidney and intestinal body or it will die in about 10 yr. cat can't get nutrients from plant matter.
