Seniors Over 60 Ride Electric Tricycles For the First Time

We're taking seniors over 60 who are interested in adult electric tricycles for their first test ride. They show you how easy and safe it is to get on your first e-trike. All of the senior riders in this video had never been on an electric tricycle before. You'll see first hand what it's like to experience a three wheel electric bike without having ever ridden one. It's definitely different from a two wheel wheel bike. The way an electric trike turns and maneuvers is completely different from a two wheel bicycle. A two wheel bike requires more leaning while a 3 wheel bike requires you to steer. If you don't turn the handlebars on a 3 wheel bike it will not go the direction you want it to. It can take a little getting used, but you'll notice all of our first time riders in the picked it up pretty quick. If you are thinking of getting an electric tricycle you should do it! It will expand your life and riding!
The EVRYjourney E Trike featured in this video is a great option for seniors because of the riding position and the motor size. The motor is actually a 250 watt front hub motor which is ideal for a senior rider. It's just enough power to provide assistance but not too much where it would be overpowering for a senior rider. It comes equipped with pedal assist and a throttle, so if you don't feel like pedaling you don't have to. The pedal assist has five levels, one gives you the least amount of assistance and five gives you the most. Use five for going up hills and one for cruising around on flat ground.

Watching these folks riding their first e-trike was interesting. I ride a trike too albeit not an e-trike. Your advice about not pedaling thru a turn applies to my trike as well; took me a while to realize that. 🙄 Your admonition about staying away from the downslope was spot on as well. That tendency gave me some anxious moments on the street while I was learning how to handle my trike, and I wondered if I was doing something wrong. But apparently all trikes do that. I love riding my trike. Electric assist would be nice but since my routes have no hills, it's not needed. I do want to compliment 630 on designing some of the best looking trikes (and bikes) I've seen. 👏👏 This is a very informative video. BTW I'm 72, female, handicapped (no balance, drop foot).

I have a three wheel battery operated bike and I would never trade it in I love it has made my freedom much better freedom to get around I have asthma so I can't climb hills no more and there are hills where I live my parents got me mine as a gift last summer and I hope it will last me the rest of my life

Thanks for liking my comments about the three wheel tricycle the E bikes they have been my favourite I love mine I hope that people will take it by us by going to bike shops that will train you how do you cc tricycles properly I'm glad that I did because he's a bikes are very valuable but if they are used properly then they are your friend if people don't get trained how do you teach a tricycles they could get hurt seriously and not know how to write them right I'm glad that they have videos about training you how to write them properly as well all people should learn because they're not an ordinary bike they are a specialized bike there is a lot of difference between them and a normal three wheel trike cycle I know that now because I have one and I love my E bike very much I love the fact that I can pedal assist it or I can throttle it or just plain ride it as a normal bike these options make it easy so that you are exercising as well thank you

I bought a L shaped stem for the saddle so I can sit further away from the peddles which means my knees are not so much bent and really alot more comfortable

I bought my daughter a trike recently and I have to say it is completely different to a bike. On my first ride I noticed it will lean considerably if you are on anything but a dead flat surface. And you really have to watch turning up into steep driveways. You really have to make sure you take a wide turn and approach them from a right angle. Definitely need to adjust your riding style.

I like the idea of a e-trike, I'm 66 and balancing on a two wheel e-bike is tricky at times. There are two things I don't like about your e-trikes, one is the braking system. You could here the audible squeal when braking, even when going slow, you need hydraulic disc brakes. Also I don't like having the motor on the front hub, I feel if your going to go e-trike, it makes more sense to me to have the motor on the rear with another sprocket, so you are applying power to the rear axle. I just bought a trike with disc brakes front and rear and I also bought a 48V 1000W motor and I'm going to weld a plate and drill some slots in the plate for chain tightening adjustments. I'll let you know how it goes and I'm going to film the conversion work and put it on my channel, so if you're interested you can check it out. I'll drop a link when I tell you how it went. I've been riding e-bikes for about three years, I spent two years just learning about them and how to build them, I have an Aventon Aventure and a Luna Cycle Stealth Fixed e-bike.

I’ve just bought an E- trike online and have to assemble it. Where l live it’s very hilly and there are a lot of turns on some of the hills. I admit the prospect of riding to the nearest town up, round and down these slopes is a bit scary. I would love to see a demo.

I also think that people should retrained in the bike parking lot to use these bikes properly I was trained how to use my right and do not turn corner sharply or fast because it would be dangerous the fella where we got my bike showed me how to ride it properly within 10 minutes I was understanding exactly what to do with the bike if more bike shops would show people how to ride them before they took them home there would be less accidents on the road because people would be aware of how to write them right and they would know what to do these kind of bikes are a great thing but people need to ride them properly I love mine if there are any mistakes sorry I had to type by talking to my phone

Why are you avoiding downward slopes ? Where I live there are a lot of Hills

Because they are coming at the slope at an angle, not going straight down. Straight down is no problem, they are going across the slope and that is challenging for someone that is just getting on a trike for the first time. You have to learn how to steer the trike against the slope, for beginners it can be challenging.

It depended on the rider. It was a split, a few preferred the tricycle because they were dealing with some balance issues and fear around being on two wheels. So for them the three wheel option was a better choice.
