I left this message on other videos, but these engines are not setup correctly at the factory. The valve lash is near zero and spark plug is not gapped right. Gap the spark plug from 0.027”-0.031”, mine was only 0.02” and carbon coated. My valve lash was too small to measure. Reset the intake and exhaust valve clearance to 0.15mm or 0.06” with a feeler gauge. If not correct, This stops the saw from running at full speed. As the engine heats up, the valves wont close fully from expansion and it will want to stall. I recheck valve lash annually as it can change with wear. And it took some starting fluid in the carb to get my saw to fire up initially. Now its fine.

Great to know!! How does it run when tuned probably?

Mine runs great, doesnt bog down at all. And starts easy if I pull slow and steady. I like the saw. One other thing I needed to adjust was the fuel line inside the gas tank. The gas line was a little too long and could not get gas when I rotated the saw clockwise 90*. Just had to tug on it to pull out 1/8” from the tank. Just verify your fuel filter can move freely before filling with gas. Gas line is stiffer than Im used to.

I picked one up at Lowe’s during the Black Friday sale last week for $99.00 (regular price $189.00) but with tax and 3-year extended warranty it was $124.87. Had to special order it since they were out of stock in the surrounding stores and I got it in two days ago. Picked up a quart of chain oil and 10 ounces of Stabil fuel stabilizer for using ethanol fuel which in total cost another $16.16 then headed over to O’Reilly Auto Parts for a quart of their brand 10W30 regular oil for $5.99. Got home read the literature and watched a few videos who all hated this saw for various reasons, but mostly they didn’t read the literature to know how to properly operate this saw and they all complained that it wasn’t as powerful as their weakest 2-stroke saw; and these were supposed experienced professional chainsaw operators. I’ve been using it a couple hours a day for the past two days and I have nothing bad to say about it. For the price, it can’t be beat and all I need it for is to cut up three trees for firewood that was too close to the house and it’s doing a great job at that. I noticed it goes through a lot of fuel, engine oil, and chain oil, so there’s no way you’re getting 8-hours of use before changing engine oil because I’ve had to top both off both days after using a couple hours. The second day I noticed it was smoking white smoke a lot after a few minutes use, so I stopped a few minutes to let it cool off, topped off the oils, then started back again. I get about 10-15 minutes use before it starts smoking again. I’ve noticed in the comments it may need adjusting so I’ll have to look into that and figure out how to do that. I finished the first the in two days and it’s probably going to take twice as long each for the other two trees. I have no problem recommending this to anyone who is on a budget and can’t afford a 2-cycle saw that costs about three times as much as this one. Some people are recommending using the TruFuel 4-cycle engineered fuel but that’s $24.00 a gallon and cost prohibitive for me because this thing uses quite a bit of fuel also and I would zip through that premium grade to fast. I may buy the smallest can they have to fill the tank when I put the saw in storage after finishing these trees since I won’t be needing anymore firewood for a while and the engineered fuel has a 2-year shelf life unlike ethanol blends which you need to use in about a month to avoid water contamination issues. I apologize for any typos, this iPhone is notorious for autocorrecting words and phrases that are correct into complete gibberish sometimes.

Chain was initially way to tight. The sound gives it away. I also noticed several people had to get the Carburetor Tool and tune it for best performance.

Thanks for the video. You really hit the nail on the head. These saws have a mechanism that lowers compression for starting so its easy for a Woman to use but only if you pull the cord slowly. It uses centripetal force to close the valves once it starts. So if you pull too fast you defeat the mechanism ripping your fingers off. Watch from minute 13:00

Thanks for sharing the video. Just a few things to look at. 1. your chain is way to tight. 2. don't start a saw on concrete put ut in the grass. it'll tear it up fast. and 3. use the felling dogs.

This video and the comments help me deciding whether to get this saw. BTW - I think he needs to have someone else teach his kids, safety procedures for chainsaw operation. Just sayin...

I bought two of those saws! I give one to my son. They are a great little saw for the money & that is a great idea for starting the saw! Be careful & enjoy! 🤩🤩

@thluachuahlian I use regular non ethanol gas. But you can also buy 4 cycle gas in small cans at store. Either works.
