I think a three way versus series between this mic, the AT-2035 and Rode NT1 or NT1A is in order. These three all have suggested retail of around $250-300 here in Aussie although the Rode NT1A mics are frequently found used (and cheap) for about $150 or less. I can see that the MK4 is aimed a little higher in the scale of things than the other two but hearing the differences and getting your esteemed opinions on them would be very useful. With thanks from DownUnder.

My collaborator and I used to play NAMM for Sennheiser and would get product in exchange for playing a short set - We have been using the MK4 for a decade pretty exclusively. We started working with a producer on a track and one of us was on site at his studio where he used a SLATE VMSML1 on her and suggested I come to LA - I said easier to buy the mic you used if you think it will make the difference ... less disruptive to life to run the session here with a new mic than me traveling cross country from NYC at this time ... I (accidentally) got a great deal on a new/demo/return which was mis-marked in the system at $449.67 instead of the Susan demo markdown $719.99. My question after ALL that preamble is: would love to know if anyone has used both and if the Slate (IN YOUR OPINION) will be an upgrade to the MK4 for vocal tracking ...? THANK YOU in advance for any responses! 🙏

Hi, sorry this may be really random but I’m just so confused about audio in general. I have the VModa Boom Pro and am planning to record audio with it until I read about the usb external sound card adapter and how it reduces computer hissing noises. I bought that but now I’m learning a lot more about mixers, XLR for microphones, external DACS, Amps, and etc and I’m just wondering. What is the best audio set up with the boom pro mic that I have right now, what alternatives are there towards that usb sound card that I have, and what everything else like the external DAC and everything mentioned in the former has to do about my USB adapter. I just want to find a set up that works for voice over for KZbin, but with the gear that I have right now. Also are there any other ways to increase my audio output to sound as best as it can? Would be greatly appreciated if someone could reply!

@Podcastage6 жыл бұрын
Happy to help. Sorry the mic won't work out for you. Luckily there's a lot of mics out there to pick from. =) I'm not sure what you mean by grate, but, if it's a higher pitched sound you may want to look into some dynamic mics. They aren't typically extended as high into the air frequencies and can make them softer sounding and easier to listen to.
@UriskOfTheFae6 жыл бұрын
@@Podcastage I have considered using a dynamic in the past, but I haven't had the courage to invest in a cloud lifter or preamp so that I could use one effectively with the wide range of performance styles I employ for voice acting. I also really like the extra detail that I get with a condenser. When I first started I used a cheap dynamic that I nicked from my dad, but I suppose some $40 or $50 dollar mic isn't likely to compare to a Shure SM7B and other mics in and above the SM7B's price range. I guess I'm just afraid of picking up a decent dynamic and not liking it as much.
