Oda is a genius at tragic backstories! He can even make us feel bad and live a guy who dresses like a fat baby. Who else can do that?

And the most impressive thing (if true) is that it wasn't planned out. He made a bet with someone working with him (an editor I think) because they didn't believe Oda could give a character like Señor Pink a sad backstory that could pull at people's heartstrings. So if that's accurate, he came up with Señor Pink's backstory as a way to win a bet and ended up creating a fan favorite character in a series that's full of characters well written and well loved enough to have their own series.

@@SkullzJoker12 Well, Oda has said he plans on ending the series within the next five years, and I think that was at least six months ago. Then again, if what I've heard is true, the entirety of One Piece was initially intended to be a fire year series to begin with. So either Oda's bad at speculating on the amount of time it takes him to tell a story, or he can't help expanding the story at every opportunity. On second, it's probably both.
