My God, that is brilliant. The dance routine is the absolute best. Could any band today pull off something like this? Probably not.

My uncle Jimmy played bass in the original ALex Harvey soul band in Germany and i met him a few times .I remember him coming to pick up my uncle and he was wearing black leather and cowboy boots .. and there was this guy sitting in my grans living room about to play a gig and my gran said .. you hungry son .. Alex said "im starving Mrs Grimes .. My gran said "want a pie son ?? Alex said "That would be great Mrs Grimes !! A guy in black leather and cowboy boots wolfing a pie down ... sex drugs and rock n roll ..

The BBC tried to put a Plaque in tribute to Alex where he was born , but his house was no longer there and was now a supermarket car park or something .. Typical BBC ... no research .. spent a fortune on dragging ex members of his band around Glasgow chasing shadows and buying lunches ... and a £20 plaque !! Opening a fame academy would have been a preferable fitting tribute given all the money the bastards sqaunder on semi talented so called super stars ..

First proper group I ever saw, aged 14 on the Next Tour. The missing link between Glam and Punk. Were the biggest thing we had 1973/4. Could not source a 'Breton' T-shirt for love nor money. No Merch. back then. Kicked off with an Alex rap about not biting bullets, or pissing in the water supply...then 1st up, 'The Faithhealer'. Must say it is 'Midnight Moses' that really floats ma boat. One of the most sensational, extreme, rockingest groups I ever did see. A Clockwork Orange jumping out of the pages of Britain's last great comic-2.000 A.D. Alex plus droogs. You are sorely missed. I waaaas Framed.

interesting that everyone who has made negative comments must not know about Alex or actually know Alex and realize that this was the best farce EVER. The band must have loved this. Rest in peace Alex, would that your heart had been as strong for you as it was for us.

The instrumentation is reasonably close to the original, not much in the way of variation but . . . but Alex's phrasing just puts a whole new dimension to the song. That little dance is sublime.

I had a vague recollection of seeing these guys on a tv rock show as a kid along with Gary Glitter. For years I was asking my friends if they remembered a 70's band who had a guy dressed up as a mime. Everyone thought I was either talking about Bowie or Kiss. Thanks to KZbin I can resurrect faded childhood memories. So glad I rediscovered SAHB. Probably one of the coolest bands ever! Great stuff.

in 1976 they brought out an album of cover songs called The Penthouse Tapes with Runaway included. They have produced a wealth of their own material in five other albums between 1972-78. Alex Harvey recorded further albums before and after SAHB until his death in 1982. Look up Boston Tea Party, Vambo and The Mafia Stole My Guitar
