Excellent words of wisdom from Grandmaster Ho Sik Pak. I totally agree that if you are skilled but lack the courage of overcoming fear, that you will still are likely to get beaten up and lose a fight, also ending up getting hurt. Once again thank you Sensei Ichi for bringing us, yet another wonderful story from this formidably, outstanding Tang Soo Do Grandmaster. Have you had the opportunity to train with him, as well as exchange ideas and so forth? I hope that your week has been going well. Greetings to you and Grandmaster Dennis Ichikawa, as always from Melbourne, Australia 🇲🇽🇦🇺🙏🥋👍😊✌👊Osu!

I wouldn’t say save me ‘in a fight’. Im from Wado-Ryu karate, which is translated to ‘harmonious way’, and my sensei taught me from day one to avoid fights as much as possible, through control and respect (as I’m sure others do in other styles). One night as I was out with my friends, one girl knew I trained in karate and she was under the use of illegal substances tried to make me fight her, and not in a fun way. She knew about my past and pushed all the right buttons to make me want to punch her as hard as I could. However, the mental side of my training saved me from hurting her and from getting into alot of trouble. The physical side has not yet happened and I hope it doesn’t 😅

Yes for me it has and also it has helped me to avoid potential situations as well. I'm not as confident as others in my skills and would like to overcome that.
