This is a tall order for most Catholics today. I'm just being real. Many are not even close to being this formed. If you are, that's great - but if you are not don't despair. It takes time and effort to get to this. Think of it like this - MOST people don't go to the gym and lift 300 lbs/130 kg. or run 3 miles. You work UP to this. Just work out each day - but one of the most useful things here was a structured life and put prayer into that life. Everyday. Try to say the Rosary and you can start just by doing a decade one hour and another a later hour until it is completed. Do a cursory examine of conscience before bed at the end of the day. Keep a note of it - this helps for confession too. BTW go to confession monthly, too. Pray in front of Blessed Sacrament once a week in addition to Mass. But wherever you are start somewhere and work at it - be patient with yourself but truly trying to have a relationship with God.

This teaching is priceless. I have a daily prayer life but also spend a lot of time on spiritual learning such that I end up staying up late and then waking up late. During the week I have to work so I cant focus on spiritual learning and prayer until after work, which is why I end up staying up late. A priest told me that this pattern can be a way for the enemy to get us to sin. So glad that the next life we will get to spend all of our time with the Lord and not on our mundane work and activities.

@Arizona Willful, I am unable to find your comment but hopefully you see this. My reason for taking a vow of chastity in this world where so few people practice chastity is to say to God, and the world, that I remain chaste, not because I am required to remain chaste, but also to say I choose to remain chaste, much the way a nun or priest takes such a vow. It was part of my choice to follow a very specific way of life, a way of prayer and decisions on certain activities. It brought me much closer to the Lord, and helped me to give myself over to God's will for me. As it turned out it also strengthened my faith for the difficulties which were to come, and which have continued for many years. Choosing to join my will to God's in one area of my life helps me to choose to join more of my will to God's as I move through life. Have you not listened to this talk by Father?

"If you wake up after the dawn, you might as well go back to bed because you missed the day" Thats an old Farmers axiom, of which I hold as a powerful truth in regards to our natures. The secret was clipped off of Adam just before his fall and eventually became a part of the arc of the covenant. That was claimed by St. Heli who passed it to St. Ann as they met each other in a tunnel leading to the Jerusalem temple. St Ann passed it to Holy Mary who passed it to Jesus. Apparently it restored those aspects that were lost to mankind to all who had it, even going back to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

I took a private vow of chastity years ago, for 1 year, with my spiritual director, and it went very well, but I was required to have permission of our bishop. A couple of months later the bishop retired and a new one came from Pennsylvania. At the end of my year I decided to take the vow for one more year, and again I was required to have the bishop's permission. This new bishop told me that as a single woman chastity was required anyway so he refused. I tried to explain why I wanted to take the vow but he wouldn't listen. Was there something different I should have done? I no longer had a director because he'd been sent to Rome, so I asked about a director and the bishop sent me to his housekeeper, who was a nun, and the former housekeeper of Cardinal Bernardin from before he became a cardinal. She knew nothing about direction. How does one know who to trust? My first director is now a wonderful Archbishop.

Currently seriously considering the positions of SSPX and could really use a spiritual director to help me through it - unfortunately I grew up in a Novus Ordo Parish and family who are all "fans" of V2 thinking, and thus do not take kindly to my criticisms, even though all I'm really after is an argument or rebuttal against my objections.. My own feelings would have me deny V2 in a heartbeat and flee for reverent liturgy and the SSPX, in hopes that the Church will one day reform its reform and return to tradition. Only thing holding me back is the binding authority of the Church and the councils.... I despise the fruits of V2 and all the damage it brought about. It's a terrible situation.

Regimen isn't for everyone. I've attempted regimens many times and always ended up being less efficient. It depends on your station in life. As someone else said, an artist who creates does so when the inspiration happen. He cannot schedule when he is going to be inspired. Habits are not mechanical, especial since the acquired moral virtues are connected by prudence which deals with a lot of contingent matters. To be fair, I only listened to the first 10 minutes since this particular video was not helpful to me in particular, but for those who it helps, go for it. A reminder to the audience - people are allowed to respectfully disagree without it being slanderous to the other person.
@harmonychicory65753 жыл бұрын
The example of a musician helps me understand this point a lot. If I am learning an instrument and wait for the time when I feel right, when I feel inspired, or whatever, my practice times will be erratic and my progress slow. If I set up a fairly firm time to practice and stick to it, I will do much better. And I will get used to it, so that I will be subconsciously prepared when practice time rolls around. Professional writers talk about the same thing--being sort of primed to write when it is their time to write.
@gray_mara2 жыл бұрын
Look up decision fatigue. Not having a routine is a great way to get nothing done. As to inspiration, it was a famous writer who said, "I only write when I'm inspired, and I see to it that I'm inspired at 9am every day."

Hey, so I have a question. No sure if Fr. Ripperger reads these comments, but if someone who knows how to reach him could get this to him, I would be greatly appreciative! My question is how could someone living with their family establish a rule of life around their schedules? I share a room with 3 of my sisters and setting an alarm to wake up and prayer is not very considerate of them (ask me how I know...). Also, I cannot go to bed at a consistent time every night because my family prays the rosary at different times depending on the night. It would also be very difficult for me to say any prayers before bed since we're all going to bed around the same time and it wouldn't be very charitable to keep my siblings awake for an extra 15 minutes to pray. Also, the car situation is limited, so it might not always be possible for me to go to daily mass or adoration once a week. Do you have any advice for how to combat these issues?

I pray the Rosary on the way to work and on the way home. Two reasons, one being the need to control my temper and the other to thank GOD . Whatever time you have every day , whether brushing your teeth, showering, etc. You don’t need to get on knees , hands folded , eyes closed when you pray. If you love someone then you make time for them 🙏🏻

@@lawrencekeenan9234 Good point. I suppose I might just be making excuses...I'll just jam on it and really carve out some time to pray...Thanks! Sometimes all you need is a little shove in the right direction!

I prayed upon these words and pondered a question - what is it called when you are in constant contact and prayer with GOD - where in life, even in living and doing there is no separation. Where you hear and communicate at all times with the heavens above? Where human may be needed as a voice in delivery but truth and ultimate guidance comes from prayer and heaven alone? What is the name for this?

I taught my 2 autistic boys how to pray the rosary and they memorized the whole rosary and Chaplet by heart, and I also have them read the Bible and talk about it, just that can help them growing

anyone real Christian ✝️ who follows Jesus and reads the Bible daily can help you with sin confession. Bible says confess your sins with each other. There are many true believers. Ultimately you confess your sins to God thru the blood of Christ. you are now free ✝️

SAINT CLAIR WROTE THE RULE OF LIFE She was a women. 👁️ She had sight She had simplicity in little words. She had structure without prolonged preaching She had solidified solitary simplicity She didn’t need to ask Saint Francis for all her direction - she prayed directly to GOD and received SIGHT from prayer NOT from men. FROM PRAYER

Where can I go to one of your conferences? You have a tremendous gift of sharing the faith in a simple manner for us regular Catholic folks.

Wow, what a wake up call. I've been following an online class.about Consecrate myself to Our Lady and you scared me that I'm not disciplined enough, but I do want to do it. I don't know if I'm selfless enough to be doing this. Isn't that the point is getting her help in spiritual life? I was excited, now I'm confused.Pleaase respond.

God is a creator his regimen is fluid, creation is fluid, life is fluid. I say a Rosary when I say it at different times during the day each day, it's effectiveness is not limited by a schedule. I'm an artist and the creative moment cannot be planned only anticipated and hoped for, prayed for. The regimen of regimen can be a cover for reality. My previous regimen did not allow me to stand at the abortion clinic and pray, council mother's, in fact the abortion clinic runs on a "Regimen'. The only regimen I'm interested in is truth through Christ and his Church. I even attend different Mass times. My un regimen is my regimen for now, for some a regimen I'm sure works.. AMDG

Does anyone know what Fr. Ripperger is saying in his opening prayer? "...Every prayer and work of ours may begin from thee and be thee (BLANK) to Christ our Lord."

I was saying 4 rosaries a day but I got behind in my daily gospel reflection. I fact I got bogged down and went back to one a day. Should I be talking to priest about this? I Didn't vow, I just wanted to.
