We had a home invasion a few streets over last month and it was some scary shit. Not sure all the details but it was some "contractors" who showed up to provide an estimate for some house work. Turns out they were just using that as a way to case the joint. They planned the job and it went off without a hitch. No one was killed, but the couple was elderly and it has fucked up their lives forever more. If you have parents or family who are elderly and still living alone, warn them. Most are too trusting, too naive and the criminals are too savvy, too well practiced. They don't stand a chance against them. Even a spur of the moment meth head invasion with a baseball bat and knife can overwhelm an unsuspecting victim.

Fired 8 times, no evidence any of them found its target. Cop said it was probably because I was shooting at an angle and by the second or third shot they realized they were getting shot at and hightailed it. There's this feeling of being violated like your safe space was invaded and that feeling of being home that we all take for granted was gone. The apartment just didn't feel like home anymore and realized quickly it never would again. 2 months later we moved out. Over a decade later despite living in a gated community with 24hr armed security I still spared no expense fortifying my home. This shit follows you for life.

The only thing I'd say for the next guy who's in a situation like this where it seems you're being railroaded and you feel that a jury trail is just the final nail in the coffin because people are going into it with their minds made up.. while dealing with a judge in the bench trial, avoid insulting the court, the DA, claiming it's all rigged and the system is corrupt... you really gotta do your homework on the judge before deciding you want a bench trial. There are some great judges out there which really go by the law, precedents, will call out prosecutors when they're doing something shady, and have no problem letting it be known if the state is pulling stuff out their ass.. and then you have judges who are part of the good ole boys club. Friends with the DA and golfs regularly with them and the detectives in their district and will do whatever it takes to keep their asses covered and have a great win to loss ratio so they're all set when reelection time. I don't know if he's innocent but he might of had a better shot with a jury since they could point out everything was circumstantial, no dna, fingerprints, etc, etc

Very very true. In a jury trial the DA has the burden of proof. If they can not prove BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. The jury is required to render a NOT GUILTY verdict. REASONABLE DOUBT and circumstantial evidence go hand in hand. Whether this guy is guilty or innocent I have no clue. But his verdict MOST DEFINITELY should have been NOT GUILTY!!! People absolutely should NOT EVER go to prison based on circumstantial evidence!!!!!

I thought the same. Theres no way a jury would've given him life without parole beyond reasonable doubt JUST because he had the laptop of a man that was killed. A lawyer would've been able to instill doubt into the jury and that on its own would've saved his ass. Look at Casey Anthony lmao, sis was sooo guilty but got away with it anyway. His #1 mistake was thinking that a judge would not be biased against a black man that has been to prison before.

I'm gonna do more research on this case before I make my judgement. That being said, not everything a prosecutor says is factual. The system is broken! The way it's set up is terrible. From the detective to the prosecutor to the judge. They care about advancing their career and moving up the ladder just like everyone else. I sometimes feel like seeking out truth and justice takes a back seat to appease the public and close a case. I don't know enough about this case to say he was wrongfully convicted or dealt with a lot of prejudices and biases I just wanted to say that I know it does happen

Finally another man on death row confessed but prosecutors didn’t care. They had a conviction. DNA 🧬 proved him innocent AFTER trial & sentencing & as then Gov of IL George Ryan was going to prison himself in 2006, (selling CDL licenses for $500ea) he released dozens of death row inmates that were innocent and commuted the rest and ended the death penalty in IL. The innocent man is Rolando Cruz who did 10 years on death row but there were dozens on death row WRONGFULLY convicted. Google it.

For the people who think his argument and passion proves his innocence. You have to think about the fact that he's had time to practice for this day, and recite this speech over and over. You also have to remember that he's a career criminal, that probably has no remorse for anyone but himself. I can't say that he's 100% guilty, and I know police can be sloppy, lazy, get tunnel vision, and act vindictive, but I think he's either fully guilty, or like Death said, he set it up. If he set it up, he's just as guilty as doing it himself. Situations like this should be a lesson to other criminals. If you keep committing crimes, and stacking up charges, you'll probably end up being a grown man, with a book of convictions, working at a fast food spot, or you'll just keep committing crimes, and end up in a situation like this, where you'll end up dying in prison as an old man, or getting murder while doing your time. Crime may pay here and there, but you'll eventually slip up, and the judges are going to see your record, and ship you off to some $#!t hole, where you'll rot away. I've gotten lucky when I was younger, and never got caught, but it only took one close call for me to stop committing crimes, and I went into the Army shortly after. I would like to think that I was extra careful about the things that I did, which kept me from doing time for the things that I did. My last time doing anything serious, I ended up going into a house at night, thinking the people weren't home, and I ended up finding them in their bed. I got out of there, and never did anything like that again. I was young and dumb. I was only about 19 at the time that this happened. As an adult, I have a lot of remorse for that. I regret that I was ever that much of a POS. It makes me cringe when I really think about it. I like to think that I've made up for that. I would never do something like that now. I can't stand a thief. I can understand why young people can do ignorant $#!t like I did, but an adult is a sorry POS, if they're out her doing this type of $#!t. Now, if you're young, and you're doing home invasions, and tying families up, and terrorizing them, then you deserve the worst type of punishment.

Dude. I seriously believe in the parameter of “Beyond reasonable doubt!” If all they had on this dude was possession of stolen property, then where is PROOF that he murdered? The fool took it to a hanging judge instead of a jury where a judge could just smoke his azz. A jury could never hear his prior crimes unless THEY, the jury, convicted him. The jury can only hear past crimes AFTER they have convicted. This is a serious protection for THE INNOCENT. Because, let’s say you’re on trial for a DUI. You are on trial ONLY for the DUI before the jury. It is NOT FAIR to consider any past arrests or convictions in a trial other than the ONE you are under scrutiny. This trial is the ONLY one at hand. Convicting a man for his past convictions- which may have been wrong anyway- is WRONG. There is only the accusation at hand. NOW… After a conviction, THEN the jury can consider past convictions when determining punishment. But I’m in Texas. Where we’re free, but don’t commit crimes. “DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS.” Believe me, I know. I’ve been down twice here and spent three years inside and two on paper. On bullshit DUI charges.

@@EverythingQuestion there’s no reason to get nasty about it. I agree with you but our judicial system is broken enough to merit this persons reaction. @jordangipson33612 жыл бұрын
Now having replied that to the first guy, I’m sorry you had to deal with that DUI shit, but that’s a false equivalency. Murder and DUI are very different. There’s a reason we have a sex offender registry….it’s because the actions of some people, regardless of them being in the past, do matter. Now how long ago these things happened is also something to take into consideration, and I 100% agree that we should not judge our citizens forever and paint them in a bad light based on a stupid mistake. However, Hamilton wasn’t just a one off thief. The facts of the case truly are extremely damning once you recognize how connected he was to Sharp, in that he didn’t only receive one stolen item from him, but was found to have the first laptop he lost, the second laptop he lost, and a long list of electronics missing from Sharps house. Not only that, but within the confirmed time of the murder, a credit card transaction to transfer 2000 was attempted and declined to send from sharps account to Hamiltons, and afterwards said card was part of what was found in the burning debris. In my eyes, Hamilton definitely played a role; however I do believe he should have give the possibility of parole simply based on the fact that there was not enough evidence to definitely make him the actual murderer. There is enough evidence to at the very least make him a part of the murder, or an accessory if you will. And what’s fair is life with the possibility of parole in my eyes.
