This video explains and demonstrates the most effective way to install the Sentricon total colony elimination system by Dow Agrosciences so that you can eliminate and/or prevent subterranean termites from taking over your property.
I have also posted a link to the technical manual verifying the provided information. I hope this helps someone in need. Good luck!

I’m glad it helped! You can also just use a shovel to install the systems, you don’t necessarily have to use a drill with an auger. I’ve found the auger only works well as long as you find a spot that’s root and rock free..

You can install or check stations anytime of year. Just because it's winter termites don't hibernate they still feed they just adjust the feeding areas. Remember wood is a good insulator and can provide some protection from cold. When I used to do the service we had had some snow and sleet in the Oklahoma city area so for a couple of days service was suspended. When we went back out I actually found termites feeding in some stations at 3 out of 12 sights dispite having to uncover them under snow and ice in places. One spring checked some around a storage building on skids only six inches off the ground in a back yard. On one side there was standing water near the stations from rain the previous day . Checked them all and each was 80% filled with water. One had to my surprise live termites on top feeding. Put the top back on finished the inpection of the property. Found termites in 3 out of 28 stations including 2 in the front yard. Filled out my report spoke to the homeowner about findings including pointing out the active stations. Returned for the next service 3 months later in late july. The two in the front had greatly diminished activity found a new hit on the west side not a heavy one. Most interesting the one that had water around the storage shed still had some activity about like the other ones. This told me the following 1:dispite the water they will return to a food source 2: they must have been from the same colony 3: their color had changed to more of a whitish than tanish tint indicating the active bait was being spread between them. That time I had the owner go around with me and explained what was going on so that they would see how it was protecting their home. The after 2 more services no more were found. They remained on it for 9 years until they sold it and convinced the new owner to keep the protection. Bottom line the product works if you do the service right some will get quicker results some take longer it depends on the activity in the vicinity of your structure.

One of these bait stations was installed in a house I recently purchased. It was installed directly above a copper pipe. I don't know when it was installed, but it was covered over by landscape rock and not visible. The chemicals ate through a copper pipe below it and caused a water leak.

Little tip: That auger is about $80+ dollars and can heat up your portable drill badly. It's also a lot of work on your hands and knees, especially when it catches on vines, roots, and rocks. Use the auger on lawns where the ground is soft. Around the rest of the house, I used a post hole digger which will cut through roots and obstacles better than the auger. It's dry this summer, so I dig my holes until I meet resistance, and then backfill with water. Move on, making more holes along the foundation. Be lazy and let time and water do the work. When you come back, the water will be gone and you can get to depth very quickly. Also, I have very pourous soils so I didn't trench when using Termidor/Taurus SC. I mixed four gallons and applied it slowly along a ten foot stretch using a half gallon bucket. If it spreads out, go slower. If you can't get it to penetrate, you have to trench.
@WesleyAllenNC
@WesleyAllenNC Жыл бұрын
I agree with the post hole digger idea. It’ll help loosen things up quickly. But this little auger was like $15 at the big box store. (It was made for planting bulbs) but yes, hard ground and rocks are no good for it. We have a lot of clay here.

@@WesleyAllenNC I finished the job. I have a 1" auger from my over the counter Specrtacide stakes, and I used it when the clay here in Mississippi didn't cooperate. All the 2" augers I found were $80 and higher. Looking back, if the auger got the job done, I should have bought it, but it hasn't rained is more than a month, so it wouldn't have helped all that much.

How do you replace the baits after a year you can't buy them directly since it is just reserved for the pest industry?
@jonbower268
@jonbower268 2 жыл бұрын
They actually don’t get attracted to the stations … workers are constantly foraging for food to feed the colony they stumble upon them .. since soldiers can’t feed themselves they are dependent on the workers to bring food back and feed them if you pull a station out and see a lot of soldiers vs workers that means colony is dying soldiers are trying to forage for food since there are no more workers
@WesleyAllenNC
@WesleyAllenNC 2 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting. I’ve since learned that but didn’t think about the soldiers looking for food. Hey I just posted a third video about termites and it did seem that there were several soldiers inside now that you mention it. Great video but just over done in my professional opinion. Not that you were incorrect about the cardboard etc I mean if you have the time to do it, then do it up! I’m just use to doing 20 stations a house on up to 10 houses a day so I try to do it quickly and professionally. I will say that the termites tend to prefer the bait more than they do wood especially once the bait gets to looking like it’s nasty and you’d think “I should change this”. DON’T. Like he said, if it’s smaller than the base then it’s time to replace. Good luck to you guys out there doing it DIY! Where there’s a will there’s a way!

What's the difference? It seems like the alternative is way cheaper than even the eBay solution. Is it less effective? I see it's also made by Dow. If I can pay $100 versus 300 for the same amount that I'd rather do that

So as of now, the one in the video is not publicly available for direct consumers, however, pest control companies have access to them so they can charge you monthly fees to check on them.. The one linked is the next best solution available.

I've NEVER seen sentricon bait that lasted 10 years 2 - 3 at best all depends on placement ,soil type, amount of moisture year round natural or delivered by watering flower bed or grass , and lastly drainage. Also if ants get in use granular ant bait around the outside perimeter of the staion not inside. You should check the bait every 3 to 6 months especially in areas that have slow drainage.

I used to install Sentricon. The bait is made of cellulose and the main ingredient noviflumuron. Its not toxic. Also unless you have termites the stations will be checked once a year. When I installed we didn't put anything with them like cardboard, its not really needed and my training from Dow didn't even say anything about that. Not saying its wrong but you want them to get the bait. The bait doesn't attract them its a food source they will find and eat first before they get to your house. A pest control company will inspect the inside and outside of the house along with crawl spaces every year. When they check the bait stations they do the inspection. I will stop now. Lol.
