Copied over from my recent Community Tab post: So y’all, real quick: The “baby blanket” I share with you in the latest podcast episode is really intended to be a nursing lap blanket and I never really thought to mention that. I tend to refer to any blanket gifted to an expecting mother as a ‘baby blanket’. But don’t worry. This will be gifted as a nursing lap blanket and not a baby toe catcher. ❤️

As a life-long hand knitter, I also own 4 knitting machines. They are very fun! If I need fast gifts and stash busting, I pull them out. Hats, leg warmers, fast socks (i will hand knit in cut-in after thought heels and toes. If you get a sock machine knitter, cut in heels is a total fun thing. Who doesnt love a day cranking out socks!)

Of course I’m watching! ❤ Your cowl came out awesome. The easiest way to make a seamless tube is to cast on to the machine with waste yarn, crank your tube, then pick up your live stitches onto a circular needle, leave a long long tail for seaming. Then slip another circular needle into your starting row and pull out the waste yarn. Marry the open circles and Kitchener all the way around. It takes a bit of time, but worth it in the end.

The hand cranked knits off Sentro totally count, and purists who want to argue about it can fight me. There are so many people who love knitting projects but cannot do it because of things like arthritis, nerve pain, surgery recovery, who knows how many disabilities, etc, and the things people make on a Sentro machine are just as valid of an accomplishment. So there’s no shame in loving what you make with it. For real, anyone who wants to argue about that needs to sit down and wonder why their internalized ableism is such a big deal to them that they feel the need to tear someone else down for wanting or needing to use a knitting machine, instead of hurting other people’s feelings who were proud of being able to make something thanks to those machines. ♥️♥️♥️

I missed the update again....🥴 One of these times I will remember the day of instead of a couple days before and then the day after. I used to knit and crochet while watching my husband play video games and I really enjoyed that. He typically only plays PC games now and the computer is in the home office so it doesn't work like it used to. In an effort to still be together we set up a little knitting corner in the office for me. I have my yarn storage there and a small comfy armchair.

Loved your podcast. Great info on the Sentro knitter. I’ve heard of some people that have tried it. I picked up my needles about 4 years ago, after many years hiatus. Ive since retired and was fortunate enough to land a part time job at our LYS in Picton, Ontario. Suffice it to say that I don’t take home an income. But I get to play with all the luscious yarns! Our LYS, Rosehaven Yarn Shop is leaving for a fiber trip to South America in a few weeks…so I will be coming home with even more yarn…who needs to pack underwear! Love all your rambles and podcasts.

You inspired me to get two Addi knitting machines: 22 and 46. I've hand-knit for over 20 years and enjoy that process immensely, but also am intrigued by projects you can do on the machines. Plus I think my two sons and wife will love using them! We tried knitting on pegs for a while but that didn't catch on so well - managing tension can be extremely tricky. You might consider adding a twist to your next neck warmer (a'la EZ's Moebius ring) to make it even more stylish!

Tayler, your neckwarmer is so cute. If that seam is bugging the heck out of you, knit a little band and put it around it like a hair band and it will cover it. Margaret over at Sheepisly Sharing on KZbin has a ton of knitting machine ideas. She also crochets and knits and is a super nice lady. I've been thinking of getting a knitting machine for hats and Felicia at Sweet Georgia had a great video on hers. It's a tool. It's still knitting and if people don't like it they can watch something else!!

Thanks for the great idea about the life line then cutting out the portion. This would give me the motivation to complete the project and frog the unwanted portion at a separate time. I've had to frogback a difficult yarn and I get so upset with that part of the process that I wouldn't finish the project at all. Your new line of yarns looks amazing. @woolhaze
@woolhaze Жыл бұрын
My Italian is incredibly rusty, but is the middle "cia" pronounced "chi-ah"? I thought it'd be "cha", like stra-cha-tel-la? Edit: okay yeah I checked Google translate, and it's pronouncing it with "cha" - which tbh sounds like a hell of a lot easier to say than how Tayler was doing it.
@alicemarchetti4340
@alicemarchetti4340 Жыл бұрын
@@woolhaze yeah, sorry you're right, to be 100% correct it is pronounced like "cha" without the sound "i" in it cause when we have a world with the double c and then "i" and "a" (for example), the sound of the "cc" sounds kinda like there’s already and "i" in it, and so we don't add another one. But yeah, I understand that italian can be a pretty confusing language expecially for English native speakers because they're such different languages so I truly appreciated the effort you both did! Wish you a good day :))

Atlas Sweater. Hello, To choose the colors of a jacquard pattern, I have a trick that I learned. You need a strong contrasting color, that's your purple-blue, but the other two colors, mustard and gray, aren't contrasting enough and the pattern doesn't stand out. The trick is to take a black and white photo (saturation -100) of your three colors of yarn. You will notice in the photo that the mustard and the gray of the wool are almost identical (two grays are the same). On the other hand, if you match your mustard with an off-white or your gray with an off-white and take a black and white photo, the colors are not identical (two different grays). I hope this tip can help you when you are finally choosing your colors for the yoke.

I also recent,y bought a Sentro and found that the hats I made are too snug for an adult head so I’m glad you said something about it!

I agree and the expensive Addi machine is even smaller.

My 7yo's head is only 3/4" narrower than mine, and I am not a small person. So ages are complex! Another tool to ponder over: the Daruma Home Twister. You can use it as a regular winder (which is great) but it also has a mode where it will wind a cake but will add a bit of twist to very gently ply strands together, making the marled effect a bit more balanced an even when feeding into a knitting machine. Could also be awesome for when you're knitting two at a time with mohair held together, she says to herself glaring at those mittens down there.

Tayler, I love Chamomile tea as much as you and wanted to share a source for the best teas I’ve tasted. They’re from Duncan Mills Teas in CA. It is loose leaf but so worth the extra effort. Missed your last shop update but looking forward to trying some of that Arizona Tunis.

I'd like to see if you can switch up the colors even further. Like the main color is gray then blue and yellow for the contrast colors

I always feel so happy to hear about fitness who knit while their husband plays video games!! If only we could start RDR2 all over again, I’d be so happy! 😉😂 And I love your Sentro hats! If you need another child (10 years old? 12 years old?) to send a hat to, you know where to find me. 😉

My daughter turns 40 this year. What! lol I told her to enjoy it because the 40's are wonderful. Past the hassle of youth. Past the party till you puck years. lol My son will be 39 this year. I'm smiling, because I have got to watch these human's grow and become beautiful human beings. Enjoy all the mile stones your sons have and take lots of photos! The baby blanket is beautiful. I think the Centro knitting machine is like another pair of knitting needles. It's a knitting "TOOL' like any other. Think of sewing. Do we need to hand stitch our sewing, or does everyone own a sewing machine. I think the Centro has a purpose in the knitting tools. I think it's so cool that you can crank out hats so fast and they are all beautiful. Same with making socks. Oh, and I love the second color combo for your sweater where you swapped out the gray and yellow. Love the new look. Sometimes you just want the hat or sock because you are cold and need it and can't wait two weeks to hand knit it. I honestly enjoy seeing what you make on it. Keep them coming!

I've had my Sentro for a few weeks now. I too can't use it much for adult hats and I was hoping that I could find lots of stash yarn to use up. However, it doesn't seem to like the twined yarns I've made using my Kris Krafter yarn twister. So, I am looking for other projects to use it for instead of wearing out my hands. Simple hats for charity is the answer. So I won't send it back, even though the counter (like so many others have said) doesn't work, it drops stitches, or twists them, for no apparent reason and it is only really useful for knitting hats double (makes a better fabric) and this can get expensive.
