Can I just add, these machines are great for people with mobility & dexterity issues, arthritis etc, unable to knit or crochet. I understand some people feel it's not the same as knitting with needles & the time it takes creating with needles & crochet hooks but, for people who can't hold or use such tools to knit or crochet by hand, these are the next best things.

These machines are just another tool to use to create just like the needles and your sewing machine ir even a loom. People need to just get unbent about it. I just ordered my 48 needle today. I have never tried this before. I sucked at regular knitting...lol

Hello from down 🦘under . I decided against the smaller machine. I have a 40 needle Sentro that I make baby beanies (newborns for local hospital - 60-70 rows) tube scarfs (for the homeless - just knit up 2 balls of wool without having to count) and dropped stitch infinity scarves for friends. Always use waste yarn after dropping so many stitches when I first started. I still handknit the bigger beanies to give me something to do if I'm watching TV or on the train etc. Enjoyed your video thank you.

If you pull from the center of football shaped "ball" you get more of an even tension, the rolling of the ball can increase tension erratically. Looks like the hat you made could be slouchy hat for new born, or long stocking type hat.

Don’t take the yarn from the outside of the ball of wool/yarn. Find the end by poking your fingers gently into the ends of the ball to find the internal end. It may come out in a clump - once you get the feel you’ll find it a bit quicker and take less of the centre of the ball. Wrap test around the ball neatly. If you take it from the outside, the ball will roll over the floor as the yarn/wool is being used. This stops somewhat when you take it from the inside. And if you re-roll the ball with the ball maker, it will make that process easier too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a37Unqqvrb2pf9U

I wind all my yarn to centerpull carefully but two of four times w a machine -it turned out terribly w Patons classic wool Agree w twice rolls cakes I use a bowl and outer yarn end up but i think it depends very much on the yarn Using wool as my intent is warmth for homeless My daughter lived in Manhattan twice and said the adorable stylish chunky acrylic was just plain not warm Down where we live near the coast winters are brief and folk are seen in shorts when temps are 50-70 so not an issue here But i think about acrylic melting in a fire where wool is self extinguishing and wool is warm when wet I lived in UK as a child and we adored wool in the wet cold Folks seem to have forgotten about using wool as craft stores rarely stock more than one brand and then only one weight

Yes, the tensioner is to help with tension but I find that holding the yarn in my left hand before it gets to the tensioner allows me to feel the yarn and make sure its running smoothly. It is not required at all but I find it helps me, and I can hold down my machine at the same time if I need to. I don’t think most people do it like this though.

What about the noise? Whereas the clicking of needles when you knit by hand is soothing, this one is super annoying. I know, I know, this is way quicker, but the moment you want to do a slightly more elaborate stitch, this takes almost the same time. And space! Girl, with three different sizes of that machine you need your whole table. Whereas a set of interchangeable needles (or even 10 different sizes needles) takes minimum space in a drawer.
@thecraftygrrl
@thecraftygrrl 2 жыл бұрын
The noise isn't really too bad for me except on the first row but I usually have music on and singing at the top of my lungs anyway. hahah For my neurodivergent brain I get easily distracted so I have a hard time staying focused when I crochet and lose count all the time which is why I never even tried to hand knit. I LOVE crochet but could only do Amigurumi or super small projects and what I really want to do is larger pieces that I could customize. So for me, being able to machine knit 4 large panels in 2 hours gives me that creative flexible to do more design and custom finishing with crochet, sewing, or embellishments. I will always be in awe of those who can knit!!!

No hate, but hopefully you aren’t selling these for the same price that something handmade would go for. These machines are like a kick in the teeth for us fiber artists that still take the time to do it by hand.

Oh I totally understand. The painstaking time it takes to hand knit is awe inspiring. I think of the knitting machine as a tool, like a sewing machine. My hand sewn pieces would definitely take way more time and would need to be priced higher but the sewing machine makes my life easier and allows me to be more creative. Same with the knitting machine.

With all do respect why not learn how to knit & crochet by hand? I've watched my mother do both the traditional way & to me there's so much more that is able to be done by hand. It also looks like it would be easier to take the hooks & knitting needles & yarn with u.

I’ve tried many times to knit by hand but just can’t grasp it but can run up clothes all day on a sewing machine and by hand so this would be an amazing tool for me, different strokes for different folks.

I don't think Sentro sent it to you when it says "zctvbye" on the front. Name dropping for views lmao

Oh actually Sentro reached out to me directly on Instagram from their official SentroToy account. You'll see a lot of these machines going around with different names and I think it has to do with where they are manufactured. But I assure you this was officially sent from at least the official SentroToy Insta. :)
