SENTRY BOT SUCKS! - Worst Robot or Automatron Companion Build in Fallout 4

Hey guys, back with another Fallout 4 video! It seems like it's been a while since I made a Worst Guns, Weapons or Builds guide for Fallout 4 or even Borderlands. So today, I decided to make what I think is probably one of the Worst Robot or Worst Automatron Build available to the player in Fallout 4. Or at the very least I would just go ahead and rant about sentry bot companions.

When the torso overheats, it actually fully heals your sentry, so overheating is better in the long run. Also, overheating takes 5 seconds.

I've never had these problems with my sentry bot. Although I did have an issue with the Fat Man Launcher killing me, I fixed that problem with Inspirational.

That is exactly what I use it for. Also if u want to send a bunch of weapons and armor to another settlement to equip the settlers, create a bot with high capacity and manually send it to the settlement u want to go and equip the gear to. Great for the mid game.

Hence the name "SENTRY" Bot. A Sentry's job is literally to stay put and guard a location, they're meant to defend against intrusions, not actively hunt down enemies (that's the Assaultron's job!). That's precisely why they tend to be slow and are better suited to wide-open areas. If you want something that can move around more easily in tight areas (and more quickly) just use an Assaultron (or simply replace the Sentry Legs with Assaultron Legs, and problem solved!). Not to mention, I've really only seen my Sentry Bots overheat when they actually have the Sentry Legs, otherwise I have yet to see them overheat with any other sort of legs (I see them "venting" heat, but they are still moving around and fighting while that happens)....but perhaps I simply miss seeing whenever an overheat happens. I generally only use Sentry Bots to defend a settlement or act as a Provisioner. For anything else, I use Assaultron legs or the Mr. Handy Thrusters for the improved mobility they provide.

Really depends on what weapons it has. One reason this Sentry Bot was struggling was probably because of it's missile launcher, where any time it fired a missile, it was at close range, so it was most likely damaging itself in the process.

Their actually pretty good if you give them the right weapons for example I have a full sentry body with a robo brain head and two Gatling lasers and two mini nuke launchers and it tears enemy's apart

+Jackson Ellis Same here. Robobrain is the only head which gives you extra accuracy (and the Mr. Handy eyes but fuck those) and the gatling lasers are unstoppable. Plus with them the sentry nearly never goes into melee fight so it doesn't have to move a lot, it is not going to overheat.

yes and no the robobrain has less parts to armor so it misses out on a bit of damage compared to the sentry bot. honestly thats the point I was trying to make. he made a subpar underwhelming build and calls all the bots based off the frame bad. none of them are bad besides well the protectron if you move at any kind of speed. then again if you just want a mule the protectron isnt bad as long as you were not leaning on it for damage and speed. i have litterally just sat back and watched my sentry bot go to town on like 10+ supermutants. didn't go down once. hell it melts death claws so fast some times i dont even notice them. i just hear laser and then dead deathclaw bodies or ash piles. also yes the mythic and chameleon ones.

Personally I take my sentry when I'm just gonna be traveling outside, and I take my assaultron when I'm gonna be fighting inside. Sentry bots were meant to be outside combat robots, while the mr gutsy and assaultron were made for indoor fighting.

+VinylicPumaGaming Yeah I think you are wrong there. I guess it does matter what you use on the automatrons. I prefer a dual gatling laser with the robobrain head, it gives you extra accuracy and a plus damage type. I have to say that sometimes my sentry got stucked in doorways but it was quite easy to move them around, and it happens to the Mr. Handys too. It is overheating because it moves. If it sits in one place and uses the lasers it is not going to overheat. At least for me.

Sentry torso rarely ever overheats for me, and while the legs do allow a rolling charge attack with melee, it took me three minutes to lead him through a few pillars :(

mine has duel nukes (never seen them break), an explosive gatling gun (never broke) and a rocket launcher. anything that gets close to it, gets zapped by the tesla coil ability and armor defences, or I finish the enemy off. Yeah, it had problems in tight spaces, but thats not what you should use this bot for. even still, it will teleport to your position. Besides, a companion shouldnt play the game for you.

Ahhh, when someone you like acts like a angry idiot. Sad truth is, this is the Real character. Its easy to act level-headed and logical when you're recording yourself. Also, when internet celebs get any popularity, they think they are god. Your main flaw about this whole video, at least the part on its accuracy, is you failed to put a Robobrain head on the sentry. The Robobrain head, for gameplay, is the only one you should bother with.

I think the Sentry Bots biggest issue is the fact that they like to always close the distance between enemies no matter what weapon they have. So instead of lighting up enemies from a distance with its rocket launchers, minigun arms, or gatling lasers, it charges into the fray with no real tactical thinking.

if you use the primary gun on the right arm, and the secondary weapon , best if slow fire on other arm does awsome, but the torso dosent overheat if you swap legs, shoulder rockets , IT BREAKS FOR THE DURATION OF THE BATTLE it regrows when you fix it or it regens

Many of these points, I have run into from time to time. Even before Automatron came out, when I would successfully hack a Sentry bot, I was usually having major issues with the rough terrain around when I'd command it to head to a nearby enemy fortification. Though I still find the Sentry bots badass looking. I tend to just give my Automatron Sentry bots Gatling Lasers or the Flame thrower lober like Ahab, and assign them as provisionors or guards to patrol my settlements. I tend to build Assaultrons to be my traveling companions instead.

I found out all those problems, firsthand. that's why I regulated Beast of Burden(B.O.B. for short) to being a pack mule and a heavy fire support from afar. he does come in handy when have to switch from light weapons to heavy weapons.

They must have patched the bots since this update, my Ada with full Sentry bot build and most powerful weapons on her shreds both lower and upper enemies really fast now. The lower legs still area a bitch to deal with though, so might swap em out for the robobrain legs since they rocket across the area pretty fast.

I think they are pretty good for defending settlements because a lot of their flaws don't shine so much. I'm not too big into companions, so I never got to try it out for myself though.

IF you use nothing but factory parts they seem to work better as they avoid melee range, also the sentry voice seems to change the AI to focus more on range. If you build them with the right parts they work epicly for defense but are useless out side of it. Best thing to do is the following. head, laser assaultron, factory armor torso, sentry torso factory armor (seems to overheat less) both launcher arms, sentry arms, missiles or minigun. (missiles+launchers= missile spam bot bad for close range) legs assaultron legs factory armor. may be weaker then some builds but works better then a fully modded sentry bot.

Agreed for the most part. The main problems I have with Sentry Bots is their abysmal accuracy with ranged weapons. I am honestly disappointed that these things aren't as accurate as a Robobrain - supposedly being high end military tech. I've never looked at the damage too closely, given that Sentry Bots are pretty much autonomous tanks, but supposedly the energy weapons are far better than the standard ballistics and explosives.

I built the Gorgon Assaultron and made it fight Ahab, and Ahab got absolutely rekt to Oblivion. In fact, I saw a video by the channel Fluffyninjallama where it was to fight 3 deathclaws, and Gorgon desintigrated them effortlessly. On the downside though, it has 0 carrying capacity.

Voltaic Armor, Robobrain head, twin gatling lasers, and unstable fatman launchers. Assign them to supply lines and enjoy your secured Commonwealth. They'll kill just about anything before they over heat, and the fat man's don't break that often. They'll get off about six mini nukes.

These problems are legitimate but the sentry bot is meant for outdoors. so you would use this bot for traveling. but fuck that i use my maxed ada sentry in dungeons and she fuckes EVERYTHING sure she gets stuck sometimes but mostly. shes fine and i find that the launchers are really strong and the enemies i face range from 70-80+. now this is all just from my experience but finally the torso has overheated for me i shit you not 6 times in the entire time i had the dlc. now im just saying its your opinion if you dont like the bot and i respect that. this is just my experience.

I don't know, I never had too much of a problem with my sentry bot. Of course it couldn't fit through tight spaces and such, or even go through doors. Not to mention that my sentry rarely seems to overheat. I've only seen the bot do that after big battles (such as multiple enemies or boss type enemies). I do see your point though. But I'd have to disagree, mainly because I never encountered big problems with my bot.

Main problem seems that you are using different weapons on the robot, it fuqs the AI. Use two same weapons to workaround the issue. Sentry legs have one purpose: to stack bleed/votaic parts, admittedly only for outdoors combat. Sentry torsos do overheat but my experience says if you don't use sentry legs they overheat much less. And let's face it, missile/minigun/heavy flamers sucks ASS. Gatling lasers ftw.

You points may be valid, but you're forgetting one thing. You're walking around with the love child of a tank and a robot with laser machine guns for hands and shoulder-mounted nukes. And I would love to see something more rad than that. Plus, I just set up my sentry bot to have every single carryweight-boosting mod I could fit on there. Now his name is pack rat and we're best friends, because I gave him life and he carries my stuff.

I had yet for mine to overheat but still don't take mine out much. Since I like going into buildings I left it at my main settlement and assigned it to a defense placement. When I am attacked it's has made short work of most things. When "Red Rocket is being attacked" I quickly head there and just go about dropping off junk and crafting things and I hear it in the backround. 20+ settlers and noone else gets a shot in.

I disagree with the sentry bot legs. I put a set on Ada, and, for the most part, she gets around pretty well, and has saved my ass several times by charging into enemies like a bat out of hell. And, while she has a hard time getting into tight spaces, she will usually teleport to my location when I need her. I can't vouch for the torso, though. I actually agree that it's not worth the overheat. I can see benefits if you want a pack mule, but otherwise, I see no point. Also, the robobrain torso and armor looks WAY cooler on sentry bot legs than the sentry torso. As for a full sentry bot, building it for defense of a large settlement seems like a good idea. Especially if it has goos weapons in addition. I also prefer the assaultron laser head to give it one extra attack outside of the robot's other two weapons. Combine it with two heavy weapons, and bodies hit the floor. Here is how I set up Ada. Assaultron laser head Robobrain torso Sentry arms Sentry legs Lightning gun Minigun I don't remember what armor I gave her, but she wercks house when fighting. I took her like this into Nuka World, and we wiped out every raider like we were shooting fish in a barrel. Of course, this is just my experience, and you're entitled to your own opinion. Uuh perhaps rethink for a moment, 1 the sentrybot has a problem with rough terrain and is indoors, the sentry was made to be a living tank, yes the rough terrain is a problem but even you should have expected the only one that was made to be an armored tank to be unable to properly be inside dungeons and other places, it’s a tank. 2 overheating is a problem yes but it doesn’t happen as often as you think. Looking at a bunch of fallout 4 youtubers I saw that the sentry takes quite a while to overheat. 3 I don’t what’s the problem with the weapons and armor of your sentry bot in your game but even in survival my sentry is able to take hits from very strong enemies and deal a good amount of damage (and it’s also unmodded too) but like I said I’m not sure if everyone is as resilience as mine or as fragile as his.

I built a Sentry Bot in Fallout 4 and didn't have any problems with it (apart from lack of movement in tight spaces). I then put Robobrain Treads on it and i thought it worked just fine. It was pretty good.

Robobrain head, Sentry chest with dual mini nuke launchers, Sentry arms with Dual Gattling lasers, Assaultron legs, and all armor has that Vaultaic to increase energy weapon damage. Extreme accuracy and the mini nukes have yet to malfunction. It's a glorious setup.

My sentry bot one instagibs ancient behemoths on the new survival mode using dual unstable explosive miniguns and dual unstable fatman launchers it's not even fair when I barely have a chance to shoot a group of anymore and said group get blown the fuck up or when I see a mythic Deathclaw and it gets instagibbed just use carnage helm and bam easy mode just use to obtain treads if your planning on going indoors I use sentry legs because most of the time I'm outdoors and as I said it's ridiculously op more so than my op melee assaultron Angel of death your robot must be glitched if it has to cool down that often mine cool downs rarely and usually after everything gets one shot so yeah I love sentry bot Ada just remember to use to obtain treads or assaultron legs or something when planning on exploring indoors

I made a sentry bot called “BOB” my dumbass gave him the mini-nuke and nuka launchers he kills everything in his path I don’t see the problem with overheating because it’s kinda good to have so they don’t go on a rampage of mas genocide or something, the legs are a problem but mostly in my experience with BOB he’s a really good killer even if he kills me indoors

i just use it for hauling my shit. i have him park at the entrance of every indoor area and then i just offload all my crap onto him as i loot the place. i don't really count on him in fights, so it's not that big a deal.

The overheating is why I built what I like to call "Optimized Tankbots" with sentry legs & arms, but with a robobrain torso & assaultron laser head. Then I armed them with dual gatling lasers, put the tesla coil mod in the torso (so any enemy that thinks its getting clever by closing into melee range will immediately start taking additional energy damage) with voltaic armor frame (to boost its already insane energy damage output) for all parts except the waist armor & head (which don't have that option so I went with hydraulic frames for both those). SARGE 2.0 that I built to help defend the Castle is one such critter, and he took out at least two Institute Coursers and and multiple Synths by himself during the Defend the Castle mission, and he wiped them out with just the gatling lasers before his assaultron head laser had time to finish charging up.

weird.. out of all of these issues I've only had two if the ones you've mentioned. I rarely see my sentry bot go into cool down, but I have had issues with the launchers and the tight spaces. rough terrain are hardly issues and they get through buildings surprisingly easily. even on my power armor focused play through I was able to travel without power armor because I had it with me

Never had these problems except the legs, they are bad to use indoors. My Sentry bot with Gatling Laser and heavy flamer arms, fatman launcher and clusterbomb launcher, robobrain head and the armor was mostly aesthetic things. It wrecked everything. And im level 97 with a maxed plasma rifle and wear almost no armor.The only issues are the size for indoors and admittedly the poor accuracy with the shoulder launchers. Other than that, the sentry is a beast if a companion.

That is actually something to think about. While I realize that this is in part a satire it actually make a lot of good points. Through the Voltaic armor + twin Gatling lasers you won't mind the twin mini nuke launchers will be less of an issue when they break down. You also make a great argument in favor of the Robobrain. The biggest different between the Robobrain Torso and the Sentrybot torso isn't really the hp boost but the extra weapon slots. Likeside the Sentrybot legs have their own issues but they give you more armor slots for things like Voltaic armor to boost energy damage. Add in the fact that you can slap a robobrain head on most anything for an extra attack On a side note, it could be that the problems you are having with the sentrybot are a result of the way you customized it. There are a lot of possible combinations and not all of them are very effective. The "unstable" mods are confusing in a few ways. on the 1 hand they balance out over powered weapons. On the other hand this is a sinle player game, an RPG at that so who really cares about balance in a non-multiplayer environment. You could argue that they are a calculated risk designed to add some unpredictable results and inject some semblance of rpgness into this game that is at best RPG-lite.

my sentry bot doesnt overheat too much but the problem with it is that it just doesnt use gatlin laser or miniguns if i had shoulder rockets equip. idk if its just a glitch with my game or if it happens to all

Turned Ada into a Sentry bot and completed Automaton with her. She hard carried my ass trough it all on very hard. Gave her a minigun and a laser minigun and the assultron laser head, with shoulder launchers. She rained absolute death and destruction. Most things couldnt even come close. And she just kept teleporting so the sentry legs werent even that much of an issue. Now she guards the sanctuary and i keep making more sentry bots for supply lines

Replace your sentry bot's head with a robobrain head, and you'll essentially double it's accuracy with all weapons, AND add a stunning mesmetron attack. Problem solved, as it'll usually finish killing everything before it overheats. Also, switch out the legs to the assaultron legs instead.

My robot doesn't use the sentries legs since they limit it's flexibility and I've equipped two Laser Gatling guns to it. Over kill I know but it's fun letting your robots do all the work.

I can't confirm, but I heard that unstable weapons won't break if put on Codsworth, so you can have 2 fat man shoulders w/o worrying about them breaking.

And this is why I prefer Codsworth instead of a sentry bot, 3 melee slots by the thruster, 2 arm slots for guns, massive damage resistance, Ect. Codsworth may be annoying at times, but man he can become a 1 man/robot army.
