I know about the EH Silencer. The T.C. Sentry I think is more advanced, it has muti-band reductions. It is a little different in the way it tracks the signal for noise. But, thanks for replying.

Another thing that is awesome about this in comparison to other pedals is that if you have it set right and you put it after your delay pedals in the effects loop, it doesn't kill your delay tails at all, where others do. this pedal is great and I have always been a noise gate hater. lol

I love my sentry. Although I use it a bit differently. I use it through my fx loop (and patch my time based pedals through the sentry's fx loop). For one, this tames a noise issue in my fx loop, but I also discovered I could tame the tails of my delay effects (I stack two of them) and avoid the muddle.

My noise comes from my guitar (turn volume down on guitar noise goes away). How would this compare to a Decimator 2 g-string? I don't care for the way the Decimator g string cuts out. With the gate set low it closes too slow. With the gate set high it cuts notes too easily. I can't find the middle ground. If it had independent controls istead of one knob it might be better. Does the TC have much affect on tone?

Does it work with high volumes? Say 7+ on a JCM800? Did you have any problems with putting your preamp in the loop of the pedal? Question should be: can it handle Line Level (+4 db), because some FX-loops only run on that and not on -10 db. Thanks!
@ScienceofLoud9 жыл бұрын
+MHX Sentry should work equally well at all amplifier volumes. It gates based on the guitar, pedal and/or preamp levels, not on the volume coming from the power section of the amp. I had no issues taking a line out of the amp FX send and hooking it into the Return on the Sentry. In fact I found it to work best that way. I believe TC Electronic design all their pedals to work equally well at both line level and instrument level.

Hey Colin, do you have any experiences with the Bugera Trirec Infinium? Also have you had any problems with your 333? Thanks in advance!
@ScienceofLoud9 жыл бұрын
+cubegymnastir Hi, I've not had any experience with the Trirec. I've spoken to people who own the V22 and 6262 and all of them spoke very highly of those amplifiers. I've not had one single problem with my 333. I have upgraded all the valves, as the stock Bugera ones aren't great quality, and the amp has been running for a few years now without any issue. Yes, they are cheaply made amplifiers, but I think they are one of the best bargains you can buy. Worth a look.

Coming in a little late but you basically want your noise gate right at the spot where noise is generated within your chain. In most cases, you'd put it at the start, but noise may also come from a noisy pedal. In this case just pop the noise gate right before the pedal. Hope this helps !
