I appreciate you replying to these comments so late, I knew the mic on this one wasn’t amazing but I’ve seen a lot of reviews on it already and I’m genuinely confused by the quality for the price and the features with it, I wouldn’t expect them to last me longer than 7 months until the mic snaps at the base or I somehow bend the flimsy metal but I’m ok with that, it’s usually how it goes with most of my random purchases. The only difference is I actually kinda needed this one, if you use an xbox do you know if there’s an app or work around to adjust the mic audio balancing for game chat? thanks for making that choice easier, I’ll leave a like and a sub -take care
@JoeCastellon2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! I'm afraid I don't have a console yet, but I looked around and it seems the Xbox settings allow for SOME adjusting of the chat audio, though it appears to be very limited. The only workaround I can think of is to use a small mixer so that you can independently control the audio of the mic and the game. Of course this is less than ideal and defeats the purpose of wireless gameplay. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Does any headset really have surround sound anyway? Proper surround sound needs speakers in front and behind you. But headsets, by definition, are on the sides of your head. Even headsets with multiple drivers per ear are so close together that really most people likely can't discern "front" from "rear" anyway, right?

Thank you for your kind words! In regards to durability it really depends. For example if you plug them in once and pretty much never unplug them, and you’re careful to always dry the sweat off the “leather” parts, these should last for at least a couple of years. I don’t see these as much of a portable solution unless you don’t mind replacing them once a year or so.

Looking to buy these for PS4 but I thought I saw somewhere that gaming headphones that use a 3.5 mm jack won't give sound in both ears (surround sound). Is that true or do you have to buy a USB headset to get sound in both ears?.... I tried some cheaper headphones that had the 3.5 jack and it would only give me sound in one ear so that's why I'm a little hesitant to buy another 3.5mm jack headset...... Do these give good sound in both ears on PS4 or do you need to buy the more expensive USB version to get that?
@JoeCastellon Жыл бұрын
If you’re getting sound only on one ear, that has nothing to do with the surround feature. There are several nuances to your question. First, by itself, no headset will ever give you surround sound if it only connects via 3.5mm plug. There are, however, ways to get these headsets to play surround sound. So, having that said, for these to play surround sound, it will depend on how they’re connected. By definition, surround sound gives the illusion of having speakers all around you, instead of just the one on each ear. This allows for positional audio, meaning you can tell where a sound is coming from in 3D space. So if you’re having audio only on one ear, it might be that your current headset is broken, or it might be that the plug on your device is broken. Another possibility, although unlikely, is that the ps4 configuration is set to only play on one channel.
@JHolbrook89 Жыл бұрын
@@JoeCastellon is it worth paying the extra money in your opinion for the USB version over the 3.5mm version? Does it up the sound quality that much?
@JoeCastellon Жыл бұрын
@@JHolbrook89 usually, the sound through USB is better, but not necessarily miles better. There is added convenience when having a usb dongle with headphones though. The usb version does have surround capabilities though in my experience, that are usually underwhelming in budget devices. In the event your device has an issue in it's port, using the usb version should fix the problem. In this regard, it would be worth it.
@JHolbrook89 Жыл бұрын
@@JoeCastellon oh ok thanks for the feedback...I may have found the problem. I went to audio devices in settings menu and the output to headphones option was on Chat audio instead of on All audio which I think is what you were talking about before. I switched it so hopefully that fixes the problem

@JoeCastellon5 ай бұрын
The Razer program is available when you buy a Razer headset. I’m not entirely sure if it comes with an activation key (it might).
@Kirklegacy5 ай бұрын
@@JoeCastellon Never had a Razer headset. They said I can't use the "Surround Sound" option without an activation key, but just having the app itself feels different in my ears. (I used to have Razer mouses years ago, so I took that account). Razer do some modification in the Windows (11) setting and create a 7.1 output choice. It's hard to explain the difference at the point I'm wondering if I'm crazy or not, but... Without the app, it's like the sound not "hugging" your ears. When I uninstalled it (because I thought it was doing nothing), the sound quality felt empty. So, for now, I'm keeping the Razer app, even if the Surround Sound is "off" on it.

I might edit this post, but I got a weird update to share; while trying to keep my sanity with what happened. The new headset collide with me moving to another location with my gaming PC. I had to switch to WIFI; bought a T3U key from TP-Link. Meanwhile, I installed the Razer program even if I didn't had the key for the surround sound. (We changed the internet speed too, which added a new router box. Which might or not be important). Thing is, I had 3 to 4 days with a perfect WIFI connection, without even knowing I wasn't using the WIFI to it's full potential (The T3U key was not powerful enough. I had 60 mbps instead of 150 mbps). Then one day, the connection started to cut at random intervals, which might still be the case (reason I said I would edit). For days, me and my friend, being "okay" capable with computers (PC gamers, right?) tried to fix the issue. I even bought what we call "The Nighthawk (from Netgear)" which gave me my full internet speed, but it was still cutting. *TOO LONG DIDN'T READ (lol, it's the longuest part)* Here's the deal. One PC restart bypassed the authentication requirement for the Surround Sound switch from Razer (mostly a bug). I really didn't expect the headset to jump in this saga. I stopped trying to fix the WIFI and switched "ON" the Surround Sound option. I tried the 7.1 Surround Sound spheres test by Dolby and it was the most BEAUTIFUL sound I ever heard from this headset. Program was warning me to use the 7.1 audio option from Windows (even though the normal headset choice was still doing the surround sound, in my opinion); a reminder that Razer did some modification in Windows when I first installed it, days back; thus adding a 7.1 option. But the 7.1 never worked... in fact... I saw the apps connected to it... going haywire; connecting and disconnecting at the speed of light. Doing my calendar maths and think: "Was IF, the Razer program is not working properly and causing interference with my WIFI?". The date does collide, after all. The thing that got into my sanity is when I restarted the computer again, the Razer app asked me an authentication key again. Now I knew I wasn't using the Surround Sound at it's full potential, since I tasted it AND I started to be suspicious about Razer possibly causing an interference with my WIFI. Naturally, I uninstalled it and told myself I got to tell you this story. So, now, my priority lies with making sure the WIFI can stay stable AND I need a program for the Surround Sound. You told me about Windows Sonic, I'll look into it. Sorry for the long text, it's part of my personality. Thank you for sharing with me the other week, by the way. EDIT: It's not the Razer's program fault for my WIFI *facepalm*. But anyway
@JoeCastellon5 ай бұрын
@@Kirklegacy hey thanks for taking the time to share all that. It might help someone someday, for sure. Regarding your WiFi issues I’m suspecting of the T3U as USB WiFi antennas tend to be finicky and require you to be super close to the router. Your best chance is to get an Ethernet card if your computer doesn’t have a built in RJ45 jack and connect to your router via Ethernet cable. You should have zero dropouts and improved latency with this.

Why can’t 3.5mm cables have surround sound?
@JoeCastellon Жыл бұрын
They can’t by themselves, and it’s not about the cable per se. A headset that only has a 3.5mm plug has only two channels, left and right. The only way to listen to surround sound using these types of headsets is to use a virtual surround sound and this is done either by software or through a sound device. So essentially if a headphone states surround sound but it only has a 3.5mm jack, then it’s basically false advertising.
@Unit9S Жыл бұрын
@@JoeCastellon do you know of any headphones that have more than two channels? I would think all of them would only have two
@JoeCastellon Жыл бұрын
@@Unit9S yes. About 18 years ago I had a set of true surround sound headphones that had 3 speakers on each ear cup. That headphone had 3 3.5mm cables, with 2 channels each: 1 front L-R, 2 rear L-R and 3 Center-Sub Woofer. These types aren't common anymore because virtual surround has gotten just as good, if not better than true surround as far as headphones is concerned. Again: for a headphone with only a 3.5mm cable to provide virtuak surround sound, the sound source has to be processed either by the computer or by an external sound device.
