I think the simplicity of this piece scares them, so they have to technically speed it up. Where Cho lets it breath, it is magical. He is more on the right track and most of the others that play this. I would have been amazing to hear Pires play it.

There were a few comments about Horowitz on this. This is what I like about Chopin and listening to different players (and in particular this piece) because I love the Horowitz version, and yet love this - and they could be different pieces of music! A completely different feeling and story when I compare them, when enjoying them. If only we could listen to the man himself to see how played them!

연주자들의 끝없는 딜레마 원 작곡가 악보에 충실 할 것이냐 나의 해석을 중시 할 것이냐! 원곡자의 악보만 따르자니 개성없는 연주자라 할 것이고 자기만의 해석의 연주를 하자니 원곡자의 작품을 의미없이 훼손한다는 소리를 들을 것이고ᆢ지금와서 보면 앙트르몽의 1점 테러는 그런의미의 경고성 이였던것 같다. 당시 조성진의 연주는 콩쿠르 참가 학생의 그것이 아니였고 이미 다듬어지고 자신의 해석적 개성이 완벽하게 조화를 이룬 조성진의 연주는 조금 건방져 보였을 수도 있다. 궁에 들어와서 조금도 떨지 않고 웃으면서 연주하는 모짜르트를 보는 살리에르의 경계? 쯤이였던것 같다. 스승인 베로프와 당시의 조성진에 만점이나 만점가까운 점수를 준 대다수의 심사위원들이 대부분 진보적인 성향의 연주자였다 라는 것도 앙트르몽이 총대(원곡의 해석을 지키려는)를 자발적으로 메게 한 것같다. 곡 해석에 있어 극단적으로 보수적 성향을 지닌 앙트르몽은 아마 앞으로도 생전에 조성진에 관해 거의 체게바라 같이 생각할지도 모르겠다. 그 만큼 조성진의 곡의 해석은 타의 추종을 불허한다. 적어도 나는 그렇게 생각한다. 다만 앙트르몽의 지나친 걱정과 경계가 기우가 되기 위해서는 조성진 연주자 역시도 더 다각도 적인 시각과 연구가 필요 할 수 있다. 천재성은 언젠가 말라버리는 샘물 같은 것이라ᆢ성진씨가 긴 시간동안 사랑받는 연주자가 되기를 희망한다

Je viens de réécouter la très belle mazurka de Chopin par interrogation....? Il se peut que je me trompe ? Quoiqu'il en soit Lang Lang est un merveilleux pianiste virtuose. Chopin demeurera toujours pour moi un amour d'adolescence pour sa merveilleuse musique à laquelle il a. Apporté une nouveauté dans la plus belle expression de beauté de l'âme avec tant de noblesse. Son Art est sacré. Choumann ne s'y était pas trompé le premier on connaît sa réflexion célèbre. ( veuillez excuser la faute d'écriture avec cet autre genie)

C'est bien... Mais il ne découvre pas l'oeuvre en même temps que nous, on sent qu'il n'y a pas de surprise, qu'il ne fait pas revivre l'oeuvre alors que cette mazurka regorge de mystères et de changements d'ambiance. La plasticité de son rubato est réussi et intéressant, mais ça rend l'oeuvre moins "mesto", triste donc, qui est l'indication même de Chopin. Et franchement ça manque incroyablement de couleurs, d'écoute de l'harmonie et de respiration, surtout dans cette admirable et magique partie du millieu de la pièce. Michelangeli a tout dit selon moi.

This doesn't sound like a mazurka to me. It needs more "story telling", intimicy, subtlety. Actually I think this mazurka is really not suited for a contest.

It's one of my favourite, because of its intimate distant sadness - which all missing from this performance. Chopin is always feminine, and Cho's playing masculine. Every note is so real in this transcendent music. He cannot feel that body is present and soul is far away at the same time. That's what this mazurka is about. Why does he play all the bass-notes before the beat? It's so artificial and affected, and so extraneous to Chopin and to the genre of mazurka.
