Hi Dr.Sam! I love your videos, recommendations, and truth with everything beauty! I have a very random question…I have bottles of agency tretinoin that I could not get through/cannot use tretinoin at this time. I have always wondered if I mixed that with body lotion and use that as an retinol body lotion combo? Thoughts?! I would love to try to necessarie body lotion! This was a thought so I figured why not ask!
@db-gb5xi Жыл бұрын
There are some derms who don't like mixing retinoids with lotions because they say you can get patchy/hot spot application of the retinoid that way. But people do do it.
@DrSamEllis Жыл бұрын
I think if you already have the tretinoin and it would otherwise go to waste it would be fine to mix it and then apply. I wouldn’t do any pre-mixing, but if you do a little pump of your moisturizer, and then a pump of your tretinoin and combine each time you are applying then the tretinoin should stay stable. It’s not the most ideal situation, but I also think it’s quite practical to avoid waste and I wouldn’t expect it to be harmful since body skin is not particularly sensitive compared to the face (if you were to inadvertently get a tretinoin “hot spot”)

Hello, the teint idole ultra foundation contains alcohol, third ingredient, don’t you think that would be a problem for dry mature skins!? I use retin a every night, my skin is dry, I live n Canada where we get very cold and dry temperatures, so I hesitate to purchase a foundation with alcohol in it..what is your take on alcoholic hol in foundations? Thank you !
@heredianna2496 Жыл бұрын
I used to use this foundation. It was the most beautiful finish but it broke me out badly ( I have oily, sensitive acne prone skin) because of the alcohol + it's highly fragranced. If the finish was great on my oily skin it's probably too drying on dry skin. They have another version who seems more suited for dryer skin. You can still asked for samples just to be sure.

Dr. Sam, recently, an aesthtician told me that if you put sunscreen on your face (even if you let your sunscreen fully absorb) and then put foundation on top of it (especially liquid or cream), the foundation ruins the protection. She said the only thing to do when you're wearing foundation that will protect you is to use an SPF spray. This goes against everything we hear from our skincare specialists. Is there any truth to this? Can you please clear this up?
@DrSamEllis Жыл бұрын
Your sunscreen is likely to be disrupted a bit by anything you put over it, but makeup certainly does not make it ineffective 😌

So during winter I put olive oil to keep them moisturized. Is there actives or any ingredients we can't use on nipples? Thanks

You can actually just apply your normal body products all over (including breasts). Nipple eczema is actually quite common because people don’t think to moisturize there.
