OHOH! For really sweaty, hot, hormonal skin- Danessa Myricks, the balm in the tub stuff. That stuff is amazing. I once used the clear one under my armpits for a 99 degree day at an outdoor music festival, and my pits stayed bone dry for 4 hours, and still was working hard for a few hours after. It’s the ingredient in it, can’t name it, but it’s magic. The actual pigment balms are also what I end up reaching for when I don’t want to have a constant sweatstach. I’m laying it all out there, haha!

Humid sweating it all off recs- I lived in NOLA for 11 years and danced miles down the street in Mardi Gras/Decadence parades for all those years. If you want your makeup to stay on while you party below sea level, you buy the nyx matte setting spray and spray that on after your sunscreen and before your makeup, and then again after your makeup. Ben Nye final seal for the last coat if you are really serious. This is not helpful for the sale, but it was helpful in my life 😂

For the person who asked for something for oily skin in hot, humid climate, who is also sweating and dealing the dreaded perimenopause or menopause…here’s what I’ve found. I’m 46 with combo but very oily in the T-zone skin, large pores, lived in Houston, TX and started sweating uncontrollably once I turned 40 if the temp is higher than 70. I start with the Tarte timeless smoothing primer (thanks, Tati!) in my T zone and use the Fenty eazedrop stick. It blends so beautifully and is not greasy at all. It lasts all day. I do set with powder and set with setting spray before and after powdering. I also use the givenchy concealer thanks to Kackie and I’ve been loving this combo. I still get shiny after a few hours and have to powder but it lasts through sweating and even napping. I want to try the Lisa Eldridge skin tint next and see how it does.

For my sweaty friend: I'm a ballet teacher and I sweat in my makeup constantly, think big drips down the forehead sweating. I agree with Kackie: don't go with matte, you'll just mush it away and it will be very obvious when you start sweating. Go with a more natural finish, and with a good, even color deposit. I've been wearing the Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation with the Shiseido Revitalessence primer when I teach, and I don't use powder, just a spritz of setting spray and I'm golden to sweat all day. This foundation is really compatible with liquid blushes and highlights, which I also recommend to withstand the sweating! Just embrace the sweat, just glow and shine!

For the 40+ perimenopausal "sweats it off" foundation ask: it's not at Sephora, but I've done really well with a thin-ish layer of the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation, a thin layer of the Kosas powder (the new pink color is a reeeeeeeally good dupe for the original Givenchy formula in that #4 rose shade), and a setting spray (I've been using the purple Urban Decay one to give me a more "natural" texture back). I'm a 40 year old beauty photographer who already runs warm and sweats a lot, but those perimenopausal body changes are no joke, and when I'm on set, I need to look like I give a damn about makeup (because that's literally my job), but also stand and bend in weird positions for 10+ hours, carry and lift heavy equipment, etc. What I do is keep my skincare prep to a minimum in the morning--one serum that doubles as a moisturizer, and the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, since that doubles as a sunscreen AND a blurring primer without clogging my pores--the less stuff on your face, the less there is to sweat off. I'll actually apply 1.25 pumps of the foundation in my hand, and I know this sounds crazy, but I'll actually apply it to my face like I was applying the sunscreen or serum, and pat it in so it looks even. The Supergoop is so silicone-y that it spreads around pretty easily and you don't need that much foundation to get decent coverage that looks natural. The Supergoop + Chanel foundation + any powder does look a bit matte (though not mask-like), so if I want a sliiiiiiightly less-matte finish that looks more like natural skin, I'll use the Urban Decay setting spray (Up All Night, I think? Dark purple), and if I want to look more "done" and finished/formal, the pink One/Size setting spray is basically hairspray for your face--it WORKS, but it's also matte, and I found it was clogging my pores when I wore a mask. And then when you sweat, blot, don't smear. But I've had full days of shooting in hot studios with that combo, and I've looked relatively untouched by the end. And I have tried EVERYTHING.
@samanthawolov73142 күн бұрын
The perennial favorite is the Estee Lauder DoubleWear (regular, not heavy duty), and it's decent (can be thinned out, dries down, etc.), but I couldn't get as perfect of a shade match as I could with the Chanel (I'm B20 in Chanel, which is neutral with the faintest, faaaaaaintest hint of pink, whereas the 2N1 in the Estee Lauder looks a teeny bit yellow on me). So many of the other "longwear" formulas out there are either way too drying for healthy-but-maturing skin, or way too thick so that yeah, if it comes off with sweat, it looks terrible. And some formulas don't even dry down, which feels really disconcerting when you're a sweaty person (like the Dior Backstage reformulation from a few years ago). Estee Lauder actually had a sheer-er version YEARS ago (like, 10 years?) that was PERFECT--and in a plastic bottle that was perfect for travel, but they discontinued it, and the new "sheer" formula they came back with just wasn't quite the same.
@samanthawolov73142 күн бұрын
Oh, and for concealers, I second Kackie's recs of the Givenchy and Kulfi. Givenchy is more serum-y and hydrating, but still dries down (good for dry skin days, or concealer-as-skin tint days), and the Kulfi is good for everyday. Both last all day. Both work fine with or without powder (though the Givenchy sometimes looks a little shiny), but the trick (and I'm sure you know this), is to put on the bare minimum you can get away with--the less you have on, the less can come off, or crease. But I've put on The Bare Minimum for all of these products, and they've served me really well. So much so, that I've apparently written a whole essay on them. But I KNOW the struggle of sweat, humidity, and perimenopause, and if I can be helpful, I'll try.

I still use this combo now that I live in FL and it's the greatest! Add UD All Nighter for truly survives apocalypse makeup lol. Using the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer makes any foundation on top of it more waterproof and stay adhered better. Also pressing powder onto the skin instead of dusting. You can use a brush to remove excess if you feel like it's too visible when youre done.

Wow your (presumably) robe!!! stunning! Can you share where to find such robes?

I eyed that robe too! I don’t know if hers is from there, but have you seen the brand “print fresh?” They have beautiful robes/pajamas etc.

She got it from Etsy I think. She mentioned it the last time she wore it. I’m pretty sure.

Perimenopausal with combo skin here. I'd recommend skincare + Supergoop unseen sunscreen + primer if you do that step (Jane Iredale makes good ones, or the Tom Ford soft matte) + a liquid concealer for breakout (thanks hormones) + Janes Iredale powder foundation all over. If you still need some spot concealing, the MAC Studio fix powder. And then whatever products you like, I use creams, liquids, or powder. Just take care over blemishes that you don't undo your work (I'm "lucky" in that my breakouts are mostly on my nose).

I'm over 50 and I adore the Givenchy concealor which I got because of you, Kackie! I use it as topical coverage all over when I don't want a full on foundation and it's SO GOOD! and I don't like the Summer Fridays lip balm either...doesn't go on smoothly, just .....mehhhhh.... but the Ole Henricksen blends on so smoothly and completely (the SF does NOT on me) and keeps my lips smooth and hydrated for HOURS. Yay!

Im loving your new format with titles…you’ve really upgraded your videos. I have trouble understanding why someone would want to use a concealer as foundation. I have combo skin and the Prada foundation (& Lisa Eldridge tint) are my standard. xoxo

I LOVED this video. I live in Florida and have oily skin (yes, it's a hellish combo) and highly recommend: the Hourglass concealer, setting spray, and primer, Danessa Myricks blurring balm powder (it's just the BEST,) the new One Size foundation, Makeup by Mario powder, Milk Makeup setting powder, all of the Ciele products, and the Tower 28 powder. Also, surprisingly the new Patrick Ta foundation holds up well?

Can you compare Sarah Creal, Ole Henriksen and the Eadem lip balms, please? I bought the Eadem Butter Mochi and it’s my top lip product for my super dry lips. Thanks for your recommendation! They’re always dry, and need something on them at all times. I have dry skin and live in a dry climate.

The Fenty lavender powder is stunning!!

As a light olive, I second the lavender setting powder! Before Givenchy came out with the minis of the Prisme Libre powders, they had a travel size of Shade 1 that was a little pot of just purple powder. It was weird, but perfect for me. Now that they've ruined the perfect powder, I have been on the lookout for a replacement. Anna Sui also has a lavender powder and that will probably be my next purchase.

I'd recommend trying the Japanese brand Addiction. It has a very similar vibe to surratt but they've got some crazy giltery shimmery eyeshadows. I went in for a swatch and instantly brought home quite some of them. You can buy single colors and make your own palette between their eyeshadows and cheek colors.

I discovered that at least one of the ingredients that makes my lips peel off is castor oil. Which is in everything, so I only avoid it when it's in the top several ingredients. If anyone wants to test for this, I recommend testing the regular Burts Bees stick compared to the Burts Bees Ultra Conditioning stick.

I am so glad someone is finally saying they did not like the new make up by Mario eyeshadow palette It turned into mud on my eyes, the toppers were barely visible. I love his makeup, but this was a fail for me. And I was super sad about it because I really wanted the ethereal eyes palette and missed it.😢

It's really down to skin tones, I am Chinese... so I already knew blue wouldn't work on my skin but I love watching videos of it working on people and it looks beautiful. I'll just wait when he releases pink eyeshadow palette in the future.

I didn’t care for my ethereal eye palette, I used it once and now it sits in my drawer. I’ll sell it to you if you want it lol

Dior Skin and body foundation is great if you are menopausal and sweaty. It’s basically sweat proof.

On Haus Labs vs Tower28 concealer - agree on more coverage from Tower28 but I think Haus Labs has a much better shade range! Haus Labs actually has truly neutral/more desaturated options and I’ve never had a better shade match (I wear 4N). Love it so much, but I wish I could find a shade match in Tower28 since I think I’d love it too.

Totally agree with this! I’m an n4 too and it’s an exact match for me. I’m going to try a corrector under my eyes before applying it and see if that helps.

A good dupe for the YSL quad eyeshadow would be the Urban Decay half baked mini palette. Same colors, plus 2 extra.

I would normally sit quietly in the corner, but love the “mature, perimenopausal” + humidity questions. IRL, I would shout out my answers in an obnoxious, Jeopardy kind of way, but since I’ve been forewarned and in my best behavior voice… For context, I lie about my age and consider “looking 40?” a legit hobby. I use ‘LA Girl orange color corrector concealer’ under my foundation. It doesn’t emphasize my fine lines like Dermatology or look like a paste- Pixie, MUF, Beauty Pie, Glossier. (Plunking Yul is a great dupe for the Fresh Black Tea cream) Since I’m in GA, my “humidity-friendly” foundation is the SaltNY Sneaky Balm over the SuperGoop Glow Screen SPF. If I ever need to tone down the shine, my MAC Studio Fix compact is my go-to.

Perimenopausal, 43, dry in the winter, borderline oily in the summer, worked in the furnace that is Sephora @ Kohls: One Size setting spray is a savior. I could wear Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin, Mario Surreal Skin, Kosas Revealer, pretty much anything, and that shit would make it last the whole 9 hours.

I have the old henricksen lip, but tried to find a review of the chocolate one against the hot chocolate one of the summer Fridays and just found a real that just showed how they looked. I asked if they smelled similar but I’m willing to spend it for a discount.

Hi all, as I mentioned in a comment below as well I asked initial question and so grateful @Kackie featured it! And thanks for the tips everyone. I am 43 premenopausal but also I have always sweated off my make-up (apparently I have hyperactive sweat glands in my face) even when living in ultra humidity in Hong Kong in my 20's, to a very dry Johannesburg in my 30's and now living in really warm summers Italyin my 40's. I have been wondering about the JONES ROAD What the foundation could be a solution. The Sephora in Italy is pretty limited and not all the brands are available in Italy or Europe but will try the recommended ones you all mentioned below.

Inviting all feedback - I want to buy all of the below products but keep stalling for fear of picking the wrong shade (I detest the hassle of returning items). Lisa Eldridge skin tint Vieve foundation (has balm in the name) Prada foundation La Mer foundation Cle’ de’ peau foundation Christian Loubitain foundation I’m admittedly a foundation fanatic. Most of the time, I can select the option labeled light/medium neutral but more and more attempts using that strategy turn up disappointment in match.
