One thing I love is that Hades represents everything Poseidon believes a god should be, but he actually does it the right way. Poseidon is cold, Hades is not. Poseidon fights out of egotism, Hades fights out of love. Poseidon is dreaded, Hades is respected. He has all the qualities the most godly of gods believes makes one divine - a god does not team up, a god does not rely, a god does not scheme - not because he believes in his own superiority, but because of his duty as the eldest. Hades isn't arrogant, he's just an older brother. If Poseidon is the gods at their worst - what they are - then Hades is them at their best - what they should be.

@@khristianhall2646 honestly yes, exactly my impression. in terms of raw symbolism, the big point of RoR is that humanity, despite all its wickedness, is still beautiful and worthy. regardless of whether the gods represent our self-destructive tendencies (the very things they hate us for) or those of us who rule with inhuman egos, were all just meat with opinions. sadly, some of us are cruel enough to want to force our opinions onto all others.

So 2 things I like to bring up about his death 1. Poseidon body ends up in nearly the same way as adamas, upper torso detached from the rest of his body 2. He accidentally took the advice from one of the guy in the dojo kojiro trained in “if you lose your blade use your hand” grabs to broken off head of his trident “ if you lose your hands use your mouth” grabs the trident head with his teeth so in death he accidentally took someone else’s advice making even more of a joke

For Adamas, I always felt Poseidon spared him unintentionally. No, rather, subconsciously. He deep down does have some kind of brotherly care for them, even if minor, but he himself, till the end couldn't comprehend that, and that. If anything, he probably justified it in his head as testing Adamas, yes, but inwardly had humanity he suppressed till the end, which is tragic. Alternatively, it can be more simple, as in he actually failed to make it lethal enough, not giving a single, 'perfect' god killing blow, and it being a sign of how he isn't perfect for everyone has their own view of perfection, making perfection meaningless, and it being shown in his less than perfect kill strike. But I think it's the former and not this cause we already saw he's not perfect in his fight with Sasaki, and this moment came long after.

to understand and achieve success is to understand and achieve failure. Which is why, as you said in a previous video, Poseidon had to be the first God to lose. I think the most interesting thing about Poseidon is how he looks down upon virtually everyone save for someone like Hades because I think Poseidon respects Gods who truly embody their role as a God and also, in family. out of all the Gods, it was Hades whom Poseidon referred to as brother and Hades whom Poseidon wished to make sure was alive and even chastised for his reckless behavior. It's also why he had no respect for Adamas. I would *love* to see how Poseidon would have reacted to Hades' death. It's always interesting to ponder and more interesting to always see more depth to characters after they had died.

@sammyjones20818 ай бұрын
As to why Poseidon spared Adamas even when looking him in the eye with intent to kill, like he looked as Sasaki wanting to kill him, is probably for a similar reason Seph mentioned the difference in attitude Poseidon had towards Adamas and Hades. One, Sasaki, was his opponent in a fight to the death. The other, Adamas, was Poseidon's brother. Poseidon may not have liked it, but it was something he couldn't ignore, either willingly or instinctively.

This is just my opinion but I don't really think it's given enough Justice just how much the two fighters contrast each other. I mean think about it Poseidon is the most godly of gods because he is completely and utterly perfect just how a god should be. It is quite literally the defining characteristic of their entire race is that they are perfect. Where is by contrast Sasaki is the most human of all the humans, because if you really think about it what happens within each and every one of our human lives? We struggle, we suffer, we have a hard time and ultimately we fail, we fail again and again so many times. But even still we keep getting up and moving on forward, we keep trying to have fun and satisfaction in our lives despite all those failures and all the setbacks. That is exactly what happens to sasaki despite every setback every hard time he keeps getting up and moving forward. So in my opinion he's the most human of humans. And god damn is it awesome that he wins.

Hey I know I'm quite late in seeing this video but i just need to say great analysis and I hope you keep making this type of videos. It is quite funny, Hades was one or rather the only one that measured up to his idea of what a God is and yet he never really understood his brother. They fight so similarly, their habits are the same (whistling), their clothes and their looks to and yet they are so different. Poseidon fought to show his superiority as a God, while Hades fought for his brothers. Poseidon fought for his Pride, while Hades fought for Love (I think so). Poseidon insulted his opponent, while Hades respected his. Poseidon was still in denial and was petty at the end, while Hades accepted his defeat in grace. These are interesting characters indeed I wonder if Poseidon actually understood why Hades fought and carried himself in that why would he still respect him, change or rather he will be resentful and more bitter. Please share what you think everyone. Thank you

Honestly it was a big surprise and just plain it of all things in the world. He was just too perfect and never had room to grow even though he did have more to improve himself at best. flaws of the gods, Strength of Humanity. Honestly you sure you can look at those, and see whose is better but none are better and all are great. Poseidon is not whom I think what makes a God as a God can anything different besides it, sure they follow perfection, but Poseidon is not the end all be all. Despite his views and despite his outlook. He had nothing but love and respect for Hades, his older brother whom which he never referred to. I think that this facade of his is a mask to hide something, the fear of accepting growth and the need to change. If Poseidon is one thing, its Stagnation. @SephTheSIN I have to wonder are you a supporter of Humanity or the Gods. Personally I have no side and see them are not worth supporting. but what about you
@SephTheSin8 ай бұрын
If I had to say if I’m a supporter of one or the other I guess I’d have to humanity, I mean RoR is far from a morally grey story and it’s very clear the humans are ‘the good guys’ and the gods are ‘the bad guys’, and especially in the early parts of the story this is very clearly shown, I mean throughout R3 we are never shown a single thing to make us like Poseidon his flashback literally amounts to him murdering his brother, he’s written as this unlikable character on purpose because we are meant to hate his guts and be overjoyed and humanity’s first win, it’s actually quite clever to have humans vs gods as you don’t need to do much leg work on the authors side to set up who we should support as well it’s only natural we the readers will side with our own race against these assholes who want to wipe out humans, Poseidon being constantly labelled as the god of gods or the most godly of gods throughout R3 by the narrator, the other gods etc is because he is what the gods in story and us the reader are meant to perceive as the ideal god, as I said RoR ain’t very subtle with its messaging a lot of the time so when the story repeatedly calls him the god of gods is because that’s what we are meant to view him as, he is this big bad evil god that humanity must overcome to show the gods aren’t perfect, basically his defeat proves to the other gods who were constantly chanting GOG at him that what Posideon stood for their ideal image of a god is not perfect, he himself is not literally perfect but he is what the other gods viewed as perfect, he’s the ideal they all strived for, yes a god can be anything but that’s no how the gods operate, they all wanted to be like Poseidon because to the gods the most godly thing is overwhelming power, TLDR the humans have always been portrayed as the ‘good guys’ their morals have never been questioned in the story whereas the gods are constantly criticised and presented as ‘bad guys’, I ‘support’ humanity because the story is about humans defeating gods it’s not morally ambiguous or grey, it’s quite clear which side we should be rooting for hence why characters like Posidoen are given deaths to be celebrated by the reader whereas that’s not once ever happened to a human because they are who we are meant to be supporting, same as how in the MCU we may agree Thanos has some good points but at the end of the day he is still the ‘bad guy’ and we route for the avengers to win as they are the ‘good guys’
@khristianhall26468 ай бұрын
@@SephTheSin Wow I have to thank you for writing this but in my personal opinion. I don't root for Humanity or the Gods. Because i know that deep down, that there is no reason because at the end of the day there is only one thing that truly matters. Personally I don't see Humans as the good guys and Gods as the bad guys because at they are all same and I see there has to come a time where a fist should either be raised or just put down as a result. I appreciate you doing these videos but I just like to add that Humanity needs a lesson of how they can improve so this never happens again.

I'd say its because looking someone in the eye is acknowledging them as a person, most people to Posideon are of so little significance he doesn't even acknowledge their existence so why would he even bother looking in their direction, do you ever bother looking at the ants by your feet or the random grass and dirt around you, I feel its something like that, he is simply above them so they aren't even worhty of being in his eyeline

To counter the power scalers I'd like to argue that Poseidon was the weakest God, in that the way he was written he would have never won a match in the tournament.
