That “It’s so lonely” from Susanoo’ after he realized he’d lost was heartbreaking, and really hammered your point at the end home.

This fight was so fun as a sword lover.

When reading the chapters, I always saw the theme of this round as "Dying to Live and Living to Die". The former embodies Susanoo, whose easy victories made him feel lifeless and without drive because they were so easy. When he saw the emergence of swordsmanship, it became his passion, something he was so eager to master he forsook his divine position to do so. He fights in Ragnarok, a very lethal battleground, because it lets him unleash the full scope of his mastery. This is why he says he's "Boiling" throughout the fight, as even in a situation where he could die - which is the principle of unabridged swordfighting - he's feeling more alive than ever. The latter embodies Okita. He wants to follow in Leonidas' footsteps to fight and die gloriously in Ragnarok, hence his participation in it, to make up for the fact that his death was not on the battlefield but from an illness. His own skillset is even based on giving up your life to fight; his empowering Demon Child burns at his lifeforce, he enters a formless stand for life-risking attacks, and channelling his untapped potential through Volund is described as something he can only do once, harkening to the phrase "you only live once". Of the two, only Soji really goes through a development from what he embodies here, Living to Die. He remembers that he wanted to be a samurai not to die gloriously on the battlefield but to be there for his comrades. He even later says he will not die, "Not this time", until he has kept the promise he made to them, and hearing them cheer his name is what gives him one last push to clinch the win; this, not using the last of his unused potential, is why he won in the end. Whilst Soji might not have feared death, he still fought with every last thing he had to avert his own and win, because there were other reasons for him to fight.

Studying historical Okita was what got me into swordsmanship and that brought me all the way to Japan where I’m studying Kenjutsu. I had been looking forward to this round for ages. I love the way Okita was portrayed and Susanoo was so charismatic.

Can't believe we're about to get to round 11. It feels not so long ago that I finished season 1 of the anime and caught up to the manga (round 7) in a matter of days.

Okita picked up the sword to fight for his family, Susanoo picked up the sword in exchange he was exiled by his family.

While I really loved it, I do think a few things coulda been better. Okita plot-wise may have been the one that should've have won, and I agree with that, but I'd have liked it if it reflected his desperation more. He was renowned to have been on the brink of death over and over, improvising in any situation where he could wield his blade, so him finishing Susanoo with his Triple Stab move felt... Unfitting? He already repeated it in his ultimate technique, which left Susanoo nearly dead before he reached his peak and cut his insides. Repeating it a 3rd time felt unnecessary. Contrarily, we got him throwing his blade when things were dangerous, doing an instinctive and dangerous move that paid off because of his battle instincts. So I think it would have fit very well if, as he was about to die, instead of managing to run up and make a Triple Stab, Okita used his one good leg to leap forward, and threw his sword at Susanoo in the same manner as earlier, a move born from experience, desperation, and countless survivals at the brink, that would pierce him as Susanoo was just too worn at this point, too slow to react on time, and despite his mastery, much by his own words, was having his first, true battle now, and lacked the experience to react on time in this wounded state, that one single, simple sword throw being the finish. I know it's not a 'named move' that would be iconic, and can be put in the 'winning move' section of the post fight little blurb, it'd be not as cool sounding to just read 'finishing move, thrown sword' or something, but I feel it would've done well to really show off that experience, practical experience against real opponents and battle instinct, is what allowed Okita to surpass Susanoo in the end, even if Susanoo had many more years to train on his lonesome. Still loved this fight, but it felt like the ending lost a bit of its impact for me with Okita not finishing it in a more desperate, but less anime way, if that makes sense? Like, not toughing it out and using his broken parts of his body to move - when even Lu Bu couldn't use his legs, just barely, if extremely impressively stand on them - and instead used his mastery of life and death situations to work around that even in a simple way, to show off that he'd only ever be down if he was utterly and unquestionably dead.

Finally someone making a vid of this. By far the best fight and the most interesting that is just way too unpredictable too
@petarpoljak6918Күн бұрын
What do you mean unpredictable? Granted, i liked the fight, but it was pretty obvious Okita Souji would win, hell his last chapter is Qin Shi Huang levels of an deus ex victory

Actually I thought it would be a draw and not a win for Okita. I didn’t actually know what they would do
@petarpoljak6918Күн бұрын
@@bardon1694 This idea of a draw was said since round 4 and by this point it's worthless to think about it. Personally, i think it would be either round 12 or 13 that will result in a tie, or maybe the future fight of Anubis and Rasputin? I don't really know, but i knew Okita would win.

To my Understanding Round 10 Okita vs. Susano showed the theme of limitations Showing the limits of yourself, what you could achieve, and what you currently have. The Limts of Desires. They showed that they could have Surpassed their Limits. Susano is the very First God in the series to have surpassed his own power during ragnarok. Most of the gods fighting are just taking their fullest, not holding back risking their lives. I mean, Susano isn't any different, but what makes his Awakening different is that when he Transcendied into the Sword of Nothing, he had a new understanding.
