I have just started my love affair with the him411, what a peach of a bike, bags of smiles every time I ride it. lots of character , rugged ,reliable, affordable , cheap to run. good looking bike. Looking forward to many miles and new friends on the way. New 450 water cooled version now available, but this 411 has the charm.

Incredible journey! (I've hit the same corners and Alaska, but not in ONE continuous trip!!!) A true testimonial to Less is More. I've ridden the western TAT and AZBDR on a 250 enduro - and the 411cc Himalayan is luxury and massive upgrade in comparison.

Respect to you sir for those miles and that tour. I get the bit of emotion, happened to me after I rode from the bottom to the top of the UK, nothing compared to your tour but all the same it was a nice achievement. I’ve subsequently done the side to side as well so my Himmy ( anode ) has done all “ four corners “ of mainland Britain. I’ve very loyal to it as no doubt you are. Stay safe keep adventuring

Nice to see that the Himalayan hold on after this long trip. Hired one for quick tour of Morroco in North Africa. The bike was just amazing and went through a lot in 1000 miles tour. Weither it was river crossing, mountain road, dirt tracks etc... and in comfort too. A lot of bike for a little money. Carry on and best wishes. Guy

Great review. I’ve done 10,000 on mine and love it … It’s like a faithful, humble and reliable friend. I had the same experience with the “clunky” drive and found that a fresh lube fixed it immediately. I reckon an upgraded chain and sprocket might be the go.

Just fantastic! That trip just sounds amazing. I'm an older guy now and used to many bikes much larger. I have a Scram 411 and I can totally appreciate your feelings of these amazing 411s that possess some special 'spirit'. I can appreciate the pleasure that Himalayan must give on a trip like that. I agree that the capacity might be improved for a little more punch, but then again it would lose something (as the 452 seems to be doing). You mentioned the 650 - I also have a INT650 and the 411 is always my preferred. Hope you get that work - wish I could help. Respect.

You've talked me into buying one, your honest assessment of the bike, is what I have been looking for, especially from someone from my same age bracket. The other reviews I have seen come from young blokes, whom want power and speed, I need neither of those. Thankyou for enlightening me on the bike, as I have been interested in for the last 18 months but not committed. Now I will go in, do a test ride, and most probably buy.

Just watching your review on the himi after your 22k trip it’s a interesting video to watch I’ve had my Himalayan Scram411 for nearly a year and after 60 or so bikes I’m still very impressed with the Himalayan despite not doing the mileage you’re done. Glad to see that someone did a cross country and then some trip on the Himalayan. I was thinking about doing one, but wasn't so sure if she would stand up to it. you must be very lucky. I purchased a 2019 version and I just got her running a couple of days ago. for unknown reasons, one day she wouldn't start. went through a bunch of conflicting tests and proceedures. still don't know the cause. I'm just happy that she's running again. after purchasing her also had a few warranty issues. I still love her though, she introduced me to the world of moto camping. Hope you get some rest.

I am of the age now where goin fast don't interest me any more and the joy of just being on a bike taking it all in is all l want. Want the choice of goin on a few back roads an the of 4x4 track. In Australia we can avoid the highways and the speed limit at most is only 100/110 k's 60/65 mph so l think this bike will be perfect for all l need. Great review and high respect for the miles. I put in a TEC cam and a bigger front sprocket and it hums along fine at 70 now without giving anything up on the bottom end. Agreed its an amazing bike.I'm saving for a RE tattoo so the Harley guys aren't the only brand loyalty crew. I know a guy who rides a Himi daily, to a total of 70,000miles in the last three years. The bike came with the RE guarantee & roadside assistance. In the three years he's owned it, roadside assistance got called once. The reason? water in the fuel. Not the bike's fault, the gas station had an issue with their supplier & got a bad tankerload that turned out to be mainly water. Other'n that & wear items, he's had zero issues...

I wish I'd gotten one of the solid ones that other people got. I love my himmy, and I've come to terms with the reality that she's going to be a project bike to keep her consistent. But I'm still jealous of all the people that got one and have experienced nothing but easy rides.

When and where did you do your valve adjustments, or didn't ya do it? What were your oil change intervals in miles? Did you carry several oil filters and o-rings with you?. Clutch plates wore out,or still works ok?. Lube the cables? We professional mechanics would love your feedback also for many people that are concidering buying this bike please!... Fantastic trip/journey Brother!.

Greetings Crockett, & my apologies for such a late reply! Had valves done at around 14,000 miles, I think, & had it done at The Motorcycle Shop in Anchorage AK. If I remember correctly, had oil changes done a couple, or few times somewhere between 5 & 6 thousand miles, then switched to full synthetic & stretched the mileage out even further. I did not carry extra oil filters, or o rings, but I hindsight I certainly would, because places didn't have them in stock, & I had to get one, or 2 oil changes without replacing the filter. Thanks so much for watching & commenting!

Do yourself a favour and use Dupont Chain Saver instead of oil for your chain. It's easy to use. Your chain will stay cleaner and will last much longer, and it doesn't fling off in the rain. I'm looking at a Himalayan for myself, so it's good to see you had no problems on this extended trip.

I have a Himalayan and man I want to do what you're doin someday. For now, just some overnight type trips but might do a week long one. Since you've been all over - what do you recommend since I live in West Michigan (lower peninsula). I was thinking either to the Appalachian mountains and back (West Virginia) or up into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan even though I've been there a few times.

Hey Nicholas, thanks for watching & for the comment! Yes sir, WV is certainly a good option, in particular, the Seneca Rocks area & over towards the Shenandoahs are beautiful! And, the U.P., as you had mentioned, is a great place to ride - I absolutely loved it up there! If ya have the time, I highly recommend anywhere in the West/Southwest, but especially the areas like Moab Utah & over towards & around the Grand Canyon, it's all spectacular country & ride'n! Thanks again, enjoy your adventures!

Great Video! Question. Could you have done this same trip on a Int650? I am torn between the two. I love the himalayan and keep coming back to it…but i am a big guy and wonder if I wouldn’t be better suited with a Int650 just for the engine size and ability to move around. If would be my first bike.

Hey guys, I had the valves done in Anchorage, which was like 14,000 miles on the bike, & I haven't had them done again since; from what I remember they weren't too far off of the factory specs, but I don't remember exactly. Sorry I couldn't tell ya more, but I hope that helps, & thanks for watching!

@purplepilgrimadventures6506

Greetings Samir, I did not do any of the maintenance, but called ahead to different shops as I traveled & made appointments to get the work done; at first changed oil around every 4,000 miles, or so, then switched to full synthetic & stretched it out to like 6 or 7,000, I believe; I don't recommend the full synthetic though, & plan to switch back to semi synthetic at my next oil change. Also, started replacing oil filter like every other oil change. Had a major service done in Anchorage AK, about half way through my trip, such as replace front sprocket, chain, & valves adjusted. Hope that helps, I appreciate you watching & the comment/question! Thanks, ride safe & have fun!

You are carrying a lot of gear and that would act like a wind brake at speed. The 17 inch rear wheel makes it difficult to find a tyre in many bike shops, especially in rural areas. My DR650RS used to burn synthetic oil too. Perhaps it is air cooled motors looser cylinder tolerances or running hotter than water cooled bikes that causes it?

bike is great for what it is. It will never win any race, but it'll get you where you want to go. It ain't built for american highway speeds, but it'll scoot along back roads and country track as long as you want to ride it. And can handle just about anything but the most extreme off road. There are some quirks, you hang out in the forums or facebook groups for these bikes... relays, evap issues. stalling issues. but I think for most people that have this bike, and are ok with it's specs. it's a lovable mule.
