Goodness, one of these days I'm going to see myself getting off of one of these buses if you kept filming around my stops. The neoplans were great of course, but the NABI's felt hefty in design. They don't make them like that anymore.

This was around the time I began riding SEPTA as living in Trenton, NJ we have a route that goes into Bucks County (127 Trenton-Oxford Valley Mall), and connects with NJ Transit in Trenton.

A good time ago when you weren't shot or killed on these busses, or nearly getting poke by syringes and piss on you. So tragic these days.

I wish Septa would have kept a few buses in their fleet under the old paint scheme before they were retired and replaced. And that the NABI kept the “S” on back window

Nope.... fraid not.

I swear I read that those Volvos had a 315 NTC 855 Cummins shoved in them? If that's true, that must have been one mean machine. The torque alone would have you climbing Strawberry Mansion Hill with no trouble.

Unfortunately, whatever was in there, it wasn't THAT great. They could barely make it up the hill empty on Ridge Avenue from Wissahickon T.C. And God help everybody if you caught a stop at Wissahickon Station.... ohhhh the agony of getting restarted! And that was on dry road conditions.....

They had 270hp Volvo THD-100EK engines in them in a pankcake style under the floor. They were a 9.6 litre engine and they were underpowered for the articulated buses. I did hear they were good on highways though, for the Samtrans units out in San Mateo County in California. MAN had the same issues on the SG220 articulated buses, but the SG310s had much more power to them.
