September 2020 Update : Cardiff Met University - Study in the UK | Cardiff Met International

A message from Cardiff Met International with an update about the September 2020 intake at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
I talk about changes that will be in place for the September 2020 intake. The key message being the new start date of Monday 28th September.
I also talk about how learning and teaching will look in the Autumn term, as well as measures in place to help international students who may face delays with coming to the UK.
We understand there are many more questions students will have about coming to study in the UK in September. As the answers become available, I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Thanks for getting in touch! The answer is no, you don’t have to use the university self-isolation accommodation. If you have made your own arrangements, that’s also fine! However you are able to book into our self-isolation accommodation even if you are not then staying in our university accommodation afterwards. I hope that helps, Jack

Hi Simran, the team at the university has been redeveloping our induction and social programme, in conjunction with the Students’ Union, to ensure that all new students get the best start to life at Cardiff Met as possible, whether online, on campus or a mixture of both. So this means if you're unable to attend initial on-campus events, you'll have access to all material online. Also, as restrictions ease and more students can be on-campus. there will be additional events which you'd be able to attend. I hope that helps for now. Thanks, Jack

Thanks for getting in touch. At the moment there are changes to quarantine every week, so it will be impossible to know in advance if it will be required. Yes! In fact if you are delayed from getting to Cardiff due to any reason linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as visa delay, limited flight availability etc., you will be able to begin your studies and enrol online before you travel to the UK. I hope this helps, Jack

Hi Fahim, it will be a little different this year, as we are allowing students to enrol before they arrive into the UK. At the moment the latest we are recommending students arrive into the UK is early November, however if it is still not possible for you at this time, you should get in touch with the university. Hi Pradeep, if you are coming to study at degree level (a bachelors or masters degree), then you can just take the PTE Academic Test. It doesn't need to be the UKVI Test for masters. Thanks, Jack

Hi Viddya - yes, you don't need to worry about this. You will receive a refund of your deposit if you are unable to join your course due to all circumstances linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hi Sai, universities are only able to issue CAS three months before the start date of a course. As the start date has now been changed to 28th September, the earliest we can start issuing CAS is 28th June. So we will most likely issue your CAS at the beginning of July if you have already paid your AFP. If this changes, I'll update you. Thanks, Jack

You would need to make an application, and send all of your transcripts from your Computer bachelors, then the Course Director would assess whether you can join the course. If you are offered a place on the course, the visa would be no problem. Thanks, Jack

Hi Arun, thanks for getting in touch. Depending on whether or not your course also has a January intake, if you are unable to arrive to the university for the September intake, you will be able to defer your studies. If your course doesn't have a January intake, you will need to defer to September 2021. The 6 month instalment plan is confirmed for this September 2020 intake, but may not be in place for the January 2021 intake. We will confirm this a little closer to the intake. This course doesn't usually have a January intake, so the Course Team is still investigating whether it will be possible to run it in both September and January. If you will not be taking your exams until next month, unfortunately you will need to wait to apply for the next available intake, as the conditions deadline has now passed, and the payment deadline for CAS is next week. Even though students may not be able to travel to the UK straight away, they will need to start their studies remotely, which they can't do until they've received an unconditional offer, and made a payment. Usually there has always been plenty of opportunities for Part Time jobs in Cardiff, however there is a chance that it will be more competitive finding a job in light of restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hi Mubeen, thanks for your question. At the moment, all students should be allowed to come to the UK in September, the only question will be whether you would need to quarantine once you arrive. At the moment, the rules are you would need to quarantine for 14 days. However this could well change before September, and it might not be necessary. If it is necessary, the university will be able to give you access to somewhere to stay in Cardiff, before coming to the university to start your on-campus studies. I hope that helps for now, Jack

Thanks for getting in touch Shruthi! You wouldn't be able to apply for your CAS until you have an unconditional offer, so you would most likely have to wait until next semester. If you have received your results, just not your certificates, you may be able to start sooner, but if you are still waiting to take the exams, and the moment you would have to wait.
