We want Games, not Activism. We don't care, we never have cared. Make Good Games with Fun Characters, interesting Stories and Good Gameplay, Gamers will Buy. If you don't, we won't. It's not rocket science. This market is NOT the same as Movies, Comic Books, Tv and Films. Don't treat Gamers like other Fan groups, We are different and Hold more Power then Activists realize. For 40 + Years Gamers criticize Games, so Devs improve the next project they work on. Or nowadays make a Patch to fix broken Gameplay, Glitches and other issues. If We didn't offer Critic, Games would not Change. Game Devs appreciate Feedback. I've personally worked with many Game Devs over the years that love hearing what People thought about their Games, Good or Bad. Gaming and Game Culture is the only Media where Fans and Developers are equals. Because We are all Gamers and hopefully We ALL Love Games & our Culture of Gaming too. We grew up playing these Games from the 80s, 90s,00s and wanted to make and play our own Cool Stuff. No other media listens to Fans or allows US the Power to topple Game Studios. Voice your concerns, speak with your heart and Fight Bad Games and Bad Practices. Forever.

This needs to be said. Gamers are NOT against diversity. We've loved diversity in our games since gaming's inception. These days if any show, movie or game has a diverse cast and it gets hated for completely different reasons the creators immediately jump to call us "racists". If gamers are such racists then how come games like tekken, prototype, final fantasy and more get so much love? Those games are also diverse. Have characters from many backgrounds. That's because those games prioritised being a good game first. And the diverse character are well designed, well written characters that feel like real people and not caricatures. What we hate is forced diversity. That's what DEI is. Diversity for the sake of it. We hate race swaps, gender swaps, unappealing and ugly character designs because you're too afraid to "offend" someone by making a good looking character. Truth be told, these days it feels like the industry has lost its balls. Gaming was bold. Daring. Innovative. Now it's safe. Boring. And cringe. But it won't be for long cuz how many concords can they make? They don't have unlimited money. One day they will have to stop and go back to making good games that gamers want.
@darkwraithjinx2282 ай бұрын
My issue is, what do you consider ugly? Gender and race swaps can be good but often are bad because writers are rushed or incompetent. People who say that theyre against DEI make broad stroke statements like that without the nuance that NEEDS to be brought to the table. If you dont youre just as bad as the people you’re reeling against.
@kikixchannel2 ай бұрын
@@darkwraithjinx228 Gender and race swaps are virtually never good, unless the game is ALL about it (which only really works in adult games, generally swapping male individuals into pretty women). If you swap a single character in a franchise, it is 100% bad, no matter the circumstances and quality of work. If you want a character of this or that race and gender, then make a NEW character. Ferrari is Ferriar because it's...Ferrari. Not Toyota, Peugeot or M.A.N.
@teenagesteveminecraft2 ай бұрын
@@flamingburitto I mean - yeah but also consider the fact that it's not "forced" in the sense that developers aren't pressured into DEI or anything, they strategically choose to include these things into games [often poorly] because they think it'll make them more money. A great non-gaming example is Harry Potter. There was no need to suddenly make Dumbledore gay [which is something Overwatch would do later], it was just simple catering and it was done poorly. That's why these characters don't really resonate with the demographic they are targeting, but also don't resonate with the general public either. The problem isn't DEI, it's making characters for the sole reason of ticking boxes. That's the real problem
@ScouterVee2 ай бұрын
@@darkwraithjinx228 Honestly, it's probably going to take time before people stop saying DEI and woke on everything. These companies and activists have damaged the industry.
@buzzsawkhan2 ай бұрын
@@teenagesteveminecraftWhile I overall agree with your point, I would say that you're describing the culture of DEI while distancing it from the "official DEI." At it's core, DEI is based on false claims and wrong assumptions: specifically, that "minorities" (unlike majorities) can't make the mental leap to relate to characters on the basis of their character, but must see someone physically like the minority in order to invest in those characters. This claim is not just false, but legitimately bigoted; it diminishes and infantalizes the people supposedly being catered to.

don't feel bad for the developers. a creative disaster of this scale can only happen in an echo chamber. the contempt these developers have for differing opinions probably stems much further back than just fighting Concord haters on twitter. if they had been open to feedback from literally almost anyone outside of their little bubble, they would have realized how awful their character roster is, both artistically and in gameplay design. they would have realized their stale hero shooter is nowhere near innovative enough to succeed, especially in a genre controlled by F2P games. a trained eye could have probably seen disaster coming 6 months or a year into this trainwreck's development. I can virtually guarantee that these devs deluded themselves for years and years into believing that their game was unique and special and everyone would love it. this is the reality of these people's childish beliefs, a wonderland of infantile self-deception, telling yourself that you are the best or special or different without the track record to prove it, followed by the crushing realization that you really weren't so great. always strive to improve. never tell yourself "I'm good enough, I don't need to get better, stronger or smarter." or this is your fate. never let anyone fool you into thinking life will agree with your delusions.

I don't know, I've seen dumber shit. Squeenix burned money on NFTs and sold their most valuable Western IPs for the _eye-watering sum_ of fucking $300 million just a few years ago which is absurdly undervalued. That includes Tomb Raider which became one of the biggest AAA franchises practically overnight. I won't say anything about my personal preferences for the newer TR games, but they were objectively sales beasts. Earlier this year Amazon announced a whole TV series based on TR, of which Squeenix will never see a single damn cent. And it's all almost certainly because one of the oldest guys at the company had a tantrum and was mad that Final Fantasy wasn't as successful as it should be. If you account for the potential value of those IPs, there are easily several billion dollars Squeenix flushed down the toilet, for no other reason than they were lazy. $250 million compared to that seems like a drop in the bucket.

It's not great that we have to celebrate "victories" that are essentially failed games, but these failures are being celebrated because we've been gaslit that our complaints are unfounded. Everyone has repeatedly said that including diverse characters aren't a problem, it's filling out a checkbox to make a game that's the problem. Can we just have some unbridled (uncensored and mature) creativity by inspired creators make some fun and aestheticly stylish games again? If you have to ask a question like "Why is her armor like that?" or, "Why does the guy have to blow everything up?" the answer should always be, "Because it's cool and fun".
