Wanted to add something I've not seen repeated elsewhere. In the Japanese-american youtuber Dashblue's video (found here: /watch?v=rxydfYaAwjw ) his wife who is fully Japanese points something out (actually a whole slew of things the woman has eagle eyes, maxed out perception): They are giving Yaskue both clothes and a sword riddled with Nobunaga's family crest. The issue? You have to ask for permission to use that, as that family IS STILL AROUND TO THIS VERY DAY. 100% chance they just went and added it thinking its fine because historical revisionism is fun. Oh they also added the crests to banners in the game but then fucked up the format so its stretched out and cut off on the banners. This is a legit insult and would've had a banner maker killed for his insolence back in those days. So not only have they just most likely not asked for permission, their lazy approach to things where they cut corners have brought a great insult to the Nobunaga family. Not that they care of course, gotta shove the Message (tm) everywhere.

Watching billions of dollars burn at the Alter of Woke and its insatiable lust to meet an infinitely growing list of standards that none of the rest of us even have to participate in. It's like Denethor in LotR. He went so insane with hatred and fear of everything going on outside, that he lit himself on fire and threw himself off the top of the keep. Even though the battle was ending and his side had already won. These people are driving themselves absolutely nuts trying to create a world that already exists. America and most of the Western world is already a place where people of all creeds and colors and cultures are already accepted and happily existing together. All they need to do is walk outside and open their eyes, but instead they're burning their company and career and lives to the ground.

The biggest problem with this game is not that it is historically inaccurate (as many AC defenders use the "it was never accurate" argument). The real problem is that Ubisoft is actively and a blatantly DISRESPECTING an entire country which in this case is Japan. The Samurai character should've been another more well known Japanese historical figure. Yasuke would be great as an NPC that you help out rather than pick him as a center and placed ABOVE ALL JAPAN as the Samurai character in the Creed.
@AidilAfham2 ай бұрын
Nah I think its because its historically inaccurate while claiming it is and then doubling down on it. They could lean more towards the fantastical bullshit they do for their DLCs with mythological figures and no one would call foul. Thomas Lockley released two versions of his book, one for the local Japanese audience that had most (not all) of the absurd claims removed and one for the International audience that was filled with these absurd claims, which shows he knows he was making it all up and didn't want to get called out in Japan for it, making it appear more as a work of fiction unlike the International release. Also there is evidence linking Thomas Lockley to likely having been a consultant that Ubisoft did in fact use for making this game. Ultimately the game is based off of Thomas Lockley's work and work he published in the International release of his book as if it were factual when it was all fiction. Ubisoft had one job....just one. The right protagonists for their last two games. A Japanese protagonist for Assassin's Creed Shadows and Han Solo for Outlaws. They would have been swimming in money right now. Hope the activists can bail you out

Ubisoft just can't help themselves but step in it. You could put Ubisoft in a wide open space with a 359° arc of wide open, clear space around them and an extremely narrow 1° cone of dog feces. Ubisoft would immediately head straight for the dog poop and step in it. It's incredible how they just keep stepping in it over and over and over...

Makes too much sense if you look at the list of screw-ups that Ubisoft did. At a former Japanese gaming expo f.e. they showed "Yasukes sword" but instead of a replica of the videgames sword design they had a cheap replica from One-Piece. That thing doesn't look even close to the sword featured in the game 😂 Then an artist was complaining that Ubisoft used some of his designs in the official artbook without asking. The pinned comment in this section is also quite interesting in this regard. In some areas of the game you can find Chinese architecture and now they presented the half of a gate without even wondering why there's only one half of it. I guess if those people would make AC Brotherhood today the people of Rome would all live in ruins 🤷♂️ Still, if any of these screw-ups would have happened alone I would consider them as minor mistakes that can happen but the amount of minor mistakes during the promotion phase makes me wonder what else they got wrong in the final game.
@Mr__ChickenАй бұрын
Funny you mention they used wikipedia because the "historian" they relied on took a few paragraphs written about Yasuke and wrote an entire book on him by "filling in the blanks" and basically just guessing a lot of things. The most crazy thing though? He was updating the wikipedia page referencing/sourcing a book that he wrote and hadn't published...

Their marketing team and PR team really need to get replaced, how does a video game company get so much hate before the release of a product they spend the past years making? It’s like they have no idea what normal people like and doesn’t like?

It's not marketing fault though. The fundamental problem came from extremely poor research done by fake scholars. It is their fault, as well as management who hired these fake scholars in the first place.

I’m a westerner, and learned a lot from this video, thank you making this I remember how excited I was seeing the announcement for the game, because I’m a long time AC fan, but my faith in Ubisoft as a developer had been nonexistent for a while now. (like, probably since Odyssey was announced) Like, I was excited that they were finally doing it, but was worried that they wouldn’t be careful enough, as I know Japanese culture and customs should NEVER be disrespected, misinterpreted, misrepresented, as they are very, VERY important to Japan. (As the same should be with any culture in the world that a developer/author/filmmaker/artist/etc is choosing to depict that isn’t their own) I really want this game, as I remember wanting to see an AC set in Japan for so long. I know Ubisoft is bad, I know they’re horrible, and although I want this game… I feel like if I do get it, I’m gonna be a horrible person for even considering it after watching this. (Which I doubt was the initial intention of this video) Like it’s a game I’ve been wishing for so long, but at the same time I know Ubisoft made a ton of mistakes, and getting the game will just likely just support them as they have a lot of bad habits as people, but I don’t want that on my conscious, so I’m stuck in this limbo state of “should I get it and play the game I’ve been wanting to play for so long?” or “I should try and resist the temptation of this one thing I’ve waited so long for?” Thank you for making this video, it’s given me a lot to think about, and I deeply apologize if any of this possibly offends anyone, as it was never my intent. (which won’t excuse it if it did, which again I apologize in advance)

For those who don't know a Torii Gate on Tsushima island was destroyed and with Sucker Punches Help they raised Money to fix it. So Ubisoft keep doing what your doing I for one will boot up my copy of GOT when they launch AC shadows and have it on just show them we are done and also show Sony that this what we want and not what they want to give us as consumers we should do it and it should be a movement. So if you have Ghost I urge everyone to boot the game on when Ubisoft launches that awful game "Make Gaming Great Again"
