My beautiful maranta just decided to croak recently. All the new growth came in brownish and dry looking. Not sure what it was. Might try one in pon.

Omg same thing happened with my variegated raph. tetra when I tried to prop it the first time! The second time around, I made cuttings with two nodes and put them in water and they all survived! Don't callus them cause I think that also contributed to the rot (I also callused them the first time too but not the second time). Glad you still have your bottom cut!

I'm not nearly the grower you are, but I do have 10 phalaenopsis orchids. If you can, wait until after it blooms to repot yours, as repotting is likely to kill off the bloom. Yes, a lot of bang for your buck with phals😜

They are my fav because they are long for and I get to see your whole collection! ❤❤ 47:27 the snake plants will be fine outside! Just cover them or bring them in for frosts and anything below 45/50 degrees! I’m in New Orleans so I’m close to you in temps and I find most plants are fine in the 45-50 range because we are close to the equator!

Thank you! I'm going to buy a few frost blankets and protect what I can this winter. I would love to leave more plants out there. Jacksonville, FL isn't far from us and I see so many plants outside there that grow fine outdoors. It's Hoya Decipulae! I probably pronounced it wrong haha.
@jpgypsyxo4 ай бұрын
@@plantsbymelissa yes! A lot more plants can hang much more than you’d think! Especially because it’s humid cold and instead of a dry cool; and slightly warmer. You can also fold or layer multiple of them for extra protection. Just don’t make the mistake I did!!! If you want to use a sheet or any other kind of blanket, I highly recommend AGAINST doing that or if you must… make sure it doesn’t isn’t touching ANY leaves whatsoever…even if you put a frost blanket underneath. Usually, when I have to cover them over night, I am very sure to uncover them by the time the sun comes up or the weather is back up around 45-50s. However… I ran into a problem where it was really cold for a number of days… like 4 days it was below 30s, even during the day. I ‘stupidly’ put a sheet over the frost cloth and because it was below 30s i DID keep it covered for the full 4 days, not letting it break. The flux of the weather, humidity, condensation must have cause the blankets freeze and thaw while it was touching the leaves of my small and large form monsteras and the leaves in turn froze and thawed and proceeded to MELT (and I mean melt the leaves completely off). But anywho… I will say (other than that) that the frost blankets have never let me down in the 3 or so years I’ve had my plants outside. And I mean my whole collection is outside! Right now we live with family and they have to stay outside for now.

If your Orchid gave you new leaves and new growth I doubt if you have root rot from it “yet”. I always take the Orchid’s out and repot them when I get them home because the moss they put them in just rots the roots. Sadly though, if you do have rot I would recommend cutting the flower stem back because the Orchid will sacrifice its roots for the flowers. I watch MissOrchidGirl she has a YT channel and is awesome to follow. Good luck!

I tried growing orbifolia for years, at least once a year something would go wrong and I would chop it to start over. 2 years ago i put it in a chunkier mix and give it nothing but rain water or distilled water if my rain barrels are dry. It is now so big and lush with beautiful flawless leaves. I do believe that the orbifolia is more sensitive to things in tap water than most calatheas, at least that is the case for me.
