Septic or sewer pump electrical testing.

We installed an alarm float on this system when the house was built. The builder had the wiring done but did not install the alarm or run the alarm wire into the house! So the sewer backed up. The customer had the sewer pumped. We found the pump float was bad. We were just going to replace the pump float, but we decided to test the pump and found it was drawing too much current. On the pumps I have tested, the pump draws about twice as much current starting as it does running. If we would have just replaced the float, the pump would have probably failed within a year.
