I still remember the very first time I listened to Sepultura's album 'Arise'. I was 16 and visiting friends in South Carolina (I'm from Alabama) when it was released. 3 of my buddies (a guitarist, bassist, & drummer) and I (a drummer) were perusing the inventory in a local music store one evening when I saw it. I quickly grabbed a copy without hesitation, and we spent the rest of the night with it blasting through the speakers as we tore up the streets in a 1979 Trans Am. Still my favorite Sepultura album of all time, followed closely by its' predecessor 'Beneath The Remains'. Those were great times, to be sure 🤘 Edit: If you're looking for other thrash albums that are absolute masterpieces, I would highly recommend Overkill's 1989 album 'Years Of Decay' and their 1991 follow up 'Horrorscope'. Both are, without a doubt, 2 of the greatest thrash metal releases the world has ever witnessed. There isn't a bad track between them, each song a brilliant tapestry woven with aggression riffing, intricately composed melodies and solos, crisp uppercut basslines, the amazing skills of Sid Falck behind the drum kit, and blisteringly razor sharp vocals. They are definite necessities in every metalhead's library 🤘
