Before I knew about metal, the only thing I listened to were pop songs played on the radio (and they were good songs), Lionel Ritchie, Eurythmics, Michael Jackson, Starship, Chaka Khan, well... the epic hits. Until one fine day I met Iron Maiden, Somewhere In Time. Since then, my world has changed.

If new to Sepultura, please check the live version from "Under Siege Live Barcelona '91". The tempo is UP and both the audience and band are on fire.

Oh yes. Sepultura at their peak. For me this is their best album with the original line-up. So many great songs with excellent music and deep lyrics too. Just 🔥 Excellent choice, Chod.

Great channel dude. There was a handful of bands that stuck out for me in the 80's, away from the 'big 4' - Sepultura was one of them....Sabbat from the UK, Overkill and Testament, Sepultura - Beneath the remains and Arise were great albums but, for me they found their groove on Chaos AD

Keep in mind with this group that they are Brazilian and Max is singing in English with a VERY heavy accent. I love metal and have had several Sepultura and Soulfly etc... albums (all Max singing), and the lyrics are often difficult to make out for me. He sings English a bit like Till from Rammstein sings English... Still love the heavy that is Max and all his creations. I like the title track a bit better, maybe try that out.

I don't know much about metal, but my nephew always tells me there are so many genres. When you react to metal, I never know what I am going to hear. I noticed the differences, but I never know what kind of metal it is. I also had to look them this band. They are from Brazil and the genres listed are groove metal, thrash metal, death metal, alternative metal and black metal. But I don't know where this song falls into.

Hi alot of metal band s change over time, so Metallica for example are thrash metal pioneers but change on their fifth album( the black album) to shorter and more accessible songs and get radio play world wide , and this becomes one of the biggest selling metal albums of all time , .in sepultura 's case they were definitely death metal starting off , then thrash and in their album ..roots ..they were alternative/thrash and were a huge influence on nu metal bands( limp bizkit,Korn etc ) so over a bands career they can change musical style s, in the early eighties iron maiden broke on the scene and are one of the biggest bands in metal history , black Sabbath is where metal started and are massively influential on most metal bands ,hope this helps a little bit 🤘

Sepultura is one of the Pioneers of thrash metal along with Metallica in Megadeth etc. They are from São Paulo Brazil and early in their careers were hard to understand them singing it because they dont know a whole lot of English. Nevertheless, they’re a fantastic thrash metal band that a lot of other bands pioneered themselves after. It probably wasn’t one of the best songs to start out with by them, but that was their second album and it was a bomb album. That most metal heads probably own. It’s just not one of those bands that you’re going to like right away. I understand your reaction to it and I totally get where you’re coming from. It took me a while to get used to slayer also because I was so used to listening to regular heavy-metal. But nevertheless it was a good reaction to a song that is a tough song to really like if you never heard of them

Love the things you do on this channel. But what I miss are reactions on Scandinvian (black) metal bands. Can you do a reaction to "With Strength I Burn " by Emperor or "Broderskapets Ring" by Dimmu Borgir or "Thorns Of Crimson Death" by Dissection

Hi chod I think you did one Megadeth reaction before but do the song FIVE MAGICS by Megadeth from the classic rust in peace album .

For other metal bands to check out, I love the Technical Death Metal bands. Here are a few suggestions: Nile - Negating the Abominable Coils of Apep They have a strong Middle Eastern flavor to their music meaning they won't have similar tuning or chords as standard metal bands will. Suffocation - Cataclysmic Purification They are from New York and have been going strong since 1991!

This song is good but to me they sound too much like Metallica. Where I think Sepultura really comes in to their own is on their album Roots where they explore the roots of their Brazilian heritage. I would check out either Ratamahatta which is sung entirely in Portuguese or Dusted.
