Goooooood question! The Poly Evolver, Pro 3 and pro 2 get lots of attention. But they all get used in something but i reach for those the most.

It’s more than just sample playback that makes the Prophet X. It’s when you start modulating the samples with the oscillators (or the oscillators with the samples) when the real fun starts.

Man, good demo. My dream is a prophet x with the vco’s and filters of the pro 3. And the sampling ofc. Guess I just want it all. 🤣. I love the sequential sound. Synth on, my brother!

I find that those claiming the digital oscillators don’t sound as good just haven’t taken the time to get really into programming patches on these synths (i’m talking from experience with the Pro 2). With a bit of pitch slop, using standard waveshapes, it is very hard to tell they’re not VCOs, especially after filtering. What the digital oscillators can do that VCOs can’t, is lots of insane harmonic stuff. They’re really great tools, if you take your time and learn to use them to their best effect.

NIce, you picked a lot of what makes this a great synth. I miss the one I had. I just could not enjoy the samples and thought omnisphere offered better sample tech. However, as you demonstrate, in the mix they sound really good. The hands on control is really something to be coveted, I might buy it again.

I love omnisphere but it lacks these wonderful analog filters you cant get in the box.

@@PureAmbientDrone Yes, so true. I layer Omnisphere with a real synth to approximate what the PX can do. I loved the PX but was lukewarm on most the samples. Your demonstration makes me want the PX again. A beautiful instrument with premium design and filters.

You can add your own custom waveforms, and ignore the 8dio ones entirely! This synth is crazy, but lots of people never get past using presets.

Love it, James. Two questions: 1. Is the reverb built-in or an external effect? 2. What did you use to get those movie film effects in the video?
