Күн бұрын

2 days exploring the Sequoia National park, the biggest trees in the world! Are Sequoias bigger than redwoods? Why do sequoias need fire?
We decided to stay two full days in this amazing forest of giant trees, in the middle of California, USA. After driving in a dry desert, we arrived in the Sequoia forest on the top of a high altitude mountain. While we were there, we enjoyed our time visiting pretty much everything in the Sequoia National Park:
- General Sherman, the biggest tree in the whole world;
- Moro rock, a breathtaking viewpoint on the top of the sequoia forest;
- Beetle rock, a stunning place to see the sunset and take in the fresh air.
- Tunnel log, where you can drive your car through a giant tree.
- Giant trees trail, the perfect hike to learn more about the Sequoias;
- The Senate group, a bunch of giant sequoia trees all grouped together, highly impressive!
Learn more about the Sequoias with our mini Sequoia Documentary!
Here are the frequently asked question about the Sequoia trees:
Q1- Are sequoia trees redwoods?
A1- No, but the Sequoias and the Redwoods are related.
Q2- Can sequoia trees grow anywhere?
A2- No, see 2:10
Q3- Do sequoia trees need fire?
A3- Yes, see 2:17
Q4- Do sequoia trees burn?
A4- Yes and no... see 2:24
Q5- Do sequoia trees grow in Virginia?
A5- No, see 2:10

Right on. I've backpacked a lot in SNP. A different vibe than other parts of the Sierra. Almost a calmness. Really beautiful. And a very well-run park. As good for people just driving through or staying a night as it is for those who go out and up. Glad you had a chance to enjoy it. Looks like a good time. Insider Tip: If anyone's visiting for a couple of days and wants to get a taste of what the upper elevations are like, camping at Mineral King is the call. The trails heading out of there give a sweet taste of the High Sierra. A great little store too. If you're a pretty experienced backpacker? The Mineral King Loop. You're welcome. :)

Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I planted (2) Metasequoia glypostroboides, commonly called "Dawn Redwood, (2) years ago, & (2) more the following year. I think I read that the ones I planted, will grow to 60 feet tall. Certainly, not as big as a Giant Sequoia, but having the name Metasequoia, maybe they are related.

I've lived in CA my whole life and that is pretty much what it looks like. If there is some heavy rain the native grass turns green for a little bit, but otherwise it's pretty barren. You might like the giant Redwoods at Henry Cowell near Santa Cruz or Big Basin. The trees aren't as big as the Sequoia's, but they are still massive and the terrain is really green coastal forest.
@everybuddy5924
@everybuddy5924 5 жыл бұрын
Sequoias are larger in diameter. The Redwoods on the other hand are the taller of the two types of trees. Some Calif. Redwoods was planted in New Zealand or down that way somewhere I believe and they grow even taller than the Calif. trees.
