Beelink is doing pretty well with these APU/DRAM configurations. With any mini PC, the major conflict is in providing appreciable power while keeping those temps under control--more so if that mini PC is using DDR5. That little fan Beelink puts on the DRAM/M.2 side of the motherboard, in my opinion, could be better designed: if you install an SSD, you block some of the airflow. That said, since their interest was in keeping things tight and tidy, I feel they've done about as well as anyone could expect. The rest of the formula is in keeping the power draw down (low TDP on the APU, and locking the DRAM at 4800MHz). I'm a DRAM lab tech by trade, and we've used Beelinks as test beds from time to time. They're really well-made and dependable platforms. Even though their present strategy somewhat hobbles the capabilities of the hardware they choose, their customers get a very hassle-free and dependable system. I'd wager that 99% of today's computer users would be beyond thrilled by what the SER6 can provide. As always, good review!

@@beanshady maybe you can explain this. His monitor only puts out 65w via the USB-C and the mini PC needs 100w. How is it able to power on? I have an Asus PN53 that also needs 100w and doesn't start if I use a 90w docking station with just the USB-C cable. I have to use the power supply that the pn53 comes with.

I would love to this mini-PC with either the AMD Ryzen 7840HS or 7940HS processor which gives you Zen4 CPU, RDNA3 GPU plus AI engine. is best to over spec power supplies - even above anticipated transient peak demands. If peak lad is 88 watts, to me a 100 watt limit is still not a sufficient margin - would definitely prefer the 120 watt margin.

I also really like the BeeLink mini PC's and I currently have the SER5 5600H and am quite happy with it. I really like the addition of the USB4 port, 2.5 Gb Ethernet and the excellent cooling. However IMO they really need to move the USB 4 port to the back perhaps replacing the standard USB port. Since USB C is used quite often now having a standard USB C in the front instead would be great. I look forward to the newer versions that will be coming out and hope they make some adjustments to the USB port setup. Other than that these mini PCs are getting better every day. Keep it up BeeLink and I will continue to be a loyal customer!

On my SER5 5600H the wifi just locks up requiring a reboot of the system. Ethernet is not affected. My biggest concern is noise level in general office activities. Could it stay silent in those type of activities? Could you highlight this in your videos? If compared with general notebook, not in games, in common browsing, KZbin, which one is quitter or there is no big difference?

I would like it if you'd use Nobara 36, instead of Manjaro. But I do understand the need to use the more popular Manjaro, and also so it compares to other "NUCs".

Could you load Steam OS on this and treat it like a Steam Deck? I guess if you could, you could turn up the Grfx settings a little and have a great min console.. And I guess that having Egpu support you could boost it further... My use case would be a console I can travel with and when home I can connect to a better GPU..

Wondering if these mini PCs are getting strong enough to handle 2D CAD on a day in day out basis
@TheSulross
@TheSulross Жыл бұрын
that almost seems like an odd question when things like AutoCAD ran on Intel 80286 back in the day and such was used to acheive real work. No doubt 2D CAD has moved on considerably in sophistication since those primitive "bear skins and stone knives" days
@johnval31
@johnval31 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSulross I should have clarified, if they're strong enough that it's more cost and time effective to purchase a mini PC instead of building a system with a desktop CPU around the same price point.
@acejon2162
@acejon2162 Жыл бұрын
At the same price point you will get better spec for a desktop PC, the pro for this is in the miniPC formfactor.

Any monitor with DP ATL Mode & PD 3.0 support should work. So far most of the monitors with above support are outputing either 65W or 90W.

Just returned my UM690 for memory issues heating up and shutting down when gaming without rtx 2060. This beelink is cheaper than the gtr6 and unlike the um690 has a cooling solution for the memory BT and wifi. Good choice by beelink and i cant wait to get it

I would like BeeLink to make a Mini PC with one PCI slot exposed, so it's just a small PC box to Snap onto a GPU card... With two external power ports to wire up to the GPU card, then people can game with the latest AMD / Nvida cards and give the card Maximum airflow for Cool gaming. :-)

Great video, ones we really want to see are the 7945HX (use with eGPU) or 7940HS with next gen iGPU
@neilquinn
@neilquinn Жыл бұрын
I'm excited for those too. Just remember the 7945HX has a very weak igpu so shouldn't be used alone for gaming! (like you mentioned with eGPU). It will be an awesome little video rendering machine though with 16 cores/32 threads.

3:54 did you connect your computer to your monitor with only 1 cable? like this? Does this cable pass audio, video and power all together? but where does the energy come from then? from the monitor?
@acejon2162
@acejon2162 Жыл бұрын
DP ALT Mode with PD3.0 means one USB C cable carrying video signal, data signal & power supply upto 100W. The display must have this spec in order to supply abovementioned to the miniPC. So far most monitor displays have either PD 65W or 90W which can still power this miniPC provided the game or application is not too taxing.

I got this model, with 3 external displays, ... when I use youtube the performance slow down heavily, is almost unusable or very anoying.... this happens several times a day, I wonder if there is a way to improve that performance issue,,... in other case, I think is better to get a mini itx DEskSlim or a MacMini instead of mini pcs, I've had Minisforum, Morefine and now Beelink... in general, beelink is the best brand of those 3 by now.
