Interesting to hear another take on this, I always interpreted them a little differently! The "called shot", "high alert" and "enemy found" whistles all sound the same likely because they mean the same thing: "Attack!". For "Moving up" the whistle seems to come from the scar covering, which leads me to think it may mean "Covering you, move up". For "Man down" this might actually be "Check in now". From the number of responses scars can work out how many teammates they have left and roughly where they are.

I like to imagine that the call and answer whistle is them going "report in" "all clear" similar to how militaries use an "echo" response system to confirm that a squad/soldier is still in combat shape

These little cultures we only get glimpses of are so interesting and well-done, thanks for this cool look into a central part of this particular group.

I used the whistles to keep track of how many were left and where they were. Yara's whistle brought me back to the battlefield for a moment.

In the first game Ellie wants to learn to whistle as a fun pastime. In the second game it becomes a sound she would want to avoid at all costs.

Great video! Very interesting! I feel like I'm gonna memorize this whistle language and use it to my advantage when I try the permadeath mode with the grounded difficulty! Good job. I'm subbing to your channel and watching all your other TLOU2 vids as well!
