I have both. The biggest thing I notice is that if you are looking to separate the stems completely the quality is much higher in Rip X. I did a side by side to be sure. The vocal separation is so good from Rip X, I definitely get artifacts or lower quality vocals out of Serato Sample

I tested Serato Sample last night, tried to mute the drums of a sample and could still very clearly hear them. I was actually surprised. I think it might be because Serato Sample instantly creates the stems and therefore the quality is lower. 🤷🏻‍♂️

One of my fave things about RipX is I can isolate melodies and rip the midi from them and send them to my analog keyboards, synths and pianos. Kind of like Melodyne but now hella easier

The stem creation of RipX is simply superior and that's probably because it takes time to analyze samples thoroughly, whereas Serato Sample creates stems instantly.

@@dugnice That is true. That’s why I tell my peoples only stem the parts of a sample you need. Three minute and some change record could be easily 15 minutes to analyze. I found that out day one of using RipX. The quality you hear after it is solid.

RipX also is an audio restoration tool like RX, they provide layers within the stems for more acessibility with the seperations totalling usually 8-12 stems. Compared to Serato which stems out 4 stems. Still rock w both though, I havent gotten to the new Serato Sample but I used the stems feature in Serato. I think they have a one up for having in the box compared to using RipX standalone

I've had Serato Sample for some years and the stem update is amazing, but that RipX looks POWERFUL. I love how it visualizes the audio. Does it let you shift the midi notes in time at all?

Rip X Sounded More Defined, Even With The Bleed... However If I Were Going For The Ultimate Melodic Sound Loop Without Kicks, I'd Run That Rip X Version Thru My Izotope RX Plugin Just To Eliminate That Bleed, Then Throw it Back Into My Program that I'm Working On, Basically For The Ultimate MASTER... Great comparison video. I download RipX a while ago. Great program. I would have to do my own comparison but you do get more out of RipX. Serato Sample seems good. I downloaded it last week.

I've tried these two, plus Virtual DJ. Imo, serato and rip x are great & far more versatile, but whilst limited in how it can separate stems, virtual dj nearly always gives me better quality and far less artifacts.

RipX for me (Have both) . RipX, if your separations is not clean you can go deep to clean it in very fine details in spectrum level within ripX and so many functions to manipulate the samples. I like Serato sample 2 for quick and easy workflow specially its VST3 plugin but found beat grid things is of sometimes.Working with DAW, RipX needs to be use as external audio editor and sometimes its fail to source update in daw. (Ableton)

Serato is the kings of pitch shift time stretch algorithms. Pitch n time pro still costs $800 and that’s what Serato sample is feeding off. Those 4 stem buttons get the job done.

They both seem to offer some great features, but RipX allows you to do more detailed editing/sample manipulation 👍

Both are fly Serato sample stays true to itself as a chopping monster with the stems separation as an added feature which is nice! Rip X acts like a budget friendly powerful answer to Melodyne! Both are great and I suggest having both! My view is one is a beatmakers tool and the other is a producers tool. I will let y'all decide which os which!

as a synthesizer guy i'd like to have 2 things 1. separate the instruments from each other to mute/solo them 2 turn the audio of those instruments into midi. seems to me that Ripx is more in line with what i want. can someone confirm?

FL Studio has stem separation, very similar to Moises AND Serato, I just haven't explored enough of it in Serato...

Rip X is still my go to for stems and bass melodies, can actually see the notes and play along or midi. Serato sample is definitely cool for the chopping abilities, but why grab the stem when you can snatch the whole progression and change the instrument?

i use serato sample 2.0 on my macbook pro 14” with m1 max and 64gb ram within my mpc software. but everytime i use it, i hear crackle sound issues in my speakers which make SS2 useless for me. do anybody have the same issues and know how to fix that??

Comparing apples to oranges in a head to head battle. Only one is a sampler. Serato is a great sampler with basic stem functionality. RIPX is a robust stem ripper, with a number of other functions (like midi ripping), but is not a "sampler." Both have their place and each is stronger in their individual category.

I have serato studio and it's really better for me, I like to have some things without vocals, like things from the 80s like LL.COOL.J with drum machine rapping to be able to achieve those loops, but also for break beat things with only 4 simple elements, some 80s house, underground electronic music, like Jungle Massive from the U.K. Really, for those things that are dj tools for DJs from the 90s to play mixed club music, it is good material for this tool and I think Serato is thinking in the right direction in that regard. Maybe a song by Marshal Jefferson, or Cybotron, some strange dub reggae track, dancehall, plump dj's, Fatboy Slim, Dj shadow, Dj Krush can give you good instrumental pieces and take advantage of them to mix in your sessions, also for Create some simple bases. But one day artificial intelligence still needs to improve it and make it perfect. I think that step remains to be taken.

Ok, I'm gonna keep it all the way real. I downloaded Serato Sample last night to demo the software. I loaded a sample into it and tried to mute the drums, to my surprise and disappointment I could still very much hear the drums. Now this was only ONE test and I'll try more later, but based solely on that one test, it seems that the stem tech in Serato Sample has been greatly exaggerated and hyped. I couldn't believe how poor a job the software did. I've NEVER had such an experience with RipX (not yet at least). Now I suspect that since Serato Sample instantly creates stems, there is a reduction in quality compared to RipX, but wow.

Ave you are wrong in one sense. The RIP-x stems are far-far-far superior. For example, I am in the process of re-recording an old song. I did a demo years ago, with a wash of reverb on the drums and the voice. Serato Sample 2 is very impressive in extracting the stems so quickly. In my example the vocals bled onto the drums and the keys. The vocals in isolation was 'lobotomised' and fragmented. Rip-x took 15 minutes to stem the 5 minute song (presumably to capture/create metadata and editing data). But the vocals were pristine, even retaining the reverb. The drums retained a lot of their reverb. For creativity, Serato is superior, but Rip-x blows it out of the water when it comes to features and the quality of the stems.

RipX are 3 diff products with diff functionality...most of which you left out which would be the differentiators in a comparison with serato...i guess that's in ur other hitnmix video?...which then makes the point of this video not useful...the fundamental editing of audio as if it was midi has been around for quite a while now in lots of tools including melodyne, which in the sound editor has a ton of sound design functions...but comparing pcm synthesis with additive doesn't even make sense cause they will never sound the same...i'm pretty sure hitnmix is additive resynthesis all the way as you can hear the ifft water warble...i dont know what method serato is using for stem separation, but I'm assuming once it is done, it is using pcm synthesis on the resample to use it as an instrument

RIp X is just too much in my opinion and isn't a musical tool. It's good for data analytics and sound design or something more scientific. Stems is just a lot more natural and made with a producer's workflow in mind.
