I ventured through Serbia, heading to Novi Sad for Exit Festival before travelling down to the South of Serbia to the city of Niš. In Niš I discovered a lot about Serbia's long history, the empires and groups who have sought to dominate this country, and the very reason Serbs are so proud of their nation.
I even stayed in an apartment and lived like a human being briefly.

The algorithm will eventually pick these videos up, and rightly so!Rarely do I come across a channel I can binge watch like this.

Brother that's too kind! The thought of someone bingewatching MY videos when it's usually me bingewatching other people's videos is kind of strange, but a beautiful comment that has put a smile on my face!

Another awesome video mate, enjoy Serbia. And most definitely you gotta go to Montenegro, you'l llove it there as well. And yes, Serbia, Montenegro and Republika Srpska have surplus of history so to speak. It's very eventful, busy, interesting, tragic, amazing, enjoyable, bloody and magnificent history!!! That part of Europe has been on the crossroads for thousands of years, our geography made us who we are, simple as that. And try to visit that British guy a Londoner who lives in Belgrade and has a records shop, he moved to Belgrade to live there, he's on KZbin as well. Keep up the good work mate and enjoy Serbia

Oh man I wish I had seen this sooner - I for sure would have found him. I literally just left Belgrade! Damn that's frustrating. In a way I am glad I haven't visited Montenegro yet because it means I literally HAVE to come back!

I was the French guy you met at a random restaurant in Serbia (with 2 dogs). I think it was the day before you went to the Drina River house . Cool content ;)

Great! You uploaded again! Take care! You should be fine in Serbia! They are helpful and hospitable! Doesn't matter where you are in the world pray to God for protection on your trip. For He knows our thoughts and intentions but He let's us choose which road we take in life. Let us choose the good side. Just my opinion from my experience in life. Not preaching Best wishes 😊

God bless you and thank you for your kind words! I feel completely safe in Serbia. This narrative of Serbia being dangerous is nonsense. I am sure there are plenty of criminals and illegal activity in Serbia somewhere, same as every country. Safety is always a relative thing. I'd way sooner walk in the outskirts of Belgrade than London.

It will kick off. This feels a bit inevitable - there are some very legitimate grievances around immigration (particularly undocumented males), but burning your own country to the ground is not very helpful.

You should go to these places! There's so much to see in the Balkans. They're all modern, hospitable countries (give or take the mosquitos), but the culture is sufficiently different to Western Europe / UK to be fascinating to me.

Thanks for some watchable weekend telly amid the dreck served up by the main channels. Now that you are a long way from places I know, I am enjoying learning from you. Your visit to Niš sent me to Google Maps and since my history of the Balkans is very hazy, to Wikipedia too. Shame about Athens, but apparently it's heavily polluted, and anyway, we have the Elgin Marbles in London - for now anyway. Will be intrigued to see which route you take back.

@@BritishLandeur People would argue that 😄 but alright... let's keep it simplified. In many ways it is better today. But our communism was nothing like Stalinism, we almost went into a war with USSR at one point becase we broke apart... Yugoslavia was not behind the iron curtain. We traveled to western Europe without visas. Communist country 🙂 Probably needed visa for UK but in Western Germany or France, Italy, without problems. Just with our red passport. East and west. For the time being (Cold war) we were awesome.

@videoizazov

@@BritishLandeur Yes, it comes as a surprise, but you can read about Yugoslavian communism and how it differs from the rest of the communist block... There are many articles about that. I was a kid in the 80s. I'm 40 now. I don't remember Tito, but I do remember the end of the 80s, we traveled to Italy without a problem, my dad went to Western Germany a lot just to buy stuff, for a weekend, to have fun with friends, not for work. Many did go to work as well, but you could have a decent life in Yugoslavia. Especially in bigger cities and in the north, like Belgrade, Zagreb, Novi Sad, Ljubljana... I mean we had Mc Donalds in the 80s. No other communist country had Mc Donalds in the 80s or to buy coca-cola. None. 😄 That was our starting point. Ruined in the 90s by nationalistic wars. Awesome perspective destroyed. We could've integrated to the west easily.

Don't take this the wrong way, just a friendly heads up warning. When you read in news about Czech, Polack, Slovak, etc. tourists dying in mountains of Croatia, its usually the fellows in sandals and drunk and with that attitude of courageous "what's the worst that can happen" lets ignore the warning signs and head on into the rocks... Just saying.

Yeah, I'm a bit reckless sometimes. I do have some basic sense of wanting to live and taking calculated risks, however. The biggest risk was probably climbing the crumbling observatory in Bosnia. I actually have decent walking shoes I just never seem to be wearing them at the right time... Croatia was beautiful and I didn't even show it very well. I better traveller than me would have at least made it to Plitvice and Dubrovnik. Shame a Croatian tree put an end to my drone!
