I love how open and transparent Serena is right now. It really feels like she’s coming to terms with everything. I haven’t. I can’t imagine tennis without her, but I will soak up every moment we have left to watch her play.

Throughout the entirety of her decades-long career.. Serena, excelled! Against all odds: racism, misogyny, unequal drug testing harrassment, biased criticisms, body shaming, unequal sponsorship offers, bigoted press headlines, etc... Serena, excelled! Despite, the many years of discouraging difficulty from those involved in and around the Tennis industry.. Serena, excelled! Despite the many years she endured without major support from her own countrymen.. Serena, excelled! Whilst, forcing other players to consistently raise their game levels of sheer power, increased ball speed, advanced strategical tactics and physical logistics.. Serena, still excelled! ..because, Serena is the essence of what others believed to be.. "impossible" - achieving, what is actually, possible.. She is, and will always be, our undisputed 🐐 Thanks for all the inspirational memories, 👸SERENA. # FAREWELLTOUR 🐐

Exactly this and I became a fan of her ever since the 2018 US Open which was my first time watching Serena. Hearing her story and all that she’s come from and went through yet she is reaching the big stages and hungry for more even after pregnancy really touched me.

So, what I gather, you are saying that she excelled then, right? Just wanted to be clear on that point about the excelling-ness thingy. Hey, just kidding. Serena is one in a million. I don't think we'll see the likes of this type of champion for a long, long time. I disagree about the misogyny thing because I don't think that ever was a factor with her, maybe a-holes said stuff, but I think she brushed that nonsense off, right quick.

She should give it another season. You don’t retire when you’re that legendary and still able to play so well at age 40, you retire when you can no longer compete. Her husband and family can wait a year or two like the commentators said..
@Abobagunwa2 жыл бұрын
I feel the exact the same. I think Serena just didn’t have the right voices to tell her her husband and child can wait a year and there is nothing wrong with her. This retirement announcement / tour seems rushed to me. Doing it over a year while giving herself time to prepare in the off season would have been beautiful and Serena would have been competitive and prepared. This is so sad and I wonder if that wasn’t the original plan and the whole Mouratoglou breakup hastened and changed her decisions somewhat. I hope she does reconsider and gives a proper bowout.
@Bedoubleu2 жыл бұрын
Maybe she wants to start training her baby girl so she can be the next generation tennis star.
@Kai-ts9fw2 жыл бұрын
@@Abobagunwa Agreed, it definitely feels rushed. I got the sense at AO21 that she had planned to retire last year, but those plans get derailed due to her injury at wimbledon. her retirement announcement would’ve probably coincided with the King Richard movie and award season tour. i also think she would have quietly retired after the US open last year instead of announcing a retirement tour. that injury saw her spend nearly a year away from the game and i think she was getting pressured to retire because i don’t think her husband is supportive. it’s really unfortunate that the people around her aren’t talking some sense into her because she clearly doesn’t really want to retire and she still loves the game. her only reason is “family” (aka alexis ohanian). and although i’m glad Patrick is gone in favour of Renee/Eric, the timing is off because this should’ve happened in 2018/2019. oh well, she’s the GOAT and hopefully she can make a dream run here
