Yeah she is. Have to say though she kept evolving her game over the years and I think she got better after 2003 only her movement was better around that time. It was injuries and dealing with the death of her sister that had prevented her from accomplishing alot more.

@@mohamedtawab1711 Very funny comment. With Serena winning 23 grand slams in a 17 years period compare to Graf 22 grand slams in 12 years there is some reasons for this. Serena was injured alot throughout her career when she was at her peak and was out of the game numerous of times because of injuries and personal tragedies. Another reasons too is the level of Serena era it was much tougher than Graf era. In Serena era players were much more skilled than players in the 1980s and 1990s. Graf was head and shoulders above 80% of her competitors no one really had the game to threatened her but once players like Davenport and the William sisters came she wasn't dominant anymore and that's why she retired fairly young in 1999 after just winning the French and making the Wimbledon final. She knew she couldn't compete with those players who were up and coming. Do you think that Graf wanted to play players like Venus who can get many balls back in those days and deal Serena powerfully serve and Davenport ball striking. Graf never had to face these opposition in the 1990s apart from Monica Seles who had a aggressive game style that is similar to the William sisters.

On another note, I don't think the GOAT concept in most sports is fair. Players from different eras had different challenges and priorities. I believe in a couple of all time greats.

The announcers for this game is soooo disappointing. You can hear the very lackluster commentary at 5-1 in the third. No comments about Serena's skill, craft, endurance, spirt, amazing comeback... NOTHING. They were disappointed but had NO ONE to blame. No one!!!! If anyone wonders why race relations are the way they are in this world.... look no farther than moments like these. I'm not saying it's racism here, but truly tribalism. A shame... damn shame. And let me say... Kim Clijsters as I remember her gave nobody NOTHING in a game of tennis... when she was on...she's ON!

Serena went on to win 7 Australian Open titles in her career. The last time she won it while pregnant. Women tennis have improved over the years though no way Serena would make so many errors and win the match today or in the 2010s. Serena missed so many returns. She was clearly not at her best in this match but still won the match.

Women's tennis has improved in terms of depth, but the top of the game has not. The best players of 2003 were arguably much stronger than the best in the modern era. However, players ranked 50-100 are much stronger today than they were in 2003.

@@jamesgallagher7652 Agreed, more depth now in women tennis now and the top players in 2003 are better than current top players. Anyone in the top 50-100 can beat almost anybody today, whereas 20 years 50-100 were beaten before they walk on the court when they faced the top players. So yes women tennis have improved interms of depth and that's what meant Serena would not get away making so many return errors against most of the players in the modern game.

Aussie crowd wanted Kim to win because she was dating their countryman Lleyton Hewitt at the time. Other than this match, the Australian Open crowd is almost always 100% pro Serena. More so than the US Open crowds probably

Yeah the crowd in Australia and Wimbledon were most favorable to Serena. The only time at Wimbledon, that I can think of, when the crowd was against Serena was when she played Heather Watson and almost lost.

I think in the later years of Serena’s career the US open crowd became very pro-Serena, but yeah the Aussie crowd and Wimbledon were on her side for most of her career.
