Serena definitely had a chance to win this... However, she had taken at least 2-3 months off after winning the Australian Open in 2010 to heal injuries (although it is rumored she boycotted playing any tournaments in the US in the spring over her 2009 US Open Fines and Probation or vice versa)... She also slimmed down a little bit from Australia... Had she had more match play, she could have taken the title... but Kudos to Sam Stosur... it does always suck when you beat a Williams Sister in a Grand Slam during that time and then not win the tournament...

I know Sam gets alot of hate but when she was at her peak she was one of the best in the world and was feared by her competitors

Yes! That forehand was lethal, and the serve, both first and second was great. With a different mentality and more self belief she could have been so much more dangerous. But she still is a Slam Winner, nobody can take that from her.

Watching this, you can see why Serena struggled on clay post knee surgery. She looks off balance a lot.
