The most underrated scifi film/series...EVER! It holds up against Wars and Trek, even with its short run. So good...

Do they give out awards for casting, because the casting in this flick is BANANAS good! Dig how the villain lives by this warriors code, and when we cut back he's just calmy watching Sarah Paulson basically sacrifice herself to send out the message (not that she would have survived anyway, but at least she had the decency to try to warn others). I think in that moment he respected her greatly w/r/t how her life ended. Great to see his eyes well up.

The whole series makes it clear, mal and zoe are not average soldiers. They survived the most horrific battle of the war. They are the equivalent of the Japanese survivors of iwo jima. Outnumbered 5 to 1, outgunned and still managed to kill 25% of the attackers. The battle of serenity valley was supposed to be the 'verses gettysburg but the outcome was more like iwo jima.

I dont think Ive ever seen a sci-fi movie where I was so freakin afraid that one of the characters might die. Firefly/Serenity makes you care so much for its characters

Mal quotes Neo: "I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you, a world without rules and controls without borders or boundaries, a world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice l leave to you."

I love this part of the movie too. But I was weirdly impressed with the platform, moving the slightest bit, when the captain walked across it.

I feel bad for the operative... he gave up his feelings, honor, dignity, ... , his very soul for an ideal... and it turned to be as ugly as him. In the end becoming a monster to create thst perfect place was a waste.
@robertwhalley42665 жыл бұрын
He was reborn. In the end, he did NOT become a monster. Did you miss the ending? He said "It's over, it's all over. He got his soul back and had an epiphany. It was his 'road to Demascas'.

CaptainZ he is kind of a young version of the Shepherd. I’ve read the background of Shepherd book, but I can totally see a different version of him in the operativ

he still has the same believing at the end, he's just not gonna work anymore with the alliance to make it come true
@bryanquijanesortega32214 жыл бұрын
@@delcatroque2463 He is finished, there is no coming back from that, he is just wating for someone to kill him, he doesn't anything else to give. He knew that everything he did was extremely evil, there is no absolution for sins like these, no matter what the christian believe in repentance says. As Stannis Baratheon says ""A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad the good"" the operative understand this.

I read one theory that it was an automated process triggered by Mal coming up through the elevator; the timing for when it opens could be just enough for someone to walk from one end of that corridor to the other, but Mal stopped to talk to the crew instead
