Concord Crash | Flight Attendant Buried Here

Today we visit Passy Cemetery, Opened in 1820 in the expensive residential and commercial districts of the Right Bank near the Champs-Élysées, by 1874 the small Passy Cemetery had become the aristocratic necropolis of Paris. It is the only cemetery in Paris to have a heated waiting-room.
Sheltered by a bower of chestnut trees, the cemetery is in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.
The cemetery was once the home of a statue by Dunikowski titled The Soul Escaping the Body. It was on top of the ceremonial grave of Antoni Cierplikowski. The statue was known by many but was removed when the grave was cleared in 2004.
It is known as a small but well visited cemetery (Petit mais bien fréquenté).
Givenchy.
Hubert James Taffin de Givenchy, he was born on 20 February 1927 in Beauvais, Oise,into a Protestant family. He was the younger son of Lucien Taffin de Givenchy, Marquis of Givenchy (1888-1930), and his wife, the former Béatrice ("Sissi") Badin (1888-1976). The Taffin de Givenchy family, which traces its roots to Venice, Italy (the original surname was Taffini), was ennobled in 1713, at which time the head of the family became Marquis of Givenchy. His elder brother, Jean-Claude de Givenchy (1925-2009), inherited the family's marquessate and eventually became the president of Parfums Givenchy.
After his father's death from influenza in 1930, he was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother, Marguerite Dieterle Badin (1853-1940), the widow of Jules Badin (1843-1919), an artist who was the owner and director of the historic Gobelins Manufactory and Beauvais tapestry factories. Artistic professions ran in the extended Badin family. Givenchy's maternal great-grandfather, Jules Dieterle, was a set designer who also created designs for the Beauvais factory, including a set of 13 designs for the Elysée Palace. One of his great-great-grandfathers designed sets for the Paris Opera.
He moved to Paris at the age of 17, and he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts.
Concord crash
While taking off from Charles de Gaulle Airport, the aircraft ran over debris on the runway, causing a tyre to explode and disintegrate. Tyre fragments, launched upwards at great speed by the rapidly spinning wheel, violently struck the underside of the wing, damaging parts of the landing gear - thus preventing its retraction - and causing the integral fuel tank to rupture. Large amounts of fuel leaking from the rupture ignited, causing a loss of thrust in the left-hand-side engines 1 and 2. The aircraft lifted off, but the loss of thrust, high drag from the extended landing gear, and fire damage to the flight controls made it impossible to maintain control. The jet crashed into a hotel in nearby Gonesse two minutes after takeoff. All nine crew and 100 passengers on board were killed,
as well as four people in the hotel. Six other people in the hotel were critically injured.
In the wake of the disaster, the entire Concorde fleet was grounded. It returned to service on November 7, 2001, following the implementation of various modifications to the airframe, but to limited commercial success. The type was finally retired by Air France in May 2003 and by British Airways in November

Absolutely delightful city cemetery. What a treat to walk through so much history. The dog was a greyhound to me. Whippets are much smaller and that was the Beauregard Family. Those mausoleums were very different, almost enchanting like a fairy tale. I could spend all my time in that one petite place. I hope you are enjoying your dream come true! Even with notifications on, I manage to still miss people ☹️🙄🤦🏼‍♀️. Two women who really knew how to dress well, Audrey Hepburn & Jackie Kennedy. ❤ Can you imagine how he felt, dressing them?!?😮 A family friend who survived the Holocaust, ended up living in Paris. I got to visit him there. The son of the American family who took him in afterwards (at age five he was pulled out of the line he was in with his whole family to be gassed & he was put to work by the Nazis). One thing I dislike is the sounds of their emergency vehicles. Always reminds me of the Nazi ones you hear in movies. Very very tightly packed cemetery. That’s what I thought of with poor Virginie. 😢 You could spend days and days in that cemetery!! I hope you all get to Montmartre while you’re there. It was an interesting and busy place when I was there, long ago. Artists and ppl selling things, great restaurants there as well. (But, our friend went from nothing to being a multimillionaire, so I don’t know about prices). Such artistry and beauty in those gravesites, whether in markets, statuary, or stained glass. All of it is Super Amazing!❤ Thank you, Sue! That was outstanding!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Stunning cemetery. I kind of figured she went down with the Concorde, very sad. I do love her headstone though. I remember that day very well. The Concorde had a stellar reputation and then this and no more. It's interesting to see how countries take care of their deceased graves. They must open those mausoleums everyday for viewing. The beauty as with everything Paris is breathtaking. I love that Paris still has their original sirens. London's sirens are like ours here in the states now which was disappointing. I wanted to hear their old sirens but it was not to be. You are so grateful for your supporters. You are so welcome. You guys are loved, for sure. Such special folks. That's the famous painting of the angels where the Cherub was located. My sister had a print of those angels hanging above her fireplace. Painting by Raphael. Hangs in a gallery in Dresden. I can't decipher the gallery's name or even type it for that matter. I loved Givenchy, my mother would copy his clothes and make them for me. My mother was an amazing dress designer but her lifelong health issues stopped her from ever doing anything with her talent. She could turn a burlap sack into a stunning ball gown my dad used to say.

Hello Sue…what a beautiful Cemetery this is…amazes me how they cram them all in together with virtually no space between them, yet it looks dignified+ respectful to all who are buried there+the relatives/friends who visit their loved ones!!! I like the wee Cherub sitting above the door of the Mausoleum holding a skull!!! A lot of the graves have beautiful little gardens which are clearly attended by family who care for them!!! Beautiful, peaceful place to be laid to rest!!! Love your videos Sue, always interesting with the history that you share…looking forward to your next adventure!!! Take care…X🙃❤️🙏🏻

I have often hope that one day that I'd be able to go to Paris and visit the Big 4 Cemeteries that are in that city: Monteparnasse, Montmarte, Pere Lachaise, Passy, as well as the Les Invalides (where Napoleon is laid to rest) and the Pantheon. Not necessarily, sometimes there may be a famous person buried there but mostly I just visit as they are forgotten or they have beautiful memorials

in the mid 90s, The bike club and me, went to paris, and we went to see jim morrisons grave as you do and it wasnt protected then as it is now and us being a reputable bike club LOL Satans Slaves MC, the norm was booze etc and we loved the doors, so we went to Jims grave, and there where bottles of Vodka Whisky all sorts Sue. So what did we we do, took a bottle or two from the grave drank it and some other stuff on grave too LOL, and as i allways say thats how he lived and he wouldnt have minded at all and we gave him a dram also in the ground xxx
