Today, we go looking for 3 historical graves. two were very hidden, so we cleaned them, I am so happy I did, the detail we reveal is absolutely amazing and they are from the late 1600s #history #graves #ireland

A fleet of 12 ships under the command of Antonio Zeno was commissioned by Prince Henry Sinclair, Earl of Orkneys,, paid for by Templar money to take a party to North America. the fleet landed in Novo Scotia, and proceeded to explore the east coast of America. Sir Henry was murdered on his return in 1400 AD and the Sinclair family claim that the knight buried at Westford, Massachusetts, was Sir James Gunn. !!!

Hi Sue! I agree with you they need to take better care of the historical slabs especially from the 1600's! Here in Arizona I get excited when I find a grave from the 1860's, but if we had the graves as old as Ireland I would be like a kid in a candy store! 😂 Thank you for all the traveling you do and all of the history you research! I watch you and GV daily here in Tombstone, Arizona, USA...appropriate name of a town I live in!

You two are just amazing! You work so well together…GV always keeps out of where your filming so you never see him, but so quick to aid with the torch and reading !,👏👏👏 and then the pair of you cleaning those three beautiful old graves, with just your bare hands and determination. I really hope the people at that Heritage Centre see this and feel ashamed. To have three very ancient important graves right outside their door, and not even to have swept them after grass strimming for several years! I think that’s shocking. Who ever does the mowing and strimming really should be asked to ensure they are swept each time afterwards as they are so important. I hope your hands are ok, as you both worked like Trojans! But it was lovely to see Sue really in her element..obvious how much she loves those old grave stones and depictions shown in relief. Def 👍👍👍👍👍👍 to you both… I doubt anyone else would have bothered looking and working so hard as you did. Bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👩🦳😘😘🙏🫶

It was worth going just for those two ancient graves.I agree it’s sad the state they were in when you got there, and it was not protecting them,it’s the moss that damages and eats them away. But they for the age are in amazing condition.I think definitely very old.Looking back at the image you put up,it looks much older than you think .The lady appears to be wearing a headdress with her hair in two buns encased in fillets(decorated metal sometimes with jewels if wealthy, to retain the hair or of cloth and wire). She also appears to be wearing a cloak over a straight dress. So from what she’s wearing and the style of the Knights armour I think this one is between 1400-1500AD.I cannot remember exactly when the filets became fashionable.,because they went through several different styles of headdresses, but the clothes and the cloaks changed very little ,just tweaking here and there..Beautiful design and for the age amazing condition. These should really be encased to preserve them for the future to prevent further damage.Very historical significance.Their heritage site should know this and have looked after it better it’s an important stone,as is the one beside it ,but I believe that’s a bit later more 15-1600. I hope this helps..Fabulous Church yard !thanks for taking us along ..Love n Light 🥰

Well, I think this was just amazing. First, I couldn't get over the crows and the chaos of noise they made. They carried on like you were digging up bodies in a movie! It was more like "The Birds" and they were going to dive-bomb you both at any minute! We couldn't even see them, we could only hear them. Second the effigy of the soldier or Crusader was magnificent. Third, those effigies on the slabs were out of this world. What you could show us in pictures Sue made it unbelievable that it still survives today! I found that truly incredible. I agree if that building is a historic center, I am appalled that they couldn't keep them in better condition - clean them up and lay plex-glass over all of them whether they are standing or laying down. To me it's as if they don't know what they have laying out there in their own graveyard. That is a shame. Some of it goes almost back to the middle ages. Somebody there needs a good throttling! Good for you, Sue and Cathal for uncovering it! ♥️🙏♥️ 🇮🇪☘️ 😢😮🥺😳

Thank you! That first knight that was upright looked like he had high top sneakers. It was nice to be able to see these old stones because it won't be long before they are completely worn away. We here in the states had "acid rain" A couple decades ago. It lasted a few years and took a big toll on the headstones especially the sandstone ones. Some of the most beautifully carved ones were made of sandstone. Many look like tree trunks. Maybe to represent they were cut down early in life.

When you mentioned that the people would use millstones and whatever else of stone that might be lying around, I thought of an 1890s grave here in Danville, Va, in which the bereaved son could not afford to purchase a "proper stone" for his departed mother; so, he removed the marble top of a dresser, carved his mother's "particulars" into it, and set it in concrete. Looking at it, one is almost overcome with a feeling of "bittersweetness."

So many graves were erected for fathers by their children. So appropriate for Fathers’s Day. Barb 🌻

Beautiful video as usual, Sue. Thank you for the stories. But, I must ask, "What in the World is going on with the crows??" I don't think that I have ever heard them quite so disturbed!

I think it was feeding time for the younger crows, that or they were guarding them, very noisey

Amazing finds h ere , real history shame the heritage centre didn't think to uncover the wealth of history under so much moss, a wonderful feature for such a group .such a loss to the area, it shows a lot of love and enthusiasm to unearth these stones, almost archaeological very hard with bare hands

Thank you both of you for uncovering those beautiful tune stones I would’ve thought the heritage centre would’ve been responsible for keeping the upkeep of the graveyard made with her for another reason who knows. Love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
