I trained with Serge in 1980-88 then, from 2008-2010 he had a stroke in 2010 and passed away in 2011. I attended his funeral at Père Lachaise cemetery and all his family friends and bodybuilding community turned up. He was a legend. A really decent man, and in later life he was spiritual. Blessed to have crossed paths with Serge Nubret

This is great information and it’s a shame that Serge didn’t get the recognition he deserves. He kept in such phenomenal shape even when he would be considered and elderly person.

Because he didn't use stupidly heavy poundanges. His diet I don't totally agree w/ but it was use of excellent form w/ light weights done for many, many sets never to failure. Pavel Tsatsouline advocates the same thing. High volume, high protein low rest.

This is for me still the best video about low carb diets on the internet. I always come back to reset my mind properly. Stay strong.

Awesome video! I never understood why people lumped a carnivore diet in with the keto diet. My ketone strips NEVER showed even trace ketones when I was eating carnivore. I would have to fast for over a day to achieve that.

Serge was way ahead of his time on understanding the nature of eating. Eating when needing to eat. Prolonged fasting or eating when needed is the key to a lean body like serge had. If you want to be a mass monster... have at it... eat that 7k calorie but if you want to build muscle and stay lean stop eating and eat meat and little bit when needed if needed. If you want to retain a little extra water and energy, have very low carbohydrate. The suffix Hydrate is "Water"

Dr Nash Jocic, you are saying 100% truth. I was at Nubret’s International Club, Rue Rébéval, Paris near métro Belleville, from 1980 to 1985 and then, he opened his second gym (blue carpets, gold padded machines (panatta)… yes, it was an amazing time and a phenomenal gym.

One thing you are missing is the reason glucose was found in the bloodstream of those who haven't consumed carbs in days is because their body was breaking down its stored fat in order to release glucose into the bloodstream. The diet your speaking of was the very typical 70s diet it works but can't get you below 7 percent bf. Serge achieved that level of leanness by using triacana, thiomucase, constant dosing of amphetamines, and parabolin. Serge was good friends with the chemist Paco Rabon who created many different stimulant compounds that Serge uses on a regular basis

Well, it would be rather gluconeogenesis, the process through which liver turns protein and ketones into glucose... Best, N

This is right in line with what Dr. Ted Naiman recommends in the P:E diet. Great stuff. Thank you for posting this and for the practical advice.

I think we also have to understand that Serge worked up to 8lbs of horse meat a day gradually. He didn't just start out eating that much at once it was a gradual process throughout his training experience that probably took years.

Serge gave several versions of his usual training routine and diet. You never knew which to believe. Excellent bodybuilders are born as much as made.

Serge has many interviews where he talks about his diet and he always says something different. Something he says 10lbs of horse meat, which by the way would be 8000 calories which he wasn't eating at 200lbs, and you would not be able to digest that much meat every day. It would completely defy what the body is capable of. But anyway, in other interviews he says he ate 1 meal a day that was 3lbs of horse meat and rice and beans. There's other interviews where he says 8 lbs of horse meat and some rice. My point is that even tho he was a amazing bodybuilder and probably ate a lot of horse meat, all the diets he laid out we're greatly exaggerated

From all your videos about Serge, it is evident that he was not just a very gifted and hard-working athlete but also a critical thinker and a renegade. He sounds like he completely ignored what most people said and just followed his instincts. Truth is, It requires a lot of courage to follow your hunch. A lot of bodybuilders today just blindly accept and reproduce what they read in the forums without ever testing themselves those statements. "you cannot do high volume training, high volume is only for the genetic elite". Well, how do we really know that? Who says that a natural cannot do high volume? How do we know that those famous bodybuilders stood out because of their genetics and not because of their training methods? How do we know that we are not genetic elite ourselves if we do not train as hard as they?
@nashjocic888
@nashjocic888 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! He was very instinctive, the quality that not many people possess these days. Most of the people today rely only on their cognitive abilities, neglecting their own instincts. That has lead to levelling of the people and belief that we will all respond the same if we eat the same food and train the same way. But, this is not the case. That does not even apply to the same medication that people receive while suffering from the same illness... Best, N

Great video. This is how I eat. My main meals are all protein and fat. I will have an avocado, but it is the only fruit that has almost zero sugar. I keep away from carbs and sugar and let my body mostly use fat for energy

he did it when he wanted to, same with Girondas steak and egg diet people forget every 3 days there would be things like rice thrown in, but to say Serge was eating rice everyday was simply not factual based on his words from his mouth in a relevant time/era in which he looked the way were talking about,
@dtm4071
@dtm4071 4 жыл бұрын
@@archilonshadowheart7 He literally said he ate rice every day. Clearly you have never read posts from 'his words from his mouth'. He never stopped eating carbs before a show, he just trained harder.

nash jocic do you do squats and deadlifts?
@nashjocic888
@nashjocic888 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do them but deadlift only with straight legs for hamstrings. But that does not mean that you should. Since our legs and arms act as a levers, the application of the force on the legs and back may be very different in different individuals. It is safe to say that most people will not benefit from these two exercises...
@nashjocic888
@nashjocic888 3 жыл бұрын
I do squat and do only dead lift for hamstrings, not for back. To heavy on dead lift and to much leaning forward while squatting will make your obliques to big... You certainly don't want that... Best, N

That must have been amazing to be in the same gym as him, these 270 pound beasts with a belly had nothing on him. I heard he was making some PORNO movies in Europe and that kind of tarnished his image, 2nd place in the O beating Ferrigno is nothing to be ashamed of though so i dont believe there was much racism even in those days. Small waist and amazing midsection like Serge had is the TRUE BB look, after Lee Haney midsections started getting way to thick. Regarding his death wasnt it something to do with pituitary issue maybe never proven though? I thought there was something in magazines/internet then about it but might have been all suspicions
